  1. In other accounting management software, you can allocate WIP to a previously posted invoice. This is a really handy feature which prevents WIP being written off if a job has already been invoiced and no further invoices will be raised.
    It helps with budgeting and KPI's (preventing WIP writeoff).
    There are enough times when it has been needed, e.g. after a job has been completed and invoiced, and new information comes to light requiring a re-work.

  2. This request is for an additional “Trading As” name (or T/A) field to be added to XERO on “Contact” level. This T/A name must then also appear on the client invoices below the entity Legal Name. This T/A field must also be available separately on Client reporting level.

    Examples of current problems we are experiencing:
    The “Contact name” field is used to populate the name of the entity on the Invoices and various Reporting.

    This "Name field" in most applications or software programs must only contain the entity formal Legal Name. As several of our clients use a "Trading As"…

  3. Looking for a report that identifies clients who have registered for GST or PAYG with the ATO but have not lodged any Activity Statements (AS). This needs to be linked to the ATO. (some of these clients are new to needing to complete AS).

    We are currently using MYOB for this feature.
    Attached is a sample (this report does to PAYG etc)

    Hi everyone, thank you for contributing to this idea. We understand how useful it would be to filter the Insights dashboard by client groups in Xero HQ. Right now, you can filter the main Clients list by custom groups, but the Insights dashboard doesn’t support this filter just yet.

    The exciting news is that we’re currently working on the Xero Partner Hub, which includes exploring ways to enhance reporting and insights tools. You can find out more about what’s coming on our Blog.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your votes and comments play a big part in helping us understand how important this is to the broader Xero community and shape future product conversations. We’ll keep you posted here as more details come through!

  5. I think to reduce the risk of associated companies not being included in the CT600 in error box 326 should be left blank by Xero but compulsory so that that the return can not be generated without it.

    The same warning you get if trying to complete without boxes 975.

  6. Xero announced yesterday that the search via TFN and ABN are now both possible from the Client list. I have tested and we can still only search by using the TFN. ABN search is still not working.
    Is anyone else experiencing this same issue.

  7. When using the new Xero Beta FRS102 IA module based in Xero blue, You can lock the accounts to be sent for signature. But this is not reflected in the Xero Company accounts and tax module on Xero HQ, where the lists of what has and hasn't been done for workflow is kept. It seems to continue to show in progress in the status bar as well. This is important for maintaining Audit trails of who does the review and when things can be sent out.
    The final review on the CT600 is still there.

  8. In the Fixed Assets module, it would be helpful to have the option to link to the ATO's Effective Life tables when adding a new asset. This feature would allow users to search for the Effective Life of an asset. It should also be possible to overwrite this value, allowing you to input a different number of years if they choose to self-assess. Having access to the ATO's guidance would be extremely helpful.

  10. Company business structure tax returns should pull the physical address to the Dividends and Interests schedule, instead of the Postal address. It is not correct to put a PO Box or postal address in the schedule and you are not able to update the address field.

    Currently only Partnership tax returns will pull the physical address to the Dividends and Interests schedule.

  11. The ability to change the default button on a new bill to 'submit for approval' rather than 'save' - or whatever option works best for each organisation. Our processes require a separate person to approve the bills before they are paid. It is too easy to click 'save' or even 'approve' instead of 'submit for approval'.

    Hi everyone, we’ve created this idea based on feedback we’ve heard from the community.

    We know how important it is to be able to instantly search for a client when creating a job in Xero Practice Manager. Manually scrolling through a long drop-down list can be time-consuming, especially for practices with a large client base.

    Adding a search function here would make the process faster and more efficient, helping you get straight to work.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your votes and comments help us understand how valuable this feature is to the wider Xero community and support future development decisions.

  14. Make it possible to claim Land Remediation relief against profits. Should be a simple box addition to the existing form layout. Similar to how R&D currently is where you can claim against profits but not claim the credit when in a loss position.

  15. I have a number of Trust clients where we expect an assessment. The ATO takes a LONG time to issue these, so I think it would be good to have a similar Notice of Assessment flag like we do for individuals, so we can see which are still outstanding.
    Not all trusts have assessments but we should be able to trigger this by the question on the front page of the return about whether the trustee has tax payable.

  16. Add functionality to merge client accounts used to access previously signed returns (via portal.xero.com). This would ensure that when a client updates their email address, their full record of signed tax returns remains intact and accessible through a single login with the new email. This eliminates the need to log in with multiple accounts to view the complete history of signed returns.

  18. Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.

    ✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

  19. We manage user access centrally across thousands of clients and hundreds of users, and Managing Staff Access in Xero HQ and in Staff settings is very messy, particularly when Client Names and Xero Organisation names differ.

    Xero HQ only searches over the client name and legal name, so if the Xero Org name is different, we can't find it, and causes confusion and time wasting, particularly when trying to edit staff access.
    Staff permissions screens only shows the client name (often truncated) which adds to the issue, so trying to provide a staff member access to multiple Xero Orgs is…

    It would be nice if the software could search by a entity's registered business names or previously know entity names and it bring up the current company file.

    We are able to add previous names or business names to the custom fields under a company's profile, but unless you know all the names by memory it can be hard to match up clients when you receive correspondence address to the business name and no ABN is mentioned.

    Currently when this occurs we have to either search ABN lookup or ASIC register and trying to get relevant information we can…

    Hi community, thanks for sharing your interest through this idea. We recently announced the Xero Partner Hub at Xerocon. It encompasses many improvements for our partners to be able to move more efficiently and serve clients. One of the changes that accommodates part of the idea here is that you'll be able to search the Client list by a clients organisation name, or legal/trading name as mentioned on this related idea.

    We appreciate there may be some practices using custom fields for this data and we want to be open that custom fields will not be searchable from the Client list. We have another idea for searching custom fields that you can join and follow for updates. You can find out more about Xero Partner Hub from our website.
