  1. When XPM search finds a client, you can click the arrow > to the right of a result to view the client's name, basic contact details, enter time, etc. For clients that have a linked Xero file, it would be great to be able to click "Go to Xero" from here as well.

    Hey Chris, thanks for raising this Idea and we are excited to say that with the new PartnerHub release you will be able to click the Go to Xero option as XPM and XHQ come together in a new platform. You can find out more about the upcoming release here.

  2. Whenever a link is attached in Xero Workpapers, and that link changes or gets deleted, there should be an option to simply edit or replace the existing link — instead of having to delete it and add a new one each time. The current process causes unnecessary delays when preparing workpapers.

    Hi team, I’ve got some updates on the Edit Link - Not Delete Right Away feature for Xero Workpapers. This is a confirmed feature for the new Xero Workpapers solution and is currently in development as part of the new Workpapers solution being developed in partnership with BGL and in the upcoming roadmap. The goal is to address a major workflow pain point that was raised directly from customer feedback. The plan is for a phased rollout, starting with Australia in FY26, Updates on the release will be shared through the Xero blog as we get closer to launch. This feature is part of a broader set of improvements focused on enhancing review, collaboration, and compliance within the new platform. ⭐


  3. Currently you cannot edit the DOB in a client record in XPM for individual clients you can only edit if you export the database and re import it. For GDPR reasons it is important that we can delete DOB when a client leaves the practice. Please make this field so it can be deleted if required

    Hi Katrina, we appreciate the desire for being able to easily update your client data without the need to export. I'm pleased to share that this'll soon be enabled with the Xero Partner Hub which will incorporate this and many other improvements we know our partners have been asking.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate how quickly this idea has picked up traction from the community here.

    As you've likely heard through other communications we're in the midst of rolling out a unified Client experience as part of our wider Xero Partner Hub.

    With the new Client experience you can now;

    • Create a client without a TFN, as the Create Client flow has been updated to capture only the basic details
    • The TFN can be added later by clicking Edit once the client is created.
    • If you do try add a TFN that already exists on an archived client, an error message is displayed - you can get a view of what this looks like in my attachment

    Thanks again for sharing with us here and I'll be back to confirm when this new experience is live to all practices.

  6. Place of birth, like Director ID, is a field that is important for any individual clients who are company officeholders. Rather than having to keep this record in an external software, ideally we would have all the information about a client in one place, and as such, would appreciate a "PLACE OF BIRTH" field somewhere in the client record to facilitate this.

    Hi team, Xero Partner Hub was recently announced at Xerocon and will bring with it a whole heap of great changes we know our partners have been wanting to see. When building this, our team paid great attention to what our partners had been asking for in Product ideas and I'm pleased to share that within the new client experiences there will be a new field for Place of Birth on a Clients record. 😊 We appreciate your support through the product idea forums and will keep you updated as this rolls out.     It would be nice if the software could search by a entity's registered business names or previously know entity names and it bring up the current company file.

    We are able to add previous names or business names to the custom fields under a company's profile, but unless you know all the names by memory it can be hard to match up clients when you receive correspondence address to the business name and no ABN is mentioned.

    Currently when this occurs we have to either search ABN lookup or ASIC register and trying to get relevant information we can…

    Hi community, thanks for sharing your interest through this idea. We recently announced the Xero Partner Hub at Xerocon. It encompasses many improvements for our partners to be able to move more efficiently and serve clients. One of the changes that accommodates part of the idea here is that you'll be able to search the Client list by a clients organisation name, or legal/trading name as mentioned on this related idea.

    We appreciate there may be some practices using custom fields for this data and we want to be open that custom fields will not be searchable from the Client list. We have another idea for searching custom fields that you can join and follow for updates. You can find out more about Xero Partner Hub from our website.

  8. When reviewing WIP for a client you can't see the title of each job without clicking in to it. Could we please make the job column wider so we can see what the job is without opening it.

    Thanks for sharing with us here in Product Ideas, everyone.

    We're working on modernising the client record user interface(UI) and your idea here is being worked into this change.

    We'll first be making this available to our UK practices, with the aim of eventually expanding this to all regions. I'll be back to confirm as this starts to roll and give more detail of the change.

  9. Hi,

    For the Profit and Loss data (Revenue/ Expense/ Net Profit), should be an option to select last month as currently it's bringing up mid month data and comparing with full month information (ie. running the report 20th October and comparing with either full month Sep 2024 or full month October 2024. A lot of clients invoice end of month or after month end so adds little comparison value.

    For Cash Balances, ability to select which bank accounts are displayed might be worth considering. Currently showing loans, which skews the information into negative.

  10. A quick link from this years (active) workpaper pack to last years (archived) workpaper pack for this client would be so useful and save so much time. Accessing prior year (archived) workpapers is such a 🥴 workflow at present.

    Ideally this would be available on the Workpapers page (where you can see all workpapers) and take you to the same for last year, and it would be available on every individual workpaper page (and take you to that same page for last year).

    Hi team, we've been listening to your feedback and understand just how important it is to have an efficient workflow when preparing workpapers.

    As you may have heard, we've been working on a brand new Workpapers solution. This is a complete overhaul of our Workpapers offering, and we're thrilled to confirm that linking to the prior year's archived workpaper pack is on the roadmap.

    The new solution will include direct and seamless navigation between years, providing a link from the current year's workpaper pack to the previous year's archived pack for the same client. This'll save you significant time, making your compliance and review workflows much smoother. We're phasing the rollout, starting with Australia, with a global expansion to follow. I'll keep you updated here as this release widens.

