Bills - Remove the 'Skip' or 'Allocate Credit' prompts
Remove the 'Skip' or 'Allocate Credit' pop up box when entering invoices.
When entering a number of invoices, if the customer who you are entering an invoice for has a credit on their account, a box appears asking to 'allocate the credit' or 'skip.' By clicking either it takes you back to the enter invoice screen without the option of adding another invoice. This makes it quite time consuming when entering a number of invoices. Is there a way from stopping the 'allocate credit' or 'skip' boxes appearing?

Inventory - Option to automatically update Purchase Price from bills
Ability to have an option to automatically update purchase price on the item when users buy the same new items.
Purpose: To save time from having to manually update each item price when there’s a different price on the same new items.
195 votesThanks for your comments and emphasis on the bills side of things for the idea here. I've made sure this is shared with our team in this space.
Bills is an area we're continuing to develop with building on beautiful and I'll be sure to let you know here if there's any consideration made to change behaviour of this through the bills add and edit flow.

Subscription Invoices - attach as pdf
We receive an email each month with a link to the invoice, which we can then print to a pdf to download & attach to another email to send to Hubdoc or Xero Bills.
Many businesses have a 'do not click links' policy.
Please attach the pdf invoice to the original email to save all your users those extra clicks.101 votes -
Billable Expenses - Show Bills that have and haven't been assigned as billable expenses
To have a list that shows bills that have and haven’t been assigned to billable expenses.
Purpose: Users can easily identify which bills that have and haven’t been assigned to billable expenses.
173 votesHi everyone, thanks for your contributions to this idea. We appreciate your feedback about the challenges in ensuring all billable costs are recovered, and your desire for an improved experience.
As noted by others in the idea, there are some features that will give some visibility of billable expenses at present.
- You can 'View bills not assigned to projects', and
- there is the Outstanding billable expense report as some have shared which shows outstanding items you've assigned as billable to customers
Understanding the value more visibility of unassigned bills would have for customers, this is something we’ll continue to review in future planning but isn’t in the current roadmap. We'll be sure to update you all if this gets picked up.

Bills - Add total bill and total GST column amount
bills summary screen - Add Total Bill Amount and Total GST to the Column Chooser and make the settings persist accross all Bills Tabs for the speciofied User and Organisation.
6 votesThanks for the engagement on this idea, team. You may have noticed over the past year we have made some updates to the Bills list screen that allows you to choose which columns to view, as well as introducing quick view which should make it a bit easier to see the tax and amounts you're after without needing to navigate away from the list.
Just to confirm while you can add Total, as column there is no tax amount column right now, and this isn't something we have planned atm however we'll continue to watch the appetite here.

Xero: Support for SAF-T and SIE files
SIE files and SAF-T files are international standards for electronic exchange of accounting data and should, as soon as possible, be included in Xero as a digital application.
More information about SAF-T (Standard Audit File - Tax Financial):

Bills & Invoices - Change Bills to Supplier Invoices and Invoices to Sales Invoices
I have been following a number of ideas, and it is apparent that some confusion often occurs when using the terminology 'Bills' and 'Invoices'.
Could we have the option within Xero for bills to be referred to as 'Supplier Invoices' or 'Purchase Invoices', and invoices referred to as 'Customer Invoices' or 'Sales Invoices' to avoid this confusion, as they are in every other accounts package I have used?

Bills | Export summary
Ability to export bills with one line per bill showing the Invoice Total rather than showing each line entered for each bill.
11 votesHi Jenny and Michelle, you can run and export the Payable Invoice Summary report to get this information.
If this isn't suitable, could you explain bit more of what you'd like to use this information for? It may help in trying to find a solution that'll work for you both. Thanks

Credit Notes - Ability to add a Due Date
Is it possible to put a due date in the Credit Note so that it will show up when we filter the due dates in the Bills to Pay- Awaiting Payment section?

Email to Bills - Ability to email CSV files as well as PDF
Presently, to create a draft bill in Xero from a bill that has been received in the csv format, the csv bill has to be imported manually. It would be easier to be able to email the csv bill to the unique bills email address and have a draft bill created in Xero.
5 votesHi team, as noted in my last update we have introduced a new feature to upload bills to your organisation - However to confirm this only supports JPG, PNG, or PDF file types.
Currently email to bills supports quite a few different file types however as noted here CSV is not one of them. We want to be upfront that at this point we don't have any plans for extending this feature to support CSV formatted files.

