Reporting - Ability to hide Formula Rows in reports if the result is zero
It would be great to be able to hide formula rows in reports where the result is a nil balance. Currently we get multiple repetitive total lines on reports when there is no activity cluttering up the reports unnecessarily.
1 voteHi Kerrin, thanks for raising this. It’s easy to see how automatically hiding custom formula rows with no activity would make reports cleaner and easier to read.
Without this option, reports can feel cluttered. That often means sharing something that looks busier than it needs to be, or exporting the report just to remove empty rows manually—extra work that defeats the purpose of using the report builder.
I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand interest in more report-level formatting options. If you’re able to comment with the specific reports where this would be most useful, it’ll help other users understand the use case and help the idea gain traction.

Reporting - Add a quick part access to compare previous months on Balance sheet report
I thought it would be a good idea in the standard balance sheet (compare previous months)
If there was a tick / option to have this in reverse order

Repeating Journals - Option to switch from "post" to "draft"
I would like the ability to stop repeat journals set to "post" from posting automatically and edit them to generate as "draft".
I can't see a way to do this currently and have to delete and re-create which is tiresome

Reporting - New section for Bank Reconciliation reports
There are a number of things bugging me regarding the essential task of reconciling bank accounts. The Bank Reconciliation Reports are easy enough to create, but after that it all goes wrong. Nobody seems to have thought about what happens to them after the 'Publish' button is pressed! Here's what I think - and please please please vote for this or nothing will change.
1) I would like to see bank reconciliation reports having their own dedicated space. They are currently hidden away in Reports>Published, mixed up with all the other published reports. Please create a new Bank Reconciliation Reports…

Contact Report - Reports with entity classification and DBA info
When pulling a Contacts report (expense by vendor, cash payments made to vendors, etc) out of Xero, please add the ability to "turn on" more fields from Contacts. For 1099 purposes, it's crucial to see "business entity" selections and "DBA names" (IRS-registered business name) when preparing the 1099 report. I know you can see this info within the 1099 report, but looking at one contact at a time is not efficient.
1 voteHi Nikki! Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We can see why this feature would be useful when you want to see what entity type the contact is.

Payroll AU - Add running totals to Transaction Listing Details Report
Can a total be added under the amount on this report.
If a total was available, I wouldn't need to export to excel simply to add a total before sharing the report.Ideally, the total would also apply to groups on the report, ie, total by employee and total for all employees.
1 voteThanks for letting us know you'd like the Transaction Listing Details Report to have a total per Employee and or Group when you filter the report by Group.
As you've found, the report will only show itemised values. One work around would be to export the report to Excel or Google sheets and add a summary total manually. We'd also suggest taking a look at the Transaction Listing Summary Report.

UK Tax - Overseas company accounts and corporation tax return
We deal with Overseas companies and subsidiaries, Xero does not have recognise Overseas company number usually starts with FC123456, Xero does no recognise this and create corporation tax return. This is another deficiency of Xero which makes me look at other software.

AU Tax – Detailed tax estimate page in PDF (income, deductions, offsets)
Add the estimates section when downloading a copy of the Tax Return, to a full breakdown of the assessable income & tax owed. Usually I use pg 4 on a downloaded copy of a TR, but it does include a values in that section. it would be best to have a detailed summary that fits in 1-2 pages.
1 voteHi Patrick, thanks for sharing this idea and for clearly outlining how a more detailed breakdown of assessable income, deductions, offsets, and tax owed in the downloaded Tax Return would fit into your workflow.

Xero Tax (AU) - Remove PP/NPP filtering for Asset, Liability, and Equity labels
When Importing from Xero to Xero Tax (AU), there is a filter button to filter only PP or NPP labels (or Both).
These are only relevant to Revenue and Expenses account types (and tax return labels).
When I click PP or NPP and then move onto Assets/Liabilities/Equity, no Tax Return Labels show up in the drop down (because Xero Tax filters them out).
Xero Tax SHOULD NOT filter out labels for Assets/Liabilities/Equity. There is no benefit and no efficiency for this behaviour. Xero Tax should return ALL labels for Assets/Liabilities/Equity whenever PP or NPP (or Both) is selected.

BAS - Make draft bill creation optional when lodging BAS
To have the option to remove the draft bill feature when lodging your BAS through Xero. At the moment, the system automatically creates the draft bill when lodging your BAS and we are manually going back and deleting the draft bills.

Reporting - Switch between detail/summary Aged Payables/Receivables report
Instead of having 2 separate reports for Aged Payables and Receivables, there should just be one report for each, and a drop down/toggle to switch between the detailed report and the summary report. Not the biggest deal, but would make things a lot more fluid and easier. Could be replicated across other reports too to simplify the process, and make the "reports" section much tidier and easier to navigate.

