Practice tools | Client - Add multiple email addresses for client
We need the ability to add multiple email addresses for a client. Not extra Contacts, but the main email address for a client. Currently you can only enter one email address, this is the address that tax payment letters (for example) are automatically sent to. However, some clients want these to go to more than one address. We have to keep a separate spread sheet and our Tax administrator needs to manually send tax payment letters to those clients.
Something similar to Xero Blue, where you can add an extra email address for invoices and statements to be sent to,…405 votesHi team, we thoroughly appreciate the support received in community on this idea overtime.
I am pleased to share that the new unified client experience has been released to all practices, that includes the ability to add multiple addresses for a client.
Xero Partner Hub is with a limited group of users atm, and will be rolling out to everyone in 2026.
As mentioned in my last update - knowing that there is also a great interest in being able to set a purpose for each email added we have created a new idea to continue to explore as we keep developing the experience. We will be sure to update you of any progress around this there.
Thanks for your engagement in the forums!

AU Tax - Ability to create future tax forms for other entity types.
Ability to have future tax forms generated for multiple entity types and not just individuals. This will enable practitioners to prepare tax returns for entities that have substituted accounting periods much before the due dates without having to request extensions from the tax office also will give us the ability to work out the timing differences on tax profit more accurately rather than relying on spreadsheets etc.
360 votesHi team, along with the CRT, future year forms for trust(TRT), partnership(PTR) and fringe benefit(FBT) are now available to all Partners within Xero Tax (AU)! Once again, thanks for all engaging and interacting with us about this on Product Ideas. We hope these new forms improve your efficiency to lodge client returns early 😊

Practice tools | Clients - Date of death field for client details
Date of death field to add in to client details would be helpful
260 votesHi team, thank you for everyone's engagement and support in this idea. With the new unified client experience now live to all practices we are pleased to return and move this idea to completed.
As mentioned in my previous update, with the new experience we have incorporated additional detail fields such as Date of Death for Individual / Sole Trader business structures.😊

AU Tax - Losses carried forward - Tax (AUS)
Losses carried forward have to be manually entered each year. It would be great if the information flowed through automatically from the prior year tax return. This will help to reduce risks that someone may accidently omit or incorrectly enter losses.
186 votesHeya team! With updates we've just released for Xero Tax in Australia, we've also provided the capability being asked here for Company Tax Returns(CTR) - If a CTR is in a tax loss position in 2024, we'll roll over the loss into a losses worksheet in 2025.
We appreciate there may be other return types our customers want losses carried forward for. To get better insight of interest around these we recommend raising new ideas for the specific type of return you'd like to see this feature with.
You can check out the full range of updates we've made in Xero Tax on Xero Central.

Xero HQ - Hold placement on client list
stop flicking us back to the 'A' names once we have finished in a clients file.. go back to where it was as it takes time to scroll through all and keep clicking 'show more or load more'
160 votesHi all,
We've made changes to the client list - you can now sort the client list using all the columns. You can merge or add clients to groups from the list page, and choose how many clients you would like to view per page.
Pleased to say that this specific idea is now released 🎉 Whether you've reloaded the page or navigated to another page and returned, you can expect that the previous page, filter or search is preserved.

Xero Tax(NZ) - Losses carried forward
Losses carried forward have to be manually entered into XPM tax each year. It would be great if the information flowed through automatically from the tax return so that all we have to do is confirm it matches the IRD assessment. At a minimum it would be great if the losses to carry forward figure from 2023 automatically rolled forward to 2024 once it has been confirmed.
117 votesHi everyone, we're pleased to share this has now been rolled out. When you create a tax return for a client any imported income, losses and opening balances data from Inland Revenue will be merged and pre-populated with prior year rollover data into the return.
When losses values in the return differ from the import from Inland Revenue, you'll see an audit warning when running an audit check or changing the status of the return. Thank you all for your contributions here and helping us develop Xero Tax to better suit your needs - See more on this in Xero Central.

Xero Tax(AU) | Add Division 293 to tax estimation sheet
Add the calculation of our clients Div 293 liability to the tax estimation sheet.
96 votesHi everyone, as noted by another user on this idea this has been available since the 2020 tax return year.
The division 293 tax calculation can be calculated by creating a Superannuation contribution worksheet on the individual tax return. Once the worksheet is completed, on the estimate click on the 'Show fields' button next to the heading 'Other amounts that may affect the tax estimate'

Xero Tax (AU) - Distribution from Managed Funds worksheet for TRT
Many our trust clients have investments in managed funds, e.g. Macquarie Wrap, etc. Unlike ITR, currently there is no "Distributions from Managed Funds" worksheet in TRT. This means, we need to enter Capital Gains and Foreign Income in the separate sections from "Distributions from Partnership/Trust" worksheet. It would be great if all components from Managed Funds distributions can be entered into one worksheet.
76 votesHiya everyone, this is now possible with the introduction of the Trust Income Schedule that's been made available through Xero Tax in Australia!
You'll find if a trust or beneficiary relationship has been set up in the client’s screen, these distributions save automatically from the trust return into the receiving return’s Trust Income Schedule - Read more on our changes through Xero Central.