  11. We are trying to move all client records to Xero away from a different software provider but we need custom fields that we have built in Xero Practice Manager to be synced with Xero HQ please. This way we will be able to filter our clients using the custom fields that we have created which will then match what we can do in the software that we are trying to move away from.

  13. I've been using Xero Workpapers now for 7 years. While I find it efficient and effective, there is certainly room for minor improvements.

    Yet, despite this list of product ideas from users, it appears that Xero hasn't actually made any changes to this product in the entire time that I have used it. Of the 91 product ideas, only 5 have been marked as 'delivered', 3 of which are not specific to Xero Workpapers, 1 was pointing out a feature that has always been there and the last was resulting from the removal of the old xero reporting (not really…

    Hi community, we understand wanting to hear from us around improvements for workpapers and we have some good updates coming with our new Workpapers solution!

    Some of the key enhancements you'll find in the new solution include; roll forward, direct ledger integration, granular user roles, and better collaboration tools. Once live to all we intend to continue iterating and adding enhancements to this new product.

    We've started release to our Australian partners now, with plans to release to to all regions in the new year.

  14. Having the ability to create a separate set of work papers for the practice that is confidential and not visible to all users.
    At the moment staff can see the practices private and confidential financial information.

    Hi everyone, we're working on a new Workpapers solution which will build a foundation that can support more granular access controls in the future.

    We have plans to enable the ability to restrict access to sensitive workpapers and documents, ensuring only the right people can view or edit them, and all actions will be auditable. We'll be rolling the new solution out in phases, and we'll keep you updated on the progress for permissions through this idea.

  15. It'd be extremely helpful to have a field available for any type of client where a registered business name can be recorded, and if the business name is searched in the client list, the entity that the business name is recorded against shows up.

    For example, if Joe Bloggs Pty Ltd owns the business name Bloggs Flowers, we could search for Bloggs Flowers in XPM and Joe Bloggs Pty Ltd would show up.

    Hi team, we want to share an update with you all here. As announced at Xerocon we have Xero Partner Hub which will combine all your practice tools into one experience. Along with the changes from the client list you will be able to add Organisation name and Legal/Trading name as columns which will be be searchable within the Client list.

    So, where a client's Xero org is connected this data will pull through to the list and you'll be able to search by the client name, organisation name or legal/trading name. Find out more and prepare for the Xero Partner Hub on our website.

  16. Sync all data to Xero HQ.

    We have been moved over to single client record and need notes and custom fields to be synced as well please.

    This would prevent the need to manually update client records and prevent risk of out of date data.

    Appreciate the need for succinct records, and we're pleased to share that this'll soon become a thing of the past with Xero Partner Hub - This'll combine your practice tools into one centralised experience. Meaning you have all client details in one place, no more need to update in HQ and Practice Manager 😊

  17. Opportunity to provide explanations for significant changes in balances (specifically profit and loss items):

    • It would be useful if the PNL review section of Xero Workpapers had an area to incorporate commentary on significant variances or that a balance is not material and therefore no further work on the balance has been performed.
    • This would add value in that you won't have to upload separate documents for each profit and loss line item

    Hi everyone, we appreciate raising the ability to add commentary on variances in the Workpapers Profit and Loss review and recognise the value this feature would bring to the workflow. Coming soon to all partners will be our new Xero Workpapers, along with many enhancements our customers have requested, you'll be able to add notes to all accounts!

    Rollout has just begun in Australia, with other regions to follow so I'll be sure to keep you updated when this is live to you all, here.

  18. We are getting an increasing amount of (sometimes angry) pushback from clients where when we add Administrators to our HQ account, they are automatically given full permissions over any linked client Xero files, as well as all our ledger files. We are a large firm with over 15 Administrators.
    Please give us the ability to CHOOSE, if we want to add all administrators to all files.
    OR
    Create an administrator role that doesnt need to add them as a USER to each client file.

    Imagine you have a Xero file for your own personal business, and suddenly notice 13 people…

    Hi team, we understand and appreciate the concerns around permission sets and giving staff access to clients. The Xero Partner Hub will introduce new permissions with more granularity to control what your staff can see and access within client files. These permissions will be independent of the practice role and can be assigned to anyone.

    The Admin role will continue to have automatic access to practice owned orgs, however you may like to consider whether existing staff still need this permission or if they can instead be given the Standard role with additional permissions for managing Clients or Staff.   19. Can we please customise client page on XPM to add a column for the Account Manager. We currently see the Client NAME, PH NUMBER, and ADDRESS. Can we please add Account Manager to the page?
    It would cut out a lot time when processing morning mail or directing phone calls from clients as this would mean we don't have to open the client file to see who they belong to.

  20. Currently, if I am looking at a Workpaper and I click on the Flag next to an account, I can add a Review Point for that account.

    That review point shows up in the list at the bottom of the workpaper.

    If I click the flag next to the account, I can see the review points that have been added to that account... but I can't see the replies to those review points and nobody can reply to them from that area.

    I have to scroll down to the bottom to reply to the review point.

    Hi team, as you might've heard we have a new Workpapers solution that will be rolling out to partners over the coming months. It focuses on creating a more streamlined and deeply integrated compliance workflow, taking on board many of the ideas represented in community here.

    While the new solution won't show the account name just yet, there is a reference to the account number denoted to the right of the review point. You can see an example in my attached image.

    We appreciate partners would still like to see the account name referenced and we have another idea that we're tracking interest in this for here, please do add your vote to that if you'd like to see this too.

    We'll be staggering the rollout with Australia first off the cuff, and other regions to follow in early 2026. I'll keep you updated of it's release here. Thanks!
