Profit and loss + Statement of cash flows combo report
Business owners need to see the P&L and the Cash in one place. Please combine the P&L and the Statement of Cash Flows into one report so they can be viewed together.
This is how it is in professional 3 statement financial models: P&L with Cash flows directly below.
Providing a combo report would save many hours in combining them manually!
2 votesHi Patrick, you could do this with Management reports in Xero. You can add both the Profit & Loss and Statement of cashflows reports when creating a new pack🙂

Reporting - Duplicate Supplier Bills
Xero will alert if there you are posting a duplicate manual bill but not if the bills are imported. Being able to run a report to show any duplicated supplier invoices that have slipped through the net would be amazing.
2 votesThanks for confirming, Kayleigh 🙂 In this case you should find the Payable Invoice Summary report which you could either Group or Filter for Reference 'contains'. This way you should be able to scroll through your invoice within the date range and quickly pick up where there is more than one bill entered wit the same reference.
I've attached an image from our demo co. for reference on filtering

Profit & Loss - Show Invoice Numbers
Currently there is no functionality in Xero to populate the invoice number in the Profit and Loss report while the reference field is filled out. Would like to have the invoice number to be shown as well for easy reference and checking.
3 votesHi team, as noted in my last update you can click on the figure in the Profit & Loss which drills down to the Account Transactions report.
You'll find that you can adjust the report settings to add 'Invoice Number' as a column so you can see both pieces of information on the report.

Default dates in reports
With the old reports we were able to set the report dates and then save the link. For example for the 2022 year I have the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Journal report, Accounts receivable etc with the default date 01/07/2021-30/06/2022. I have saved these links into a folder on my browser and then whenever I open up the report to whichever client file I am in in automatically defaults to this date. Is there any way the new reports can default to an annual date so that we don't have to keep refreshing the date every time…
2 votesHi Ineke, this is possible in the newer versions of reports. Once you have the report set up as you like you can save as Custom.
There are both common date formats such as Last Month, This year etc, or you can set a custom date range.
Once you've saved the custom report, you can also make this more readily available by favoriting it. 🙂

Reports - Use custom report layout across all organisations
This is so customers can use the same custom made report layout for multiple entities.
22 votesHi everyone, appreciate your interest and sharing on the idea here. Right now Report Templates offer the ability to create a custom report layout that can be used in multiple organisations.
To access Report Templates you must be a Xero Partner, if you don't have one you can find one through the Xero advisor directory.

Report which shows which Bank Account something came from
I have multiple bank accounts in Xero in which I reconcile payments to the same Chart of Account. I would like to be able to run a report which shows me how much logged against a particular Chart of Account came from each bank account. While at the moment it will show you this in the report it will not total it meaning I have to export to excel and add another step.
1 voteHi Stephen, with the Account Transactions report you can include 'Related account' as a column.
If you then select the Bank Account you're wanting to look at and Summarise by Account this will allow you to view all transactions through your banks and see the chart of account it was coded too.

Account transaction reports - View description and account coded to
It would be very useful to be able to create Account Transaction reports for individual or grouped bank accounts that show detailed descriptions and split transactions and which account (chart of accounts) each item in the split transaction is allocated to.
1 voteYou can already do this in the Account Transactions report, Ann.
You can select to add Description and Related account as columns so you can see the detail and account each line was coded too.

Report Settings - Option to set defaults for cover page & content page
for blue xero, we have to continually tick COVER PAGE, CONTENT PAGE, and other functions. Please allow us to set a permanent setting so we can generate the reports more quickly
4 votesHi team, while not completely obvious this is already possible from Xero HQ.
In Xero HQ, when opening a report template there is an Options button which contains Publishing defaults where you can choose to automatically include or exclude Contents page and Cover page.

Reporting - Customisable Graphs
Recommendation is to add graphs as a report on Xero. Clients can see their turnover an example over a few months which can be sent to them direct from Xero !
15 votesHi everyone, thanks for your support and sharing on this idea. As some may have come across Xero now has Analytics.
Analytics enables all Business edition orgs (excluding Simple plan) to explore and customise visualisations and dashboards of the organisations key financial data, which can then be shared via link or export with colleagues or clients.
You can access these features via the navigation in your Xero homepage through the 'Reporting' tab.

Aged report - By contact group
We have created contact groups (Accountants Names) and have allocated all of our contacts to their accountant. We want to print a list of the overdue debtor amounts for each accountant so we can follow them up but there is no report that does this.
1 voteHi Kylie, you can achieve this with the Aged Receivables summary report where you can either group by or filter to a particular contact group 😊

Payable invoice detail report - Filter to show "No VAT" transactions
Payable Invoice Detail reports - Ability to Filter VAT Rate Name and VAT Rate (as one can in Receivables)
In the Receivable Invoice Detail Report, the filters include both the "VAT Rate Name" and "VAT Rate". These are not currently available in the Payable Invoice Detail Report, but would greatly assist anyone trying to reconcile the figures in this report with those shown on the VAT Return. As such it is essential to ensure that the figures submitted in Box 7 of the VAT Return are accurate.
2 votesHi team, the Payable Invoice Detail report has filter options for both VAT Rate and VAT Rate Name. Including an option under VAT Rate Name for 'No VAT'

