AU Tax - Single Login for Consolidated Client Signing History
Add functionality to merge client accounts used to access previously signed returns (via portal.xero.com). This would ensure that when a client updates their email address, their full record of signed tax returns remains intact and accessible through a single login with the new email. This eliminates the need to log in with multiple accounts to view the complete history of signed returns.
3 votesHi everyone, thanks for supporting this idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We can see why a consolidated history on signing would be useful.

UK Tax - Automate Company Number, UTR number and Companies House authorisation code
We enter company number, company UTR number, director name when setting up client but why does this not get processed when preparing the company accounts and tax. We need to enter the company number, Company UTR number, Companies House authorisation code and director signing the return every time we want to use XERO tax. Surely there must be a way to simplify this so entering this information every time is a thing of the past.
3 votesThanks for sharing your thoughts on auto-populating statutory company details. We appreciate you explaining how this could streamline your tax preparation workflow.

Report templates - Minimise hidden notes
Report Templates - notes (text blocks and schedules) to be minimised/collapsed when they are hidden instead of just greyed out so they don't take up as much space

XPM - Client group filter members
Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.
2 votes✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

Client list - Add Practice Admin access as a column
We manage user access centrally across thousands of clients and hundreds of users, and Managing Staff Access in Xero HQ and in Staff settings is very messy, particularly when Client Names and Xero Organisation names differ.
Xero HQ only searches over the client name and legal name, so if the Xero Org name is different, we can't find it, and causes confusion and time wasting, particularly when trying to edit staff access.
Staff permissions screens only shows the client name (often truncated) which adds to the issue, so trying to provide a staff member access to multiple Xero Orgs is…1 voteHi Franca, appreciate your feedback here and wanted to share a little more information as we untie your needs.
Within the new Client experience it's possible to search the following fields from the Client list
- Client name
- Organisation name
- Legal name
- Business number
- ABN (AU)
- TFN (AU)
- IRD number (NZ)
- Physical address
- Phone number
However, as you noted it's not possible to view staff permissions from this view. I've slightly updated the title of your idea to reflect this.
Being open we don't have plans for adding the level of practice admin access to the client list however we'll continue to track and share if any plans are made with you here.

Clients search - Business Name/Previous Entity Name Search Capability
Hi,
It would be nice if the software could search by a entity's registered business names or previously know entity names and it bring up the current company file.
We are able to add previous names or business names to the custom fields under a company's profile, but unless you know all the names by memory it can be hard to match up clients when you receive correspondence address to the business name and no ABN is mentioned.
Currently when this occurs we have to either search ABN lookup or ASIC register and trying to get relevant information we can…
17 votesHi community, thanks for sharing your interest through this idea. We recently announced the Xero Partner Hub at Xerocon. It encompasses many improvements for our partners to be able to move more efficiently and serve clients. One of the changes that accommodates part of the idea here is that you'll be able to search the Client list by a clients organisation name, or legal/trading name as mentioned on this related idea.
We appreciate there may be some practices using custom fields for this data and we want to be open that custom fields will not be searchable from the Client list. We have another idea for searching custom fields that you can join and follow for updates. You can find out more about Xero Partner Hub from our website.

AU Tax - Track time spent on a return
Can you automatically keep the start and end times when working on a tax return per user.
3 votesAppreciate you raising this idea about tracking time on returns within Xero Tax, Neil. It’s something that can make a difference for teams trying to manage capacity or reflect on the actual effort behind each return.
This idea is now sitting in the gaining support stage, which means it’s open for others in the community to engage with. As more votes and comments come through, it helps the product team see where this functionality might be most impactful and what specific outcomes users are looking for.
If there’s a particular reporting format, integration, or manual workaround you’re currently using to track this, sharing that in the comments could be really helpful. It adds valuable context and helps show how this could tie into existing practice workflows.

Xero HQ | Insights - YTD comparatives
on the Insights tab, be able to also compare YTD vs prior YTD
8 votesHi Serena, thanks for your suggestion to add year-to-date comparatives in the Insights tab in Xero HQ.
We’ve reviewed the idea and it’s now been marked as Gaining Support. This is a useful request that could add more context to client performance and make the Insights tool more valuable for advisory work.
We’ll be keeping an eye on how much interest this generates. If this feature would be helpful in your practice, feel free to add your vote or share how you'd use it, that kind of input is always helpful.

AU Tax - Create CGT worksheet from Trust Income Schedule (TIS) for non-individual returns
I'm completing my first Trust ITR for 2024, and inputting info into the new Trust Income Schedule.
The Non-PP income flows through to Item 8, but the Capital Gain isn't flowing through to Item 21...
WHY do you insist on SO MUCH double entry??!?
It's not even throwing an error, like the 'Managed Fund' schedule does in an Individual ITR??
57 votesAppreciate the conversations here. The other idea linked in this conversation that we delivered on was the ability for information to flow from the Trust Return(TRT) to Individual Returns(ITR) which is facilitated with the Trust Income Schedule.
We appreciate wanting to see further improvement in this space, and this is something we have intentions of looking at in the future, however we don’t have any timeframe right now. I’ll be sure to share any news with you all here.