UK Tax - Importing Rental Income to Xero Tax
Following the introduction to MTD for ITSA, we will be reporting a number of clients rental income to HMRC using Xero, which we previously did not. As a result of MTD for ITSA we will be preparing more Tax Returns using Xero Tax.
It is currently not possible to import rental income & expenses, from a client's Xero account directly to Xero Tax (where as you can for sole trade businesses). Unfortunately these figures need to be typed in manually.
Would it be possible to add this feature into Xero Tax?
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea of importing rental income into the personal tax return.

It is worth noting that our MTD for IT functionality will include the option to include rental income/expenses and will utilise tracking categories to do this.

BAS - Include unfiled amounts when producing custom date reports for BAS audit purposes.
I currently can't export the quarterly activitiy statement due to too many transactions so produce monthly reports via custom date reports, however there is no option here to include unfiled amounts and therefore the reports are not matching the quarterly statement amount.
1 voteAppreciate your idea about BAS reporting, Michelle! It’s great to hear how including unfiled amounts in custom date reports could help with your audit workflow.

Journal Report - Reversal Filtering and Visibility Enhancements
I would like to request improvements to the Journal Report to make it more user-friendly for accountants and bookkeepers.
Currently, reversal journals and their original entries appear together, which makes the report difficult to read and slows down review during month-end and year-end close.
Please consider adding these enhancements:
1. Preferred enhancement: Reversal Filters
Please add filter options to control visibility of reversal-related journals:
• Show or hide original journals
• Show or hide reversal journals
• View only normal (non-reversal) journals
This would keep the full audit trail intact, but make the report much cleaner and easier to analyze.…2 votesHi Wilianti, thanks for taking the time to share this idea. Your notes on reversal filtering and visual indicators help clarify how these enhancements could support your workflow.
We’ve moved your post into Gaining Support, which opens it up for community votes and comments. It is now up to the community to show their interest, and this gives us a clearer picture of how many users might benefit from changes like these.

Invoice – Unique payment reference field for Reconciliation
Dear Xero,
Please!.. Ideally, accurate references on all source documents should be able to link them to their Payment transactions in Xero. However, it can be extremely difficult and time-consuming - especially with Spend/Receive Money transactions.
It would be incredibly helpful for a column of 'Link ID's' to be displayed on all detailed reports.
Doesn't need to be fancy, just a Unique ID.
This link ID would need to be automatically generated by Xero, and, have the ability to change dynamically in the case a payment is removed (as one of many examples).
It would help to see the account…
1 voteHi Callum, appreciate you highlighting how a unique payment reference field could support reconciliation workflows. Your suggestion about displaying Link IDs on detailed reports to track account movements is a valuable feedback.
This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage other members who would find this helpful to add their votes and share their experiences.
In the meantime, a practical workaround is to use the “Reference” field consistently. When creating invoices, include a unique reference code for the payment (for example, PAY-1001), and when receiving payments, enter the same reference in the “Reference” field. This ensures that the data will appear in the Reference column in both the Receivable Invoice report and the Account Transactions report when run for the relevant bank account, making it easier to track and reconcile payments.
We’ll update this thread when the…

Provide a report which shows all bank accounts listed alongside the latest reconciled month for each bank account to provide a quick overview of which bank accounts have not been reconciled.

Reporting - Manual Journal Report
Report that extracts manual journal entries (only) with user details - for audit purpose.
1 voteThanks for sharing this idea. We've reviewed this and now other users can add their votes and comments to support it.
For now, there's a way you can get a report on the manual journals, but without listing the user details.
To do this:
1) Run the Account Transactions Report for the relevant date range.
2) Click the Accounts dropdown and click Select All.
3) Use the Filter option to select Source = Manual Journal.
4) Click Update to generate the report.
Although this report won't list the users, you can click into journals to view their details, the History & Notes will show who entered it.

AU Tax - Pre-filling Children's Private Health Insurance
Why does Xero not pre-fill the Private Health Insurance information of someone who is on their family's PHI?
i.e. a young adult/teenager who is still on their parents health insurance. (Code F on the tax return).I am having to manually enter the information every time I create a return for one, which is frustrating given that the information is already on their ATO pre-fill report, and it prefills fine for their parents.
4 votesHi Emily! We really appreciate your feedback on this. At this moment, the information we pull is directly from the ATO exclusively for one sole return, and so won't automatically fill into the young adult/teenagers return as you've found.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!
