User Role - Access to Products & Services (Inventory) and Purchases/Sales only

Ability to allow individual access to inventory(products & services) and sales in Xero.

Purpose: Enable ability to view different sets of information within an org.

Hi Community! Me again ☺️

I'm happy to share that we have just rolled out these Product & service permissions to all users. To recap the change - within User Settings you'll now find there are multiple options to assign Product & service permission for an Invoice only user

  • No access
  • View
  • View and create/edit
  • View, create/edit, and adjust stock

We really value the input we have received from our community in the needs for more granular permissions for Inventory. We believe this new set of options will effectively meet the needs of the majority of our users. Thank you for your input! 🎉🙏

    My colleague always need to check inventory status (the qty, the transaction related to inventory). However they do not have the access to REPORT . So giving them access to Business - product and services allowing them check inventory every now and then.

    Currently they always need to trouble colleague who has the report access to give them the inventory report . That is adding burden to colleague who is buzy with other task.

    This is absolutely key. Without this functionality we may need to switch software - which we'd hate to do as Xero is great in every other way.
    We absolutely cannot give access to banking to our staff who need to issue POs. I can't believe I've really understood this correctly!

    Another voice adding to the discussion. I fully agree with and support this idea, I have office assistants who really don't (and shouldn't ) need to see our banking activities but do need to perform basic admin functions including updating inventory. As a small business, the lack of flexibility is causing me huge logistical problems.

    Please make this possible. I have an invoice only user who needs access to the inventory to create quotes, but I don't want to give him access to the banking, which is the only other option

    Totally agree. Please allow option to let an Invoice Only user have access for creating/editing products without giving them full access to bank accounts etc...
    It's a real issue for us and it shouldn't be that difficult to implement in the software.

    Totally agree with the above, we are in the exact same situation. We need our office manager to do our inventory, but we also need the bank details to remain confidential. It seems very odd to us that we can't just switch off the banking access? We currently have our office manager on the higher setting, as our Director does not have time to do the inventory, as you can well imagine. Definitely not ideal.

    Why would I want admin staff, who creates new product and checks inventory on Xero be able to see all the business banking including salaries.
    Is this being developed and resolved?

    Invoicing goes hand in hand with products and services. Can Xero please provide this as a fix asap.....

    This request has been lodged in May 2022 already and this is a critical function for business owners who has office staff responsible for inventory.

    Can we please get this updated to make everyone on Xero accounting's life easier???

    I am sure there are lots of business owners looking for this update, but not taking the time to vote on this page.

    Thank you Xero Team, we hope to see this upgrade before the end on 2022.

    The spectrum for access is far too broad. and needs to be refined so user access can be granted/retrcited to invoicing, being able to see relevant bank entries, however have no access to financial accounts and or other bank account pertaining to an entity that has numerous bank accounts for each business entity operating thorugh one had entity.