Xero Tax fields in XPM to be importable and extended to UTRs for business tax clients.
Within XPM there are fields for individuals in the Tax section of Client with UTR and National Insurance number. It is not possible to import and upload to them, this would be useful as they then link to Xero Tax when filing a tax return. Currently we have them stored in a custom field as these weren't available originally. It would be good to be able to import all of our custom fields to the system's UTR and NINO fields.
There is also not a Tax section on Limited Company clients to add a UTR to. Companies need UTRs and…
3 votesHi Stewart, thanks for raising this idea. It’s clear that the ability to import Unique Taxpayer References (UTR) and National Insurance Numbers (NINO) is important to you, and we hear the pain points about the extra manual work involved in not having this feature. A possible workaround is using a custom field for now, which can help keep this data within Xero Practice Manager. ⭐I wanted to provide an update on this. At Xerocon, we announced new developments for Xero Practice Manager and Xero HQ that are designed to improve efficiency and help you manage clients more effectively. While I can't promise a specific timeline or confirm that this exact feature will be included, we believe these enhancements will help streamline many of the workflows you’ve highlighted. We'll be sure to provide another update as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your patience and for helping us…

Xero HQ - Connect client record when receiving subscription transfer request
Upon accepting a subscription transfer request, it would be great to have an option to "link to existing client record" or "create a new client record". There's currently no option for this and this creates double-up entries in Xero HQ which need to be manually removed, re-linked and archived.

Staff - Notify staff member of access level change
When adding a staff member to a client Xero file with advisor access, previously I was able to notify the staff member. That wasn't an option which meant I needed to go and manually tell the team member that I've added them.
I like being able to choose if I want to notify them or not because if it's something holding up workflow I want them to know so they can continue working but if I'm just adding them to the team they'll expect to have access so I won't want to notify them in that scenario.
4 votesAppreciate your feedback on the beta experience, Sarah. We'll start to get a sense of the interest from the idea here and I'll be sure to share if there are any updates planned for notification of permission changes.

UK Tax | Company - Allow change of CT600 date
Xero Tax pulls in the dates for the accounts from Companies House and assumes that the dates for the tax return will be the same. This might not always be the case - my example is due to the leap year causing problems
I filed returns to Companies House and HMRC to include 29 Feb as the guidance suggested using my previous software. This was all accepted fine but now I am unable to file a CT600 using Xero tax because Companies House have the year starting on 29 Feb but HMRC have it on 1 Mar.
There is no…
2 votesThanks for sharing this and explaining the situation you encountered. We appreciate you highlighting how important it is to have flexibility when filing dates don't align between Companies House and HMRC, particularly in leap year scenarios.

AU Tax - Ability to lodge FBT return for clubs & society structures
FBT Returns - I have been informed by Xero Support that FBT Returns can only be created for the following structure types:
Individual
Company
Trust
Partnership
Self Managed Superannuation FundNoting that individuals, partnerships and SMSF do not require FBT Returns it seems more prudent to make them available for the club and society structures who actually my have FBT to lodge.

AU Tax - Change default to 'Yes' for transfer capital gains to tax return on Managed Fund Schedule
On Managed Fund Schedule can the transfer capital gains to tax return default to "yes" instead of "no" ?
9 votesHi Lucy, thanks for sharing this specific feedback about our AU Tax module. We know that small adjustments to default settings can often make a big difference in streamlining a workflow.
We've reviewed your suggestion to change the default option to 'Yes' for transferring capital gains to the tax return on the Managed Fund Schedule. Your idea is now ready to gain support and feedback from other tax preparers in the community.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share if this default setting would better match their own process and improve efficiency when preparing returns.

Clients | Invoices - Sorting invoices numerically
The previous post on this one has been closed for comments, but the resolution isn't complete. The invoices are allegedly now sorting by most recent invoice number first, but it doesn't work when you go over invoice 9999 to 10000 for example, 9999 is at the top and all the 10000's are further down the page (which is significant for weekly invoiced clients).
Also invoices transfer from current to archived when there is any payment attached to the invoice, even if it is only part paid.
3 votesThanks for sharing and feeding back on the change, Megan. I'll share this back with the team. We'll let you know here if there are any further changes planned.

XPM - Allow staff to import job costs in XPM without admin access
Currently only administration level can import disbursements and such things. To give a staff member access would mean they also receive access to staff details and such things. Disbursements, especially bulk disbursements, is a task that is not and should not be done by upper management, to limiting access to them is problematic.
1 voteThanks for raising this with us Hannah! We have moved this Gaining Support and now it's up to you to share this with friends and colleagues so they can vote and comment on it. This is something Product is looking at so the more votes and comments the better they can assess the interest.

NZ Tax - Check of Overseas Income Jurisdiction codes to identify invalid country code
NZ Tax Audit Check of Overseas Income Jurisdiction Codes needs corrected to identify invalid country code UK and bring up a red error message. The correct code for the United Kingdom is GB not UK, the audit check should pick this up at the audit check stage which it currently does not. Thus when we go to file the return the return goes in to error as the jurisdiction code is invalid.
