Profit & Loss - Ability to hide lines
On the P & L reports, there quite often extra lines at the bottom which aren't required this yr, but may be next year. which we don't need ie: Net loss/ profit before beneficiary dist , nor do we need before tax etc as a loss, just need the bottom line ( net Profit /Loss). Companies also have the same issue. Is there a way to "hide" these lines? if not , can we add this as a suggestion please. Don't want to delete, just hide or disable as necessary

Receivable Invoice Summary Report - Group by Contact group
We recently converted from Quickbooks Desktop and are trying to reproduce a "Sales by Customer" Report that sorts descending by gross invoice amount but groups the contacts within the contact group together. In Xero, I cannot figure out a way to accomplish this.

Reports - Ability to add Contact Account Numbers to Account Transaction Reports
I propose adding contact account numbers to account transaction reports in Xero. This enhancement will enable users to easily link and reconcile transactions with specific contacts, even when working with downloaded data in formats like Excel.
By incorporating contact account numbers in account transactions reports, users can streamline transaction reconciliation. This feature simplifies the process of cross-referencing transactions and contacts, particularly when utilising downloaded data outside of Xero.
For instance, users can streamline the process of running annual donation receipts by downloading the "Contacts" and "Account Transactions Report". By linking contact account number, contact names and addresses from the contacts…

GST Report - Select a specific entry to view from the report, back arrow should take you back to where you left the report
Currently when you are viewing the GST Audit Report , you can select an item to view in more detail. When you back arrow to return to the GST Audit Report, Xero takes you back to the first item on page 1, not at the position where you left the Audit Report . It would be beneficial to the user, and would save a lot of time scrolling, if Xero returned the user to the position where they left the report.

Reports - Accounts display in GL account number order on reports
The ability to have accounts display in GL account number order on reports. It boggles the mind that this is not an option already!
94 votesHi everyone, thanks for the engagement and support on this idea. We recognise that having the option to display accounts in GL account number order when editing a reports layout would reduce the need to manually adjust the order of accounts.
We've reviewed your feedback, including the specific issues with grouping, and are moving this idea to Accepted. This reflects that the idea has not been included in our current roadmap but that this is an idea that we will continue to monitor.

Reports - Customisable layout for PDF reports
Have the ability to create more than one report style (colour and logo) so when you export to a 'Styled PDF' there are choices beyond 'no styling' and your default.
22 votesHi team, we appreciate interest in being able to create more customised layouts when it comes to the styling of the PDF's of your reports.
Being upfront this isn't a feature we have immediate plans around but we'd like to keep tracking the interest from community around, through this idea.

Intrastat Declaration reporting
Hi All, As we are based in Northern Ireland we have a lot of clients that purchase from both sides of the boarder, and are required to submit intrastat declarations on a monthly basis, however unlike Sage, this information can not be stored in Xero and then exported to submit to HMRC.
It would make reporting this information so much easier.

Reports - Add "does not contain" filter
Currently the report's filters only available to filter thing that " contain " in the respective categories. Can you please also include the option "do not contain" - so that we could produce report to omit things that we would not wish to include. Thank you

Report for direct debits
I would suggest that Xero should provide direct debits from all your accounts in one report.
3 votesHi Komal, just to make sur we understand the idea here properly. When you say you'd like a report of all direct debits, is this where you've made a direct debit payment for bills? Or where you have customers that may be on direct debit payments with your business?

Audit Trail Report
We desperately need an audit trail report available for advisors.
I think it would be sufficient to have the below added to the account transactions report style (but named as Audit Trail):
1 - the ability to include an 'edited date' column
2 - the ability to include a 'notes' column
3 - a tick box to show/hide audit trail history (so voids would show as separate creation and void lines netting off, not just removal of the original transaction)
4 - a unique un-editable transaction identifier for all transactions, not just bills/invoicesIt must be exportable to excel with…
584 votesHey everyone, thanks so much for sharing all your ideas and detailed suggestions for a comprehensive Audit Trail Report.
Through some of the comments in this discussion we wanted to highlight the Journal Report that may help with visibility of detail some are after. We've taken on board your thoughts on how this could be enhanced, like including an 'edited date' column and improving the export to Excel, however this is not in the roadmap right now.
Being open, providing a complete audit trail of every single event and change within an organisation is not in our plans.
That said, it’d help to gather interest in specific items you'd like to see added within the history and notes and I've shared links to a few ideas that have already been started on the platform. We welcome you to add your vote, or start a new idea for those that'd be…