AU Tax - Remove 0 in managed funds pre-fill from ATO
We have noticed an error, where, when managed fund distributions are prefilled from the ATO, a zero is put in the Item 24 - Other Income
This causes an error for each managed fund prefill that needs to be manually fixed by going in and deleting that entry in the schedule.
I just recently had a client with 15+ managed fund imports (owned jointly with his wife, so same issue on her side) which meant I had to waste quite a bit of time going into each schedule, only to delete the zero at the bottom.
If you could arrange…
71 votesHi team, pleased to share that we've now delivered a change where when you create an Individual Tax return with prefill, Xero will remove 0's for you.
This option will also appear if you re-prefill the return at a later stage after creating the tax return at which point if selected, a History event will appear on the return indicating 0's have been removed.
We really appreciate all the engagement and sharing on the impact this difference makes for you all here.

AU Tax - Trust tax returns | Foreign income should flow through to ITR and CTRs
Currently, only some distribution amounts flow automatically from a Trust tax return to the Individual and Company beneficiary returns, and others have to be manually entered. There is also no clear area to enter these items into the individual and company returns.
This leaves room for error and causes efficiency and quality issues.
Our previous system handled this very well. It had a specific schedule for this type of distribution income. All distributed amounts, including capital gains and foreign income should be auto transferred to the correct labels into the beneficiary tax returns.
56 votesHiya everyone, we have just released changes for 2024 tax returns. As part of this we're pleased to share that for the Trust Income Schedule foreign income and Capital Gains Tax events will now distribute from the trust return into non-individual tax returns. 🎉
Thank you for all sharing and engaging with us in the idea, here.

Practice tools | Staff - Apply Access Restrictions to Client tab
Similar to ability to restrict access to Xero Tax, its critical if we can have the ability to restrict access to certain client details. Currently you can search for any client details and there is no way to restrict access to this information. This functionality would be extra help for partners & staff members who are also clients of the firm.
55 votesHi team, the unified Client and Staff experiences are now live to all practices.
While you can't pick and choose which client details, with this new experience you can restrict staff access to specific client records. Read up more on Staff permission in Xero Central.
Thank you all for your engagement and supporting in this here. 🙂

Xero HQ - Allow users to see all clients and request access as needed
It would be great if ALL users (ie practice staff) in Xero HQ could see all Xero files. It should be obvious on the list which are accessible and which are not (ie if you didn't have access, the Xero org name could be greyed out)
In terms of access, if a particular staff member did not have access to a Xero file, they should be able to request access from a HQ Administrator (with mange user access of course) which can be granted easily. Would be handy to have a 'Why' comment field so the approver knows the context…
53 votesThanks for each sharing and engaging with us through product ideas here, team. As you'll have noticed we have introduced a new unified client and staff experience, combining Xero HQ and Xero Practice Manager.
There are updates to permissions and managing staff with this new experience and you'll find you can now grant a staff 'View' access to Clients - Learn more about managing staff permissions on Xero Central.
With multiple ideas wrapped into the one here we've created separate ideas so we can get a better understanding and insight for;
- Staff being able to request access to a client
- Providing a staff member temporary access to a client
We'd love you to vote on these if one or both would be useful to you. 🙏

XPM - Select Multiple Jobs to bulk change the job status
Could there be an extra column where you can tick multiple jobs so that the job status can be updated. Not only one job at a time.
44 votesHi team, thanks again for your input to product ideas. We have now released bulk actions for Jobs in Practice Manager.
From the Bulk actions button you'll find a number of items you can bulk update including; Priority, State, Start date, Due date and of course, Staff, Manager or Partner. 😊
We hope you find these actions speed up your workflow and make working with jobs that touch easier!

