Reports - Report showing a list of suppliers and average supplier payment days
Xero already calculates the average number of days a business takes to pay each supplier (you can see it on individual contact records under "Bills"). But there's no way to pull this into a single report across all suppliers.
This matters because the UK Government's Fair Payment Code (which replaced the Prompt Payment Code in December 2024) requires businesses to provide evidence of their payment performance from their accounting software when applying for an award.
The Code has three tiers: Gold (95% of invoices paid within 30 days), Silver (95% within 60 days, with 95% to small businesses within 30…
11 votesHi everyone, we'd like to share (as some may have seen news of) we're working on reports that'll help provide businesses visibility of their payment performance. As a starter to address needs in this idea we're focusing on a 'Supplier days to pay detail' report that'll show historical payment behaviour across Suppliers. This'll be an exportable report can be used as evidence for UK businesses compliance with the UK Fair Payment Code.
We want to say a special thanks to Libby for all your engagement with our product team, and to all our UK Partners that helped test with us during our recent XeroCon in London.
I'll be back to share once this report goes live!

GST Reconciliation Report - Save the filed amounts entries
AU There was a discrepancy between GST ac balance at EOQ on the Balance Sheet & the GST refund for the end of quarter BAS. Using the GST Reconciliation report would be a lot more helpful if the Filed Amounts could actually be saved and continuously show the correct unfiled running balance amount and the section "GST Account Summary " for unfiled GST was actually correct as a cumulative balance. I just did 3.5 years worth of GST Reconciliations and nothing saved so all the running balances are wrong and don't flow correctly from one year to the next -…
29 votesThank you for your candid feedback and engagement on this idea. The good news is we're actively working on a complete rebuild of this report on our new reporting platform ✨. This project is a top priority and is specifically designed to solve the issues you've raised. The new report will automatically pull in filed return amounts, allow you to drill down into transactions, and always show a correct, cumulative unfiled balance. We're in the development phase, and we’re also actively gathering feedback on the ability to make manual adjustments in the new report, which we know is a critical requirement. We are committed to delivering a report that makes this essential part of your workflow easier and more reliable. We'll be back with another update as we make progress 😊

Workpapers - NZ Tax calculations
For NZ tax calc we reconcile to the figure after Dividends and tax expense. I see that there has been an update done (I am assuming for Australia) which is not suitable for NZ. Can you have an option for the tax amount to be either pre or post?
1 voteHi Joanne, I just wanted to share an update as checking in with our product teams - from the screenshot you shared around the tax provision in the Balance Sheet Income Tax Reconciliation pulling in the wrong sign. This is something that we're working on right now. I'll come back to let you know once this is fixed.

MTD for IT - Make available to users without a Xero partner
Allow self employed who are not VAT registered to use MTD.
I've just signed up to submit accounts via MTD with HMRC but Xero currently don't allow me to do this unless I use an accountant. I use Xero so I don't need an accountant... I'm now a bit stuck as HMRC require me to submit account for the current 2025-2026 tax year this way and I have no way of doing this. Please help! thanks.2 votesThanks for your interest in Xero’s MTD for IT beta and for sharing this idea here. In the first phase of our beta, we’re only supporting Xero Partners.
However this will be rolled out to users without an accountant, please complete our expression of interest form to register your interest and we’ll be in touch when we have more information on expanding the beta. You may also like to check out the MTD for the Self employed guide on the Xero website.

Manual Journals - Import additional lines into an existing manual journal
Since system allows to import manual journal with up to 300 lines cap, it would be of high value to have a feature to import additional lines into the existing manual journal (especially that we found an instruction on how to do that, but there is no functionality withing the Xero product)
Or as another alternative, if there is an option to merge existing manual journal entries than it will work perfectly as well.8 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing your needs in adding more lines to an existing manual journal.
We're in the process of rolling out a modernised Manual Journals experience.
As part of the new design you'll be able to copy from a spreadsheet and paste lines directly into the journal grid, making it faster and easier to enter larger journals.
While this isn’t the same as importing additional lines into an existing manual journal or merging journal entries, we're keen to hear your feedback here if this solves your particular needs.
I'll round back to confirm once this new experience is rolled out in all regions.

Invoicing | History - Show detail of action made
With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?
42 votesHi everyone, we wanted to provide an update of a recent change we have made where you'll now see the email address of the primary email entered in the To field is recorded in history each time an invoice is sent. You can read more about this change in my update here.
As mentioned on that thread there are a couple of unique scenarios we are tidying up and I'll return to confirm once that is complete.

Financial Accounts - Switch rules effect notes
Would like to see switch rules work in the notes to the financial accounts the same way they work on the balance sheet - allowing for reclassification of accounts with negative balances, for example negative current asset to current liability or negative non-current liability to move to non-current asset.
These issues are particularly acute when an account goes from positive to negative and vice-versa between current year and prior year.
On the basis the switch rule does not operate correctly in the notes to the financial accounts, means that in many cases the switch rule is rendered an unusable feature…
59 votesHi community, appreciate wanting an update from us here, and we'd like to thank those that have additionally added their support since our last update.
I’m pleased to let you know our reporting product team is working on a new synced notes experience that's intended to keep notes aligned with the source report, including carrying through switch rule behaviour.
We understand current behaviour means figures can stop matching when switch rules move balances between groups in the source report. - The work our team are doing is designed to solve that by allowing you to create synced notes from groups in a report. These synced notes will stay connected to the source report and respect switch rules, helping the related note figures stay aligned.
We've already started rolling this out for AU and NZ customers and I'll round back to confirm once it is live to all regions. 🙂

Fixed Assets - Automatically update depreciation start date when changing year end dates
It would be great if Xero dealt with changing balance dates more efficiently. If the balance date changes it should be able to automatically calculate the opening book value, then calculate the depreciation for the new financial year end as per usual. Currently its very manual and time consuming as it reverses all journals posted since you started using Xeros fixed asset feature. Very odd and very frustrating!
18 votesHi all, we wanted to round back here to share for those in the UK that we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date.
To recap for anyone new coming across the idea - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero.
- Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.
- The same applies in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.

VAT - Ability to sort, filter and search from within tax rate or tax box
VAT - Ability to sort, filter and search what is in each tax box or tax rate when reviewing a tax return. This will help when reviewing a return before submitting.
17 votesHi everyone, thanks for engaging us on the idea here.
As previously shared - right now, the transactions report on the VAT return can be exported, fro which you can sort, search or filter transactions.
However we appreciate the improvements this could have if available in Xero.
This is something our product team have picked up and are working through. For now, we'll move to In development and I'll keep you updated on it's delivery here. 🙂

User Role - Allow users access to specific reports
Ability to only allow some users to access specific reports.
Purpose: Because in some organisation, only some people can only see the information for some reports.
340 votesHeya team, we're now actively testing how reports could be grouped and accessed, and we'd love your input in this, so we can design a better report grouping structure that supports role-based access in reporting.
Get involved! Complete a quick 15-min online activity to test how reports are grouped and accessed:
- Part 1: answer questions about the current report grouping
- Part 2: explores a new grouping and role-based report access

Manual Journals - Assign Contact name to journal
The ability to assign contact in manual journals.
Purpose: To enable to track journal entries with contact name
316 votesThanks so much for your continued interest and feedback about how valuable adding a contact to a manual journal would be for you, your business, and clients.
We wanted to share that we’re making good headway in this space. For customers in the US, we’ve now released our new manual journals experience, which lays important foundations for us to build on capabilities like adding contacts to manual journals.
While this specific functionality isn’t available just yet, it's still on the roadmap and is actively being worked through by our product team. We’ll continue to share updates as progress is made.
