  1. Profit & Loss report: Show account names on 1 line.

    The new report has account names over 2 lines, so makes the report extra long, and not very easy to view on the screen. Analysis becomes less efficient.
    Prefer the old version report "look". We were able to see the business at a glance on fewer pages!

    Also, the extraction to excel now has merged cells. Have to unmerge and manipulate before using the report. Again less efficient.

  3. In Xero HQ when we create a New Template for Reports and add reports according to our preference, We are unable to add reports like Top Suppliers and Top customers report in Xero HQ but those reports are available in individual client's organizations.

    It would be great if we can add these reports in Xero HQ so it would be easy to generate month end reports from Xero HQ for all the clients.

  4. Now that we can add equations, I'd like to see Xero add non-financial data for use in calculations. Specifically, I'd like to add a number that changes each month (number of clients). This will allow me to calculate the revenue per client. I would also like to add the number of clients lost and clients gained so I can calculate the churn rate and customer lifetime value (important to use in making decisions on marketing spend).

  5. Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. It would be great for the user to have the ability to choose whether to include/exclude.
    This is particularly relevant when reporting is exported to Excel for customised reports that cannot be developed within Xero. The exported data out of Xero needs to have same column headings so that lookups in Excel continue to work.
    The recent change has meant that reports we have already developed within Excel that rely on Xero data no-longer work. And is time consuming to add back in columns…

    Appreciate the feedback, Julie. This has generally been to help keep the report clean.

    There aren't any direct plans for adding non used categories back into view but it'd be good to be able to share if there are any specific reports you're commonly using that you'd find this view useful in.

  6. "Compare Tracking Category" in the Old Format P&L Report includes columns for all Tracking Category Values USED in the date range; irrespective of whether the value is ACTIVE or ARCHIVED.

    "Compare Tracking Category" in the New Format P&L Report is different: it includes columns for ACTIVE Tracking Category Values. This represents an incomplete view because ARCHIVED Tracking Category Values USED in the date range are not included.

    Please can you enable reporting of USED Tracking Category Values in the New Format P&L Report before you remove Old Format Reports in July 2023.

  7. I have successfully managed to create a custom report.

    I now want to add on rows which give me the opening and closing balance each month to get a 12 month cashflow. Is there a way I can do this from the statement of cash flows (using the cash and cash equivalents at beginning and end of period)

    When I try to add rows to my custom report it doesn't seem to offer to add, but only to group item is this something that could be considered.

  8. The existing 'Statement of Cash Flows' could be enhanced to be the bridge between the P&L and the balance sheet.
    1. Term debt and cash are netted to give the movement in cash equivalents. If the statement differentiated between 'term' funding (in our case, reduction of term debt) and the 'cash at bank' balance it would better describe cash flows.

    1. Make repayment of loans a 'financing' activity. Currently it is wrapped in 'cash equivalent'.

    2. The flows in Operating Activities would be more meaningful if it highlighted where to see changes. For example, working capital changes in the period under review…

  9. I am having some difficulty with "Blank Reports". I designed a small divisional report which included only a small percentage of my P&L accounts. I tried to select a date range which is offered but doesn't work - the only date range that works is the current financial year. If you want to look at last month, last quarter etc - no luck.

    When I brought this to the attention of Xero, their response was that feature isn't available - then why is it a report option. Their suggestion was to modify the P&L format which has date options that…

  10. It would be so helpful to have a YTD column in the account transactions report. I run this report monthly for certain sales accounts to give to our marketing department and need the monthly amount and also the year to date amount however this report only allows me to show the period selected. This means I have to run 2 reports, one showing the monthly account transaction total and then one showing the year to date account transaction totals which I then combine in excel. Would also be good if there was a comparison to budget column.

  11. I would like to send departmental P&L/spend reports to my managers. For eg, send all marketing spend to that team showing the act v bud figures AND all the transactions making up the actual fig
    I reckon it would be best to add the Act and Bud figs at the top of the account transactions report for a particular chart of accounts

  12. It would be great if Analytics Plus had the option to exclude individual bills.

    For example, our business pays our BAS and PAYG from a sub account.
    We are unable to exclude this from the projection.

  14. In the Inventory Item Summary report I can customise the report by adding a filter & then searching for a stock item eg a spigot - but there are 100 different types of spigots, & each of them need to be selected individually!!! can we please have a "select all" button???

  15. With the old reports you were able to run the report and then click into one of the GL codes to look at the data. There was then a link "back to P&L / Balance sheet report" which took you back. This is missing in the new report which is very time consuming as it seems you have to start again with running and customising your report.

  16. XERO: Reporting Operating Vs. G&A Expenses in Income Statement Report
    In the current income statement report, there is no way to split single account between operating and G&A expenses as XERO does not allow tracking on rows. This will result in finalizing reports through excel sheets or the need to duplicate accounts in COA to enable report expenses separately by nature.

  18. The Profit and loss report: Compare tracking are amazing, but still needs the following:
    1 - To be able to edit the heading/remove the dates from the heading (as this is all reading showing on the top of the report, and can be very cluttering if every heading is starting with 1 June - 7 June 2022 ....)
    2 - in the old P&L: compare reports, the columns/tracking that was not applicable "disappeared", with the new reports, I'm seeing ALL my tracking that is available, and not only the ones applicable, please do the same for the new reports

    HI community, thanks for your support here. While this isn't something we have plans for extending comparatives beyond 36 periods atm, it'd be good to get more detail on the ideal # of comparatives you'd be looking to run the report for, and what this would help your business do - Please do comment to share your views. 

    Other options you'll see you have with the new report, is that you can change the comparative period between Day, Month, Quarter or Year.
