AU Payroll - Set up multiple auto super authorisers
Having multiple people as a Super Authoriser would be helpful when the 1st person goes on leave.
Hi everyone, a quick update on multi-authorisation for Payday Super.
We recognise that multi-authorisation is a priority for many of you, particularly as Payday Super approaches and businesses review how they manage super payments in Xero.
Our Product team is actively working on an enhanced workflow for this, which is on track for release next quarter.
We’ll share more updates as soon as we have more to confirm.

100% agreed with all comments visible on the first page of this thread. A huge gap for Xero and a serious flaw with PayDay super for the ATO. What happens in the case of emergency when the payroll officer may simply be unavailable due to illness or injury?

This is a critical update Xero that you need to move up the chain of priority. Put all your pointless "AI" tasks to the side and provide us with actual workable solutions to the shortcomings of your system in line with legislation changes.

We had this issue last week. The authorised person was away sick and our team couldn't process the super payment as it needed to be processed under the authorised person's login. We are lucky we are still in May and not July, but this is not workable in its current format.

What happens when the Super Authoriser is on leave. or not rostered, as the "right to disconnect" is a legal provision introduced in Australia that allows employees to ignore work-related communications outside of their scheduled work hours. This law aims to establish clear boundaries between work and personal life.
This issue needs to be amended as a matter of urgency - not later in the year.
Hi everyone, I notice that Xero is hosting a webinar this Thursday for a "fireside chat" with the ATO's Deputy Commissioner Payday Super Program. You can submit questions ahead of time. This could be a great opportunity to put some more pressure on Xero to address this issue - I encourage everyone following this post to attend the webinar and submit your question/s.

We must be able to have more than one authoriser for Super payments with the changes coming, this needs to be in place by 30 June and is surprising it is not part of the changes already being made.

When PayDay super kicks in, when the authoriser is away we will need the ability to have more than one authoriser? Can option be set up to coincide with payday super starting?

This needs to be addressed urgently. Currently as things are it was difficult to manage with just one approver but now with the shorter timeframes around pay day super this is critical. I do not believe a date of later this year is commitment enough, we need to know this will be in place prior to June 30.

This is an urgent update for all of us Bookkeepers that are serving many many clients with both employees and contractors and the looming PayDay Super changes - the current single authoriser is just not feasible.

Can there be the option to have more than one user to authorise superannuation payments?

Currently there is only 1 x phone number that can receive the authentication code to process superannuation payments. In the instance the person receiving the superannuation code is absent from work, can we add a back-up phone number to authenticate the superannuation payment in time for pay-day super?

I agree with everyone else's comments. It is critical that this is rolled out prior to 30 June 2026, to align with the move to Pay Day super. Only having one approver is very limiting and will ultimately lead to organisations becoming non-compliant with super payments.
I urge Xero to prioritise this and have something in place prior to 30 June 2026.
I also agree that anyone with Payroll Admin access should be able to change the authoriser of super. If the Subscriber is the authoriser and they happen to be away from work unexpectedly how is super meant to get paid?

I agree this has now become an urgent issue - I don't think the suggested timing of later this year is soon enough. Given same day super on 1 July, we need this implemented by 30 June. We have had our authoriser go on unexpected leave and have no way to approve super.

I just came looking to see if this has been updated. We have started to use Payday Super to ensure all working correctly. However only having one user be able to Authorise the payment is very difficult. We either have to share login details and set the code up to go to a shared work phone that isn't very secure, or we can't do the Payday super payment when our payroll admin is on leave overseas and can't get us the code as they don't have service to phone for the code.
Extremely frustrating and hope that XERO fix this ASAP. -

I agree with everything said about this issue already - it needs to be rolled out ASAP.
One other aspect is it makes no sense that only the Subscriber can setup or make changes to Auto-Super including who the authoriser is.
What's the point of having a Payroll Admin role if it excludes them from making Auto-Super changes.

Thanks to all the Users and Agents who keep relating how important this is with the upcoming changes.
I note the last response from the Xero team was in March - it would be great if we could get an update from them as to when we can expect to see this implemented.

With Payday Super about to commence, what happens if the Authoriser is incapacitated and unable to approve?
Do we refer the ATO to Xero to explain why they don't have provision for more than one Authoriser, not even in case of emegency?
Do Xero take care of any penalties liable for not paying our staff super in the even of an authoriser losing their phone, being incapacitated or otherwise unable to approve the super each pay day?
Do Xero take responsibility explaining to our staff why they have not received their super entitlement within 7 days of being paid? With Payday Super fast approaching, this must become an urgent priority!
