Contact - Having custom fields on invoices and contacts
Ability to add a custom fields to a contact record that is able to be displayed on invoices
Purpose: Ability to include more information that’s unique to customers/business/industry that assist the transaction and relationship between customers
Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.
However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.
As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.

We have clients that would like to be able to add their own column in their sales invoices - one in particular, would like to add a column to show the serial number of their product sold so they can then sort and monitor the serial numbers and where they have gone to. Thanks.

I need to create an invoice which has the following fields
date, collect from, deliver to, qty, product, del note no and total. i was very disappointed that xero cant do this -

Addition of an additional field for date of service is a feature that is available in other accounting systems such as Quick books and also an important feature required to interface with other applications such as patient management systems. I waste a large amount of time having to manually edit the date into the description field for hundreds of invoices.

The ability to customise fields on invoices, especially a date field per item is critical to our invoicing. Currently, we have to edit the description field to include the date of the service.

I have to copy/paste formatted text, so that I can fill my "custom field" information into each product row, should the need arise. I also have to switch between saved formatted text documents to make sure I copy/paste the "custom field" text that is appropriate to the service done. I have created a custom invoice template but we are limited to the use of pre-defined fields.

We have used the Skype field to date to store a customer categorisation - that we then use when we pull the data through to Power BI. Now that the Skype field is no longer visible we'll start to use the NZBN field instead. But it would be great to have a user-defined field or similar to store such information

Legal billing requires each billing item to have a date. It does not require an item number. It has been a very frustrating process to try to customise the invoice to suit our requirements.

This is absolutely necessary as this may be required to give visibility to reseller customers who are selling products or services on to an end user. This has been open for a long time; please can this get some attention?

to be clear, we do not need to surface the custom fields on invoices. we need it for reporting. if this is possible another way, please let me know.

Can XERO please give us an update on where this is up to. Has the Development team even reviewed this?

Hi..
It is important to be able to have a column to the far right of an invoice table showing the total amounts also due in local or base currency Amount (Base or Default Currency), which we understand is NOT possible with the current Xero setup with invoicing...because we use Xero for different countries, and on the invoice for local VAT compliance reasons, we are supposed to display the details all translated into local currency, yet we would like to continue invoicing in USD, EUR, GBP etc.. which should then also be shown in local currency at least in the final columns.

Hi Team,
In the invoice header, I want to add the custom field that's called campaign month. so it's possible to add. if yes then can please send the document for that?
The problem is if create the invoice for the two months on the same date then the Issue date is getting the same.

Custom Contact fields, along with the ability to display them in a custom invoice template, would be a very useful feature for us.
Currently we are working around not having custom fields by repurposing some of the fields that are available, but not being able to add extra fields or associate two Contacts with an invoice and use fields from both is probably the biggest impediment to our continued use of Xero as our business grows.
