  1. When notes run over two pages - fix formatting so that if a note runs over two pages, it automatically creates a page break so that it appears together.

    I understand there are already page breaks, but it is diffcult to know as each client is different what notes are requried and and such you need to export to PDF many, many times, before the formatting is correct.

    Thanks for engaging and sharing details of where things could be more efficient for you when working with Xero, everyone. We believe a recent change we've released in reports should solve the pain in formatting for you, here. We've released a new in product PDF Preview, so when you're editing the layout of your reports you'll be able to update the preview and see any changes you've made to your report as it will appear when printed.

    While not completely automated, this means you no longer have to export to PDF time and time again. 😊

  2. With the new basis period changes coming into effect, some clients may want to change their year-end from 30.09 to 31.03. Currently changing the year-end in Xero will cause previous opening balances to change and most likely mean any working papers produced in Xero will no longer match the accounts.

    It would be a useful tool to have something whereby a previous accounting period end could be locked so a new year-end could be chosen without messing up the old year-end balances.

    Hi team, I can now confirm we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings. 

    Just to recap for anyone new coming across the idea here - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero. 

    • Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings. 
    • The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.

  3. Xero aged payables- the old reports were much clearer and useful.
    We would like to be able to set the report so we can have the dates along the top and invoice date rather than having to go in every time and have to manually change it. It has become quite laborious.

  4. The short-term cash flow projection should allow 2 weekly/fortnightly expense predictions (instead of just weekly and monthly predictions). The current absence of this feature currently results in incorrect cashflow forecasts (e.g. we pay wages every two weeks, so the timing of our wages prediction is always incorrect).

    Thanks for your feedback, it's good to hear how you're using short term cashflows.

    Predictions within Short-term cash flows should be generated for recurring amounts based on the last 3 months. 

    Our tool looks for weekly, fortnightly and monthly payments - the dates, amounts and contact have to be fairly consistent each time for a prediction to be generated.

    If you do find you're not seeing predictions you'd expect to appear for fortnightly payments do raise a case with our team of specialists so we can take a deeper dive into why this may not be showing in Short-term cash flows. Thanks 

  5. The show archived accounts checkbox is unchecjed in the accounts transaction report as default, or able to be unchecked. Currently it is ticked and needs to be unchecked every time you go into the report.

  6. Customer Invoice Report is being retired but there is no equivalent new Report to provide a list of Invoices issued. This report is essential for monitoring invoices issued and payments received where the Xero subscription is for a non GST cash book.

    Hey Jill, the Receivable Invoice Detail and Summary reports have been set up with new common formats and filters that should replicate most of the functionality in the old reports.

    For example, to view all your paid Invoices within a specific date range, you can run the Receivable Invoice Detail report with a filter for "Last payment date".

  7. The Reconciliation Report pack is a critical part of our working papers and gives us multiple reports in one pack with one click. This report is being retired in July with no replacement in sight. Creating our own seems like a step backwards and from what I understand about creating report packs (which admittedly is not great), it will be difficult to add multiple bank account rec reports to a customised pack, not to mention that each business has a different number of bank accounts.     Just following up from our last update - this is now live!

    As you might've seen on this similar idea, we've rolled out a new Bank Reconciliation report pack. As part of this release, the Reconciliation Report will automatically add a Bank Reconciliation Summary for each bank account, fulfilling this request 🎉

  8. Ability to close and lock a period for accounting and reporting purposes to ensure that, once figures are reported and published, those figures do not change. Any necessary changes (VAT rates, corrections etc) to source documents could be made but the impact should fall in the current, open period.

    Hi team, returning to the idea here there are a few separate asks being raised. As mentioned in my last update on the idea here - currently for reporting purposes you can Publish report to keep a record of accounts at an as at date in the system. Alternatively to stop transactions being raised in past periods there are the existing lock date options.

    We have separate ideas for the recording a posting versus invoice date and another for setting separate tax and accounting period lock dates that I'd recommend adding your votes for if this is more what you're after.

    Hi team, appreciate your feedback of improvements we could make to the Budget Summary to help you here. We've recently released a new Budget Summary report, and you'll find within the new report there's a Total column!