Bills - Information from GST report added automatically to bills
When generating an Activity Statement for the GST wouldn't it be great if the information is automatically added to the Bills you need to pay?
This way a person won't forget to pay their GST payment and can even easily include a default date that it has to be paid by

Create supplier prepayment from bill
Suggest being able to turn a bill to pay directly into a prepayment or better yet a part prepayment.
The Bills to Pay function doesn't work well (at all?) for prepayments - if a draft bill is received there is no workflow to set it as a prepayment recognised by Xero (although you can set the account to debit as a prepayment). Suggest adding "Record as prepayment" to the bill options drop down.
Even better would be the functionality to record the bill as a part prepayment, many of our bills are for annual service delivery, therefore the bill will…
13 votesHi Matthew and Anthony, appreciate perhaps not as streamlined as you'd like here there is the ability to apply a prepayment to a bill.
In Xero, you would enter the bill to recognise the expense, payment itself would generally be recognised through the bank account when reconciling which is where you can create a prepayment and then apply the credit to the bill.
Alternatively, if you'd like to do this from the bills screen, you could use the create icon (+) in the top blue navigation and select Spend Money when redirected you'll want to switch the 'Spent as' to Prepayment from Direct Payment.

Bills to Pay UI - Visual Hierarchy
Bills to Pay UI - Visual Hierarchy
the new update of the 'bills to pay' screen is great and has some very useful new QOL features but i think the current layout is quite difficult to read and should contain a similar visual hierarchy that the old style had.
i have found myself focusing intently and trying to figure out where i am up to which could easily be fixed by a graphic designer adjusting fonts, weighting and alignment.
9 votesHi community, thanks for sharing your feedback in the idea here. Since first raised, we have made some improvement to the Bills to pay page including the ability to quick view and edit bills on the fly from the list, a duplicates review feature and the ability to directly upload to create draft bills in your organisation.
Taking some of the more recent development into play it'd be good to hear if there are still particular aspects of this page that you feel could be improved.

Bills - Option to show lines as Tax Inclusive
When entering bills as "Tax Inclusive" line items, Xero automatically changes it to "Tax exclusive" line items.
When trying to edit the bill to show tax inclusive line items, it again auto reverts to tax exclusive per line item.
I am requesting Xero to allow for having a choice between Tax Inclusive Bill line items, as well as Tax Exclusive. Why? This is because it is easier to reconcile due to the payment being tax inclusive.60 votesHi team, thanks for all the feedback on this request. We understand how helpful it'd be to view a bill as Tax Inclusive if that’s how it was originally entered, especially when reviewing bills in your organisation.
We’re currently modernising the Bill Edit and View pages, and this'll be addressed in the new experience. Once a bill is saved or approved, it'll display in the same format it was created in.
Some of you may have already noticed that this has been implemented in the bill quick view (the eye icon in list view).
I’ll update this thread again once the change is released on the individual bill pages as well. 🙂

Bills to pay - Transaction type for Buyer-created tax invoices (RCTI)

Invoices/Bills - Don't update contact address for existing invoices
Currently, if you change the address of a contact, old invoices and bills will show the new address and not the old address.
It would it be good if the old documents can keep the old address. It is because having the old address is a piece of evidence to show where the goods have been delivered to. It is important to show that to the tax authority and auditors where the goods are delivered to determine the GST/VAT type, etc.
pls look into this. thank you.
94 votesThanks for continuing to raise the importance of this idea with us here.
We appreciate why invoices and bills need to reflect the address details that were true at the time the document was created, and recognise the importance of this for record-keeping and audit purposes.
As part of the work we’re progressing for multiple addresses per contact, we want to highlight that preserving historical invoice details within Sales invoices is something we’ll be solving.
With multiple product teams working across different features we want to be upfront that work is not currently roadmapped for the Bills side, however we’ll keep this top of mind as that area of product continues to be developed.
I’ll be back to share further updates as this progresses.

Email to bills - Ability to add note that's included in History & Notes of the bill
We generally forward incoming bills for payment to Xero by emailing the bill to bills.b3xxxxxxxxxxxx@xerofiles.com) resulting in them getting queued in 'Draft' - which of course is a beautiful feature. At that point our finance manager will go through and process them to the point of Awaiting Payment (i.e. check them, allocate as appropriate, etc.).
On occasion there is additional information people in the business may wish to communicate to the finance manager about this (e.g. where it should be allocated to, or other descriptive information/special instructions).
Presently this requires a separate email to be sent to the finance…12 votes -
