Fixed Assets - Ability to include additions to existing assets
Feature where users’ can include addition to existing assets.
Purpose: To save users’ time rather than having two create two different assets in Xero.

We have been asking for this for years. Here's a thought:
One area in Xero that continues to cause frustration is the Depreciation Schedule.
When preparing annual accounts for clients, we can customise most of the reports to make them clear and professional. The exception is the Depreciation Schedule. This report cannot be adjusted in the same way, which often means we have to use awkward workarounds that does not present as well as the rest of the accounts. If we were able to group assets within the depreciation schedule, we could then at least make it look slightly more in line with the rest of the report.
This has been raised by accountants and bookkeepers for years, but it always seems to fall to the bottom of the list. It may not be the most exciting feature request, but it is a really important one for those of us preparing client reports. Although not a final solution - we still need a better way to manage fixed assets - it will help towards making the annual reports look more professional.
Please allow the Depreciation Schedule to be customised in the same way as other reports in Xero.

This really needs to be added. It is hard to see the total investment in one property and I need to manually track which Xero assets belong to the same property.
Or at least add the function to group assets. -

The additional cost of the asset eg transport, solicitors fees to all be included with the cost of the asset rather than a separate asset for each item.
I was able to do this with my previous software program and it does look more professional!

This is Basic Accounting System functionality. Should/would be a really easy fix for XERO and it is extremely disappointing this idea has been left sitting in the ideas basket for so long. Come on XERO

Im an accountant and this is deeply frustrating, We have the initial cost then subsequently add upgrades 5-6 different lines for the one asset.....what a joke

The irritating thing is that as users, we always add these comments requesting addition of features, including basic features/functionalities one would expect from an Accounting system, but these comments just sit here for years and years. Eventually it feels pointless to add these comments/requests.

Just run into this myself today.
Cool, another piece of BASIC FUNCTIONALITY that gets to languish in 'Product Ideas' purgatory while we beg and plead with Xero to add BASIC FUNCTIONALITY.
Did I already mention that, for an asset register system, this is BASIC FUNCTIONALITY that is just straight-up missing from Xero??!?

I have a fixed asset with many partial payments. It would be good if the payments could be auto merged, rather than having to delete the created asset and update myself every time.

Having the ability to create Sub Assets is very important in keeping track of Assets. As previously noted, other additions can be missed when an asset is sold or scrapped due to being listed separately. Considering this request has been on going for many years, this should be a priority in adding this option to Xero.

This is very important as parts of assets can be missed when the asset is sold, it is hard to show they are all part of the same asset on the asset schedule. A grouping function would allow for different period/months of depreciation to be claimed. We would still need to see clearly on the schedule & when handling maintenance of the assets which assets make up the one asset.