    If this doesn't automatically appear for you, just click the More option to select 'Total' and re run the report. 🙂

  10. The old journal report allowed one to search for Manual Journals, the new report does not; it would be invaluable to drill down into the new journal report to search manual journals only :-)

Currently, when preparing financial statements or other reports in Xero, you have to export the report to PDF to work out if you will need to insert page breaks to keep all related content on one page, or to ensure that a heading doesn't end up on one page and the information on the next. This can sometimes mean exporting a report multiple times if there are multiple page breaks required.

    Hi everyone! Today we released the new preview panel to all users 🥳

    Any report that you can edit the layout of now has a PDF preview on the right of the screen. You'll be able to instantly see how any changes you're making to your reports will be reflected (including page breaks).

    We thoroughly appreciate the input and feedback we've received from customers which has helped refine this end result. Thank you

  13. General Ledger Exception Report

    Getting new updates and new reports is fine but can you please keep this GL Exception report (old version) or else make arrangements to create the same report in the updated versions of General Ledger Reports.

    This report is very useful and crucial for setting up work papers.

    Hey community, thanks for your interest in this idea, and for sharing your feedback on the new reporting experience.

    We’ll be rolling out a new version of the General Ledger exceptions report, and you should see start to see it pop up in your reporting centre from today 🎉 

    Unlike the older exceptions report, this is a dedicated report. So you'll no longer need to navigate to the GL Summary to find it - saving you a couple of clicks!

  14. Hello

    Would it be possible to have the old v1 General Ledger report in blue Xero that was recently replaced with a new General Ledger Summary and General Ledger Detail report still available to be used.

    The new versions a good and can be formatted to look close to the old report but the old report exported to Excel really well with gridlines still showing and reasonable column and row sizes so large amounts of data can be viewed at once.

    We've just released the change! 😁 As per my last update - you should now find the report easier to read and work with with updates to some of the sizing of fonts, consistency in the format of cells, and overall reduced zooming of the reports when you export to Excel. Thanks again, for your support in helping us make reports better for you.

  16. Could we please have an update on Manual Journals, so if you extract the Journal report it would so the narration/ description we add the each line of the journal report.
    Also if we can print PDF a specific journal so it flows well with the above information

    Hi Navisha, our team have been making lots of development with Xero's new reports. 

    Yesterday we released the new Journal report where you'll find you can add both Narration & Description as separate columns in this report. 

    Once set up, you can export the report to PDF, Excel or Google Sheets 😁

  17. It would be really useful if the journal report could be filtered on posted date as well as transaction date, currently they can just be filtered by posting date.

    That way you could quickly highlight transactions that were posted in a period, after a certain point like a VAT return submitted or trial balance exported for accounts preparation.

    Thanks for your idea here, Adam. Our reporting team have just release a new version of the Journal report where you'll find this is now possible!

    Along with more detail, you'll find there's the ability to Filter by any column added, including Posted Date 😁

  18. I wish to see if invoices are paid on unpaid when pulling account transaction reports.

    Accounting - Account Transaction Report - Columns - (add if we can see if bill/invoice paid or unpaid)

    There is no way currently when pulling this report to see if the bills are paid or not.

    Apologies for not seeing your response here sooner, Jayden. Thanks for sharing that image. I do hope you've got your answer already but to confirm for anyone viewing here - That screenshot appears to be the Account Transactions report. 

    To view paid or unpaid invoices or bills you'll want to run the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports. This is a slightly different report to what you're looking at and can be found in the Payables and Receivables section of the reports centre.

    Hi Tara, to offer flexibility users can drag & drop accounts to change the order of where they appear in Financial reports (including within a group) through the Layout editor

    Being open we don't intend to create an auto ordering feature with this option available. 

  20. The Trust - Annual Accounts Xero SPFR template for trusts > Notes to the Financial Statements > 1. Reporting Entity states "Legal or Trading Name is a trust established by a trust deed dated [insert field: trust deed date], and subject to the Trustees Act 1956." this is incorrect as the Trusts Act 2019 passed on 30 July 2019 has replaced the Trustee Act 1956.
