  1. NZ Tax 50/50 split to automatically prevent INC return from filing before P1 date. When selecting 50/50 split in the XPM Statements area, the INC return automatically drops all P1 payment details from the Income Tax payment schedule. It also suppresses the P1 tax notice from XPM Payments area.

Can it also stop the filing of the Income Tax return until after the P1 due date, or put a warning in the Audit Check that 50/50 has been selected and the filing date is not set.

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your thoughts on NZ Tax filing controls. It’s really helpful to hear how automatic filing prevention could support your 50/50 split workflows.

At the moment, Xero Tax doesn’t automatically hold returns before P1, so timing still needs to be managed manually. Some practices choose to set a future Tax Return File Date in XPM, which delays filing until the date they’ve chosen, though we know this won’t suit every setup.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining support, and it’s now open for the wider community to join the conversation. If you’re open to it, adding a little more detail about your workflow could help others see where this makes a difference.

For anyone else following along, we’d love to hear your experiences too. The more perspectives we gather, the better we can understand the need. Looking forward to seeing the discussion grow.

  2. For annual leave, sick leave and unpaid leave - have a link between practice payroll and XPM timesheets for practice staff.

Be able to show booked and taken leave clearly in XPM on the dashboard.

  3. When using client groups and clicking the Work in Progress Button, there is nothing showing when there is WIP in the group.

It appears the group name is not pushing through the WIP link to the filter properly.

Hi Ben, while WIP should be appearing for all the clients in the group our product teams have found an issue for some users where this isn't loading correctly.

We have intentions to fix this however a couple of other items that they have attention on first, I'll share when work for this gets picked up. Thanks

  4. To stop the autocorrection for daylight saving in the Timer. I know only happens twice a year, but is very frustrating trying to enter time when the Timer keeps adding (or removing) an hour from the time entered. For example - when enter 09.00 in the Start time, jumps to 10.00; then when enter 10.00 in End time, both the Start and End time jump to 11.00.
Please can have corrected so the time does not autocorrect.

  5. Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.

✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

  6. We should be able to customise this invoice date order as a default setting, it opens in no order and having to click on the Due Date twice every time to get the invoices in order of latest to oldest to check before billing on every client is a real pain and waste of time when we have to do it so often.
We would appreciate you looking at making this a customisable setting very soon, thank you

  7. When you select option "D" at "Have you applied an exemption, rollover or additional discount?" of a CGT worksheet, the return should automatically grey out/disregard discount as a CGT method because you cannot discount a capital gain if you are using option D which is the 15 year retirement exemption. At the moment it automatically discounts the gain and causes an error which does not explain that you need to change the gain to other

Hi Arnie, thanks for your feedback as part of the Xero Partner Hub beta.

I can see you're already joined in this idea for the Salutation when adding a new contact and we'll keep you updated on that through the idea there.

I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here to focus on the 2nd point you've raised for adding a logo so we can get a view of the interest in this too. 🙂

  10. I have many clients with distributions from 'family trusts' as well as managed funds.
In an individual return the details are entered or prefilled as required, but the worksheet for Item 13 Partnerships and Trusts doesn't include managed fund distribution amounts. This leads to much confusion when clients see the worksheet at Item 13 and the amounts don't match. In this case the worksheet for Item 13 needed to be added to a separate managed fund worksheet six page later - and this was a simple return.
The worksheet at each question should show the amounts totalling the amounts reported.

  11. For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.

And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.

Hi all, we can see how improving the capital gains worksheet in Xero Tax could really streamline things.

At the moment, there's no way to enter the number of shares bought and sold separately, even though these often happen at different times. Being able to match share quantities across transactions would make reporting more accurate and reduce manual checking.

We've also heard similar feedback around shared ownership. A suggestion to allow copying or transferring the worksheet to another return has already been raised and is gaining support. We've added your vote to that idea to help show how useful it would be.

This idea is now in Gaining Support. If this would help in your workflow, feel free to vote or share your thoughts in the comments.

Hi Martin, thanks for sharing this idea! We totally get how useful it would be to have a dedicated report for prepayments and miscellaneous invoices in Xero Practice Manager. It could save time, cut down on errors, and make reporting a lot easier.

Right now, there’s no built-in option for this, and we know the manual workarounds aren't ideal.

This idea is in the Gaining Support stage — so if this matters to you, we encourage the community to keep voting and sharing their inputs! Your feedback really helps us shape what comes next.

  13. Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.

We understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return. For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

  14. It would be beneficial for a warning to show to complete label 13U tax losses to be carried forward and/or when a losses schedule is required in a Trust or Company tax return when there has been a tax loss for the current year. This would reduce the risk that this label is inadvertently omitted.

Appreciate you raising this idea about tracking time on returns within Xero Tax, Neil. It’s something that can make a difference for teams trying to manage capacity or reflect on the actual effort behind each return.

This idea is now sitting in the gaining support stage, which means it’s open for others in the community to engage with. As more votes and comments come through, it helps the product team see where this functionality might be most impactful and what specific outcomes users are looking for.

If there’s a particular reporting format, integration, or manual workaround you’re currently using to track this, sharing that in the comments could be really helpful. It adds valuable context and helps show how this could tie into existing practice workflows.

  16. Automated reminder for Xero Sign Bundle expiration
I have just been caught out again with expiry of unused transactions in my signing pack of 150. Instead of being cut off at expiry date or having to remember to go and look it up could there just be an automated reminder. Also, for us small sole traders it would be great to have smaller bundles than 150, even 50 at a time. Even better, why not let us use all of our transactions we have paid for. Still need an automated message that they have expired.

Hi Angela, thanks for letting us know an automated reminder for your Xero Sign bundles would be a huge help, and we really appreciate you bringing this idea to our attention. For now, the best way to stay on top of your usage is to manually check your remaining transactions and the expiry date in Xero HQ > Xero Sign. A good workaround is to set up your own calendar reminder 🗓️ to check in on your bundle regularly. This will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. Right now, an automated notification for expiring Xero Sign bundles isn't on our immediate roadmap. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us understand which features are most important to you. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on any changes to the status of this idea. 🔄

  17. The ATO allows businesses to claim the GST on cents per kilometre based on the business Kilometres travelled. The Milage claim in Xero currently does not have any tax category which means milage claims aren't showing on the GST reports and have to manually added to the BAS otherwise businesses are missing out on GST if not added manually.

For example, If staff travel 100kms for business, then the claim should reflect the following
100 kms x rate of 88cents (FY2026) totalling to $88. the $88 is inclusive of GST of $8.

Hi Camilla👋, we understand the importance of being able to track and claim GST on business mileage and appreciate you letting us know this functionality isn't available within Xero. We know that not having this feature causes extra work to manually calculate the GST on mileage claims. While we don't have this feature at the moment, we’d like to acknowledge the workarounds of manually calculating the GST component of the mileage claim and entering this as a separate line item when processing the expense claim. We understand this isn't ideal and adds extra work, but it may help for now. We're still actively monitoring this idea to see how much support it gets from our customers 👀. As always, we'll continue to provide updates as we have them. Please continue to share your feedback and vote for the idea! ✅

Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your idea about being able to schedule the time to send a document pack.

We can see how having more control over when document packs are sent would be useful in managing your client communications more effectively. While this idea is still new, it’s been reviewed by our community team and is now marked as Gaining Support.

At this stage, we’re keeping the idea open to see how much interest it gathers—so if others would find this helpful too, please feel free to add your vote or leave a comment to share how it would benefit your workflow.

We’ll continue to monitor this idea and will post any updates here if things change.

  19. When making distributions to beneficiaries, we are able to distribute more than the income type recorded i.e. if there is $1,000 of interest income you can distribute $10,000 of interest income to a beneficiary if there are other types of income and it doesn't put the total at keypoint 21B in the return to a negative figure. It would be helpful if the over distribution of interest was picked up by the audit check.

  20. I’m reaching out to request assistance regarding a feature enhancement for Xero Practice Manager (XPM). Currently, XPM allows invoices to be pushed seamlessly to Xero Accounting (blue), which is incredibly helpful. However, I’ve noticed that proposals and estimates created in XPM cannot be pushed to Xero Accounting in the same way.

I would like to request that XPM be enhanced to support the ability to push proposals and estimates directly to Xero Accounting. This functionality would allow clients to take advantage of Xero blue’s interactive features—particularly the ability for clients to simply click a button to mark a proposal as…

Appreciate you attaching a screenshot to demonstrate your flow here, Badi. Just wanted to check as this is a public forum there's nothing sensitive in this that you wouldn't want others to see?

Can understand why you'd like to enhance the sync of information and save time in adding these manually in Xero blue.

Not something we have immediate plans of but we'll start collecting community interest for this through your idea and update if there are any plans made.