Reporting - Allow Memo Accounts for non-financial information
We would like to be able to capture non-financial (eg head count) and statistical numbers (eg Order Book) in Xero and add it into Xero reports alongside the existing financial information for management reporting
Currently it seems that accounts that are added automatically appear in the Chart Of Accounts.
Could another Account Type be created that allows memo accounts to be created outside the CoA?6 votes -
Aged receivables - Add tax columns
Reports - Aged Receivables: I would like to be able to include the VAT rate/VAT rate name as a column in the aged receivables detailed report to avoid manually checking each invoice in the list
1 voteNot possible with the aged reports, but perhaps the Receivable Invoice Detail report could be just as useful, Luke?
You'll find you can add the tax columns you're after, and there's lots of flexibility to set this report up in the way you need to only view certain transactions (such as those awaiting payment)

Report - Produce Dividend vouchers in Xero
Dear All,
i have the following suggestion. I think it would make sense to allow the production of a Dividend Voucher in Xero also by in-house accountants, rather than only by an accounting firm that is a Xero partner.
Many thanks and kind regards, Andrea
18 votesThanks so much for sharing your suggestion. ✨
At the moment there aren’t any confirmed plans to bring that specific Dividend Voucher experience into blue Xero. That said, feedback like yours is really valuable for our product teams, so I’ve passed this on as a feature request to help them understand the demand from in‑house company accountants who aren’t connected to a Xero partner.

Profit and Loss - Option to show opening and closing stock
Ability to show opening stock & closing stock closing amounts in the P&L on a monthly, quarterly etc basis.
A function to allow to pick a Balance Sheet code or P&L code for stock and specify what balance to report in the P&L or trading account. ie. when running May 2023 monthly reports, the ability to specify that the opening stock is the stock on hand balance at 30 April 2023 and the closing stock is the stock on hand balance at 31 May 2023.

Reporting - Ability to create own report code structure
what about the possibility of practices creating their own report code structure? with infinite report codes capable of being added? to accommodate flexible reporting structures?
It is truly difficult to automate reporting where a practice does not control the chart structure. this is because clients often create new chart codes because their particular expense doesnt neatly fit the chart options available...so a new expense/revenue/etc account is added and then the report pack grows in size (with similar account types that really should be grouped for reporting) to the point where it is unusable...unless the practice manually maps into a "group"…
205 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. It’s great to see so much engagement on this idea, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
We understand you’re looking for the ability to create your own report code structures within Xero that'd allow for more detailed and flexible reporting, helping to automate processes and provide clearer insights for your clients.
As noted by others in the idea, you can currently leverage the existing report code mapping functionality. While it doesn't allow for entirely new report codes, you can map multiple chart of account codes to the same report codes to group them for reporting.
To do this in bulk, you can also export your chart of accounts, apply the mapping in a CSV, and then re-import it.
We see the value in providing more customisation in reporting. Right now we have some more codes…

Xero Tax - Reporting name vs Account name
Currently Xero pulls data from the connected ledger into Xero tax – it’s great! But its pulls the account name, when we’re often only changing the reporting name so as not to mess with a clients system.
Would be beneficial if Xero tax pulled the reporting name rather than the account name through for linked accounts. Would make things more consistent between financials & tax return.11 votes -
Report Templates - Ability to add any report
I would like to be able to add any available report into a practice Report Pack. At the moment, the available reports are limited to those within the Financial Statement realm.
I would like to produce a report pack that had all the reports i need for my annual working papers:
- Employee wage summary
- Bank Rec
- Tax depreciation report
- GST rec reportsetc etc.
300 votesHi team, following on from my last update though our position remains that we don't have plans for making all reports available in report templates we wanted to share a recent change we have made.
We have unlocked the ability to add client-specific custom reports to Adviser packs, giving you additional flexibility and more comprehensive reporting, which we know has been a key request for some in the idea here.
As mentioned in our last post - we're very keen to continue to understand the interest in specific reports, so if not already please make sure to add your support or start an idea for a the report you'd like to see. Thanks

Trial Balance - Run in Foreign Currency
Do you have the currency option on Trial Balance as you do the profit and Loss and Balance Sheet?
16 votesCurrently, you can include an Exchange rate note in the Trial Balance report, however it's not possible to run this report in another currency.
We don't have any plans for extending the reports that can be run in a foreign currency atm, but it'll be good to get an idea of the interest for this here and we can share if there is any change.
