  1. The print date that now appears at the bottom of reports is useful for some reports and circumstances, and I understand this date is now turned off for Published Reports.

    However we do not 'publish' our financial statements - we send our financial statements to clients in a practical and informative pack instead. This is a more efficient, professional and streamlined approach for us.

    Hi team, while this may be something we look to do in the future unfortunately we were not able to move along with the work the team had started exploring here.

  2. Please show the VAT number on the VAT page. At the moment either need to go via the Financial settings or drill into a VAT return to see the VAT registration number. Would be good if quickly visible on the VAT page

  3. In my custom income statement, I'd like to create a calculation for a debt service coverage ratio. However, I don't there's a way to set a P&I payment as "per month" in the custom features. Is there a feature to set a formula that adjusts my debt service based on the number of months the income statement covers? (E.g. monthly P&I is $5,000 per month. So a 6-month year-to-date statement would adjust P&I to be $30,000 on my printed report).

  4. When comparing the Profit & Loss by projects, it would be very helpful to have an option such as “Hide zero balance projects” after selecting all projects. Currently, when we select all projects (we have more than 100), the report also shows those with zero balances (no transactions). This makes the report slower to display and download, and we have to manually remove those projects afterwards. Would it be possible to add such a feature to improve efficiency and reporting usability?

  5. Reports eg Transaction reports, should be able to be summarised by tracking category. Currently if a bank transaction is spread across a number of tracking categories, the transaction report will report this as 'multiple categories'. This is very unhelpful.

    Appreciate what you're asking here, Simon. However when grouped or summarised by tracking and a bank transaction has multiple lines that are coded to different categories its not possible to show these all on the report.

    On the flip side of this, if you run the report on a Grouped by basis you'll be able to see the transactions related to the multiple categories and can drill into the transaction to view the detail.

    Alternatively, adding a Related account column to the report you'll be able to see the account the transaction is coded to. Then, running the report for the related accounts e.g Sales would give you the line by line breakdown so you can view each tracking option the transaction has been allocated to.

  6. Not a new product idea by any means, just a request to put the GST return back the way it was before the update. So far with the new update, we can no longer see the late claims on a separate tab, we cannot publish the final return in Xero and now we can not be in two different entities at once even if we are incognito mode or in a different web browser.
    When querying Xero about this problem, it was suggested that I post it as a product idea, because they are all known issues but can't do…

  7. Business snapshot - link to default custom Profit & Loss Report

    We use a custom Profit & Loss Report which is default.
    Unfortunately the Business snapshot links to the standard xero Profit & Loss Report not the custom default Profit & Loss report.
    Can the Business snapshot be changed to link to the custom default reports?

  8. We would like to automatically transfer daily sales data (excluding GST) from Xero into our custom system. However, the current sales reporting options in Xero do not allow us to select a “Today” filter.

    At present, we have to manually set the date each day to get the daily sales amount, which makes automation difficult and time-consuming.

    Idea / Request:
    Please add a “Today” filter option (similar to existing options like “This Month” or “Last Month”) so that businesses can easily pull daily sales data without manual date entry.

    Hi Bethany, thanks for sharing this suggestion for improving our reports.

    We've reviewed your idea for an option to have Year-to-Date reports automatically generate columns for each month, which then total to the YTD figure. We can see how this dynamic layout would make monthly analysis much clearer and save time on report setup.

    Your suggestion is now ready to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share how a report that automatically adds monthly columns as the year progresses would improve their own financial analysis.

  10. Customise comparison dates

    When running a P&L or any other report with comparison data, it would be handy to be able to customise the date range of the comparison data. Some reports have an option of custom date range, but it's greyed out.

    We understand that customising comparison dates in the Profit & Loss report would give you more control over how you view and analyse business performance, especially when you're working with non-standard reporting periods.

    Currently in Xero, if you run the P&L for a custom date range (e.g. 1 Jan 2025 to 27 Jan 2025), you can compare that period with the previous:

    • Year – shows 1 Jan 2024 to 27 Jan 2024
    • Quarter – shows 1 Oct 2024 to 27 Oct 2024
    • Custom – automatically sets the comparison period to the same length (in this case, 27 days) immediately before your selected range, so it would show 5 Dec 2024 to 31 Dec 2024

  11. Looking for deleting wrongly created General Pool, which were created during the conversion of file to Xero Blue. Currently we can record an end date to the pool, but it doesn't stop the previous pools to stop appearing on the 'Run Depreciation' screen. No balances recorded, no movement at all.

  12. Where you have multiple legal entities that are able to lodge a consolidated BAS/GST return for the Group, having an ability to lodge the one return from Xero, without having to manually consolidate the various legal entities data outside of Xero via excel or some other means.

  13. I would LOVE to be able to produce tracking reports where I can select ALL items within CATERGORY A, but then display them in columns by CATEGORY B.
    Eg. I use Department and Job.
    I would like to see all Jobs for a particular Department in a P&L.
    Is this something that may be possible in the future or would behelpful to others?

    As you're possibly aware, Xero doesn't currently have specific features for Nepalese businesses, so for now we'd suggest using the Global edition.

  15. At the moment Zero Rated GST can only be applied to Revenue items on the Chart of Accounts. When we deal with a property sale between GST registsred parties, the sale is also zero rated for GST purposes. We need the option to apply the 0% GST rate to asset codes as well as revenue codes. At the moment, we have to do a manual workaround.

  16. We have 3 Belgian customers who are unable to used Xero as there is no connection with Belgium tax authorities, comparable with the HMRC in the UK for MTD VAT returns. If Xero truly want to be a global accounting solution, with Group structures having multiple geographical entities, they need to provide more global support/interaction to avoid clients moving away to alternative solutions.

    We understand that a single report for all invoices and receive money transactions, including key details like Quantity and Unit Price, would be a big help 🤔. We know it can be time-consuming to switch between different reports to get a full view of a contact’s activity. While this specific report isn't on our immediate development roadmap, we're always looking to improve Xero's reporting. For now, you can use the Contact Transactions Summary report for a quick overview or combine exported data from multiple reports into a spreadsheet. We'll keep monitoring this idea and use your votes and comments to help prioritise our future work.

  18. Currently, when generating management reports in Xero, users have the ability to compare data across prior months and multiple periods. Some reports, like the Cash Summary, also include an “Average” option, which is a helpful feature for identifying trends.

    It would be highly beneficial to extend this “Average” functionality to all relevant reports—particularly the Profit & Loss report—to provide more consistent and insightful analysis.

    Consideration would need to be given to how this behaves before and after a report date or date range is set, incase running for an older period that would include transaction lines that were categorised to an archived tracking option.

    Being upfront, this isn't something we have any plans around for the time being, but we'll source interest from the community in this here, and share if there are any updates.