AU Tax | Company Tax Return - Partnership & Trust Distribution Worksheet
It would be good to have a version of the "Partnership and trust" worksheet from the individual tax return in the CTR as well. This would make it significantly easier to enter the correct amounts at 6D and 6E.
Having the appropriate amounts entered in the worksheet flow through to the capital gains schedule and the franking credits section of the calculation statement would also be advantageous as it would remove a lot of manual work associated with these items.
39 votesHey team, we've recently introduced the Trust Income Schedule in Xero Tax(AU). With the Trust Income Schedule if a trust or beneficiary relationship has been set up in the client’s screen, these distributions save automatically from the trust return into the receiving return’s Trust Income Schedule - You can find out more on these changes on Xero Central.

Xero Tax - PAYG Instalments Estimate For Individuals pre-ticked
PAYG Instalments Estimates pre-ticked
The Print PAYG Instalments payable on the individual tax return Estimate page defaults as "No". This needs to be manually turned on, and even if the client has generated instalments it will not appear on the tax return unless manually selected. Preparers and reviewers may miss this. If it was set on as default then it would not be missed.
38 votesThanks for all your support and sharing the importance of this change for you on Product ideas.
We've now released an update to move the 'Print PAYG' option from the tax estimate tab inside the print dialog so you'll see this option every time you print a return. You'll also be able to select this print by default.

Practice tools - Client report including connected Xero organisation
I would like to build a client report that shows the XPM client name but then also shows their Connected Xero organsiation (as this is often different to the XPM name).
35 votesHi team, we have now released the new unified client experience to all practices which brings your client information between Xero HQ and Xero Practice Manager together under one umbrella.
You'll find from the Client list that you can add a column for Organisation name, which gives the visibility of where the Client name differs to the Organisation. Along with this if you need a download for others purposes you can click the 3 dot menu in the top right of the page to Export clients including the organisation name.
Thank you for sharing with us on your needs in Product ideas.

New Xero HQ Staff page - ability to filter to client groups when assigning clients to staff
On the old Xero HQ staff page, you could click on the staff member, add clients, and then filter to client groups.
With the new Xero HQ Staff page layout, this ability has been lost and it's vital for adding clients in bulk to particular office groups, particularly for our new starters.
28 votesHi team, thanks for the feedback on this one. It's good to understand the different ways our practices assign Staff permissions to clients.
You'll find that within a Staff record, from the Clients tab there is a Groups option where you can filter all clients by Group to then assign access to those clients as needed. 😊

XPM - Restore “Archive” inside Client record for Standard users
Problem: Standard users can only archive clients from "All Clients" and "Groups", but can no longer archive from the actual Client record, even though Admin users can.
Impact: This is inconsistent and adds extra steps. Standard users need to leave the client, go back to a list or group, then archive. This wastes time and the feature already exists for Admins and used to exist prior to all these changes recently implemented.
Request: Add "Archive" back to the 3-dot menu on the Client record for Standard users, so archiving is available wherever client actions are shown.
25 votesHi team, pleased to share that this functionality has been reinstated and practice staff with Standard permission will now be able to archive a Client from the 3 dot menu in the top right of a Client record.🙂
Thank you for sharing on your needs and engaging with us here.

AU Tax | ITR - Managed fund distribution worksheet - discount capital gain prefilled incorrectly
Re Managed fund distribution worksheet, the field 'Current year capital gains - Discount method (Grossed-up amount)' was prefilled incorrectly.
It's prefilled with net amount instead of the grossed-up one, results in validation error, need to manually edited it.
It could be great if xero can fix this, thanks :)
24 votesHi team, apologies for not returning to this idea sooner. You'll find the Managed fund worksheet now has the ability to state whether the capital gains is reported as Gross or Net which will allow the Capital Gains Tax worksheets created to be correct.

Xero HQ - Business Client Dashboard
Xero HQ - Business Client Dashboard
I would like a section in Xero HQ to see key metrics across my business clients in the form of a dashboard screen.
The data displayed should be almost like an 'early warning system' for practice linked business clients that are falling behind on:
- Administration (Bank rec transactions, unlodged payruns/bas forms)
- Business performance is suffering (Significant decrease in quarterly sales, High 90 day+ debtors)
- Accounts hit certain thresholds set at a client level (Bank account overdrawn, GST/PAYG/Super Liabilities over a certain threshold)
This could also be used to spot client performing really well too.
…
21 votesHi team, as you may have wind of at Xerocon or one of our recent Roadshows we've been developing client insights which has just gone live for all Partners!
You'll find this within a new Insights tab available in both Xero HQ and XPM. It provides a view of all clients in one screen with a range of valuable information to help give you a snapshot of your clients health and help you quickly identify those that need attention and those that are doing well. Read up on finer detail, and dive in to start making the most of this tool. We hope this will save you time looking and comparing data, so you can spend more time helping your clients. 😊