New Reporting - Automatically include cents
On the new reports the cents are always off and when you are reconciling the bank to me as a bookkeeper you want to cents to be included and not having to tick an extra button to say please include. I have noticed the reports have been geared towards accountants and not bookkeepers as all my reports have cents on them however the bank reconciliation report it's just doesn't make sense to me. Or if you could set in your set ups to always include cents and then this stays that way in the entire Xero file that would be…
1 voteHi Anja 👋 we just released Report preferences to everyone from today!
If you have the Adviser or Standard role you can access this from Advanced settings - see more on this here 🙂

Xero Tax: Pull contact information from completed W9 form
It would be great if Xero could extract data from the form W-9 and update the associated fields in the contact.
1 voteHi Elizabeth, I know it's been some time since you initially raised this, and hopefully you've already seen that we have now delivered a solution for W-9 that solves your idea here 😊 You can find more detail on how you can request W-9 details from your 1099 contacts on Xero Central. Thanks for sharing and engaging with us in Product Ideas.

Custom Report - Update-able date column
When building custom reports, currently there is no way to add a Date column that updates to match the date range specified when viewing the report.
This is available on all pre-defined reports, but can not be added as part of a custom report.
There are many cases where it is desirable to build a report template that can be run for different, user-specified, date ranges, without having to edit the report each time.
21 votesHi community, rounding back on the idea here this is now possible. When editing layout to add columns you'll see there's an option to 'Follow report date range' so your custom date columns will automatically update based on the date you run the report for. Thanks

New Customer Invoice Report doesn't have the original currency
The new report that replaces Customer Invoice Report called Receivable Invoice Summary, is missing a very important function, the ability to report in the currency that it was invoiced in. The report only shows the converted FX amount in AUD.
7 votesHi community 👋, our Reporting teams been making a lot of improvements to the newer versions of reports to enhance for the 2features we know customers value most in the older versions.
Recently, they released an improvements to both the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary and Detail reports so you can now add currency columns to view invoices in the original currency they were invoiced.
If you prefer this view, once you've added the columns to your reports you can save as Custom to make this easily accessible any time. 😁

Reporting - Default column order in a financial report
Please add an option to change the default column order in a financial report for a user. This would save quite a bit of time when building long run trend graphs etc
1 voteHi Les, this is possible through the use of Custom reports. Once you change the format of the report, Save as custom where you'll also find you have the option to make this the default.
It will need to be set up for each financial report you'd like to implement this across, but once done can be an easy select each time it's used by yourself or another in the org.

Contact - Year on year revenue report
The ability to analyse year on year customer revenue by selecting your time frame and comparing across a number of selected years (this is what I would like) or by month / year. Allows to have a quick snapshot on how each customer account is performing and address any obvious loss of custom / sales. A basic analysis report but a highly useful and informative one. The ability to compare in this way exists on Xero for profit and loss but not for customer accounts.
1 voteHi Caron, the Income by Contact report should give you what you're looking for here 😉
You'll find similar ti the Profit & Loss you can set your comparative periods, as well as view a chart of your top 10 customers!

GL report - Include tracking categories
General ledger reports include tracking categories
5 votesHi team, as previously noted although not in the General Ledger specifically it is possible to get this information running the Account Transactions report in Xero, this can then be exported if you'd like to make use outside of Xero.
We'll mark this idea delivered with the option above, if there's particular reason you need this detail in the General Ledger welcome to add this idea back in the forums and please detail your needs to be considered.

Account Transactions Report - Show VAT for Bank Accounts
To enable VAT to be shown on Account Transaction Reports for BANK ACCOUNTS
.
When reconciling the VAT to the VAT Reports, it is necessary to pick up the VAT from each type of transaction. We can pick up some of the outputs from the Sales Day Book (Receivables Invoice Detail) and some of the Inputs from the Purchase Day Book (Payable Invoice Detail) but what of the VAT which is dealt with straight from the Bank Account with no related Invoice / Bill.VAT Inspectors require a clear audit trail and although the VAT Reporting itself shows each transaction,…
7 votesHi team, we wanted to return and provide a further update to the idea here understanding it's still getting some attention. As mentioned in my last post we introduced a common format('Account Transactions with tax rates') within the General Ledger Details report that provides a more direct overview of the tax entered for all transactions in your organisation. It includes all transactions that have a tax implication to the ledger regardless of where they came from.
To provide a bit more on how tax treatment is shown and how Xero works - Xero automatically splits transactions to record the tax element of a transaction based on the tax rate selected on lines of your transactions, this saves you time having to record the apportionment in separate lines.
Bank transactions that are shown in reports are the amounts that have been received in your actual bank account and there fore they…

Reporting - Net Sales
To have a report for NET Sales for a month. Currently there is a report that only shows what's payable with VAT (not all sales are vatable) so, when trying to reconcile with the in-house ordering program it becomes a whole big xcel spreadsheet exercise...... takes to much time. the report also includes Prepayments which are not goods sold, but money transactions in advance
1 voteHi team, returning to the idea here we will mark this delivered. As noted in my last update, with the Receivable Invoice Details report you can add Net and Gross columns to the report, as well as filter by Status if needed to zone into a group of invoices.
Once the reports set up you can save as custom to access the report with this setup anytime.
