  1. Would like to be able to have a column to show where the money was spent (bank statement info) as we find if clients choose a generic name in the Description, eg "Travel" when you are trying to review their coding, you have to click into each transaction to see where the money was spent.

  3. When presenting the Profit & Loss in a different currency from the file currency the exchange rate is as the last date of the Profit & Loss Statement (P&L). While this is appropriate for the Balance Sheet it is not so for the P&L. I would like to be able to extract a P&L report knowing the figures are based on an average exchange rate for the period as opposed to a single date rate.

    In the way Xero works at present the exchange rate is based on the end date of a report or the set exchange rate that was used.

    It's now up to the community to get behind and support your idea here. Make sure you share this with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

  4. It is crucial to be able to print or email statements to multiple or all contacts with received money transactions at once showing each received money transaction for the contact in a time period on individual/separate pages by contact. This is really needed functionality because any nonprofit entity needs to send giving/donation statements at year end. I have tried multiple reports and statements. I can create an Account Transactions report showing all the clients and the received money entries, but it doesn't allow me to separate contact on their own page.   6. We need to be able to select "All Dates" on a report. ex. I want to see a report for a certain account from the start of my business to the current date. now I need to select beginning date and then todays date and the update.

    For anyone looking to achieve this now, you can view transactions across all time by selecting a custom date range in your reports. By setting the start date to your organisation's first transaction date and the end date to today, you can get a full historical view of your data.

    We see the value in your suggestion to add a preset 'All Time' or 'All Dates' option, which would make this process a faster, one-click action.

    currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.

    I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by

    1. showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
    2. OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
    3. TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
    4. MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…

    Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.

    We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.

    Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

    1. Tax custom cover letter should have salutation option for the client. Without salutation it looks unprofessional or harsh.
    2. Trust tax cover letter is addressing to the trustee. If the trustee is a company, there should be an option to address the director of the trustee.

  10. Is there a plan in place to update the Edit Report layout to be more user friendly!
    In particular, it is clunky inserting tables and being able to edit like a simple word doc (bold, italic, line spacing etc.)
    Also being able to print off the reports in the 'edit' mode so you can see the expanded breakdown of the accordian would be very helpful to ensure that Notes match Statements of Financial Performance and Position (especially useful for our juniors who often can't work out where their subcodes are if there have been reporting changes)

    Hi! Thank you for sharing your idea here. This is an existing feature in Xero. When editing the report layout, you can use the PDF option on the top menu bar to generate a preview of the report. If you require further elaboration or are unable to find this option, please raise a case with our support team for personalised assistance. With regards to the remaining portion of making the user interface better, we have moved this idea to gaining support to gain more support from users who would like this feature implemented.

  11. Instead of having 2 separate reports for Aged Payables and Receivables, there should just be one report for each, and a drop down/toggle to switch between the detailed report and the summary report. Not the biggest deal, but would make things a lot more fluid and easier. Could be replicated across other reports too to simplify the process, and make the "reports" section much tidier and easier to navigate.

  12. I would like to request improvements to the Journal Report to make it more user-friendly for accountants and bookkeepers.
    Currently, reversal journals and their original entries appear together, which makes the report difficult to read and slows down review during month-end and year-end close.
    Please consider adding these enhancements:
    1. Preferred enhancement: Reversal Filters
    Please add filter options to control visibility of reversal-related journals:
    • Show or hide original journals
    • Show or hide reversal journals
    • View only normal (non-reversal) journals
    This would keep the full audit trail intact, but make the report much cleaner and easier to analyze.…

  13. The ability to create multiple custom budget reports which show budgets and transactions which can easily be emailed out to colleagues at the same time. This is useful if a Xero user has multiple budget holders to report to. This should be able to be emailed as both PDF and Excel.

  14. Provide reports (for both draft pay runs and posted pay runs) in a matrix format like other Xero reports, rather than listed under each employee. The current format makes it impossible to carry out checks or to create further reports for management.

    Given the latest update that improving payroll reports is not a priority for Xero, we are very close to leaving Xero and moving to another payroll provider for the next financial year, as all other softwares we have used during our careers have provided far more useful reporting than what Xero offers.

Can the transition period for change in financial year date be added to companies that are non UK organisations as well. we have a group of companies that all extended their financial year but i have only been able to use the transition period in UK organisations. Why is this not an option in non UK organisations?

    Hi Claire, thanks for raising this. We appreciate you sharing the want of having the transition period feature across all the regions while it is only currently available for UK organisations. Your idea is now in Gaining support status, meaning our community team have reviewed it and it's open for community support through votes and comments.   16. Trial Balance new report: Be able to run a report by tracking category. At the moment there is only an option to filter but if you have many tracking units you end up running a multiple reports and need to combine them all. Really time consuming.

    My proposal attached - with such report you could do any analysis you want!
    Option to run it by month "compare with" option a dream!

    We've been generating individual e-invoice from Xero/Invoici for months, however, we could not find any report on e-invoice generated through Xero/Invoici.

    This report could help us in ensuring accuracy of the data exported to MyInvois portal. We would require a specific report on the generated individual e-invoices to make sure that they tally with the sales invoices report from Xero.

    Hi Brenda, just to confirm is it within the graph that you're wanting to increase the # of top customers?

    Currently, if you run the Income by Contact report with Chart & table the chart will only show the top 10 but the table will give you an ordered list for all contacts that you received income from in the period.

  19. I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND A PRODUCT UPDATE ON THE PROFIT & LOSS REPORT.

    THE REPORTS 'Net Profit' ON ALL REPORTS, EVEN IF SOME PERIODS HAVE A LOSS. CAN IT INCLUDE 'Net Profit/(Loss)' AS PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE NOT IN THE ACCOUNTING FIELD TO KNOW THAT BRACKETS MEANS A LOSS, MAY INTERPRET (LOSS) AS A PROFIT

    Hi Ntando, it'll be good to gauge interest from others in the community that'd like this terminology to be used as a default on the Profit & Loss report.

    Want to be open this isn't anything we have any plans for atm with the customisation that's available.

    As you may already be across, currently you can edit the heading of the row through the Edit layout, and then Save as Custom where you have the option to make the report the default for the organisation.
