Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.

We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

I'm stoked the devs have decided to work on this!

I also agree with the others. Having to manually allocate credit notes before preparing a batch payment to a bunch of suppliers or reconciling a bulk payment from a customer is time-consuming and slows down what is otherwise a relatively quick and streamlined workflow.

The manual step can also be prone to human error, especially when a customer or supplier has lots of credit notes to be allocated.

For this reason, we dread working with clients whose business model means they have lots of credit notes to deal with.

I cannot stress enough how much we need new bank accounts or changes to existing bank accounts to require approval. ie.

Step 1: Accounts payable staff member adds a new contact for a supplier and enters the bank account details.

Step 2: Another user with the appropriate permissions, such as a manager, gets notified to approve the new/changed bank account

The new/changed bank account should need to be approved before the contact can be added to any payment batch.

Hi everyone, we've just released a change so if you're a part of a Xero practice you'll now see we've added a new ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, that displays the report code and report code name. This should help save you time, and easily review report codes before running report templates.

Being able to set the report code at the time a new account is created would save a bunch of time at year end.

I agree 100%. I was flabbergasted to learn that not all of the reports available at a client level can be added to a report pack template at the practice level. At present, the only workaround is to create a report pack for each client at the client level. That takes up waaaaaaayyyyy too much time and is a nightmare for ensuring quality control.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been shared with, and considered by, our product team - so they have an understanding of the work that would be required for this.

We'd like to confirm that, at this stage, the automatic generation and sending of reports is not something we have plans to develop in the near term. We are still interested to get a clearer understanding of demand for this feature, and we'll continue to track this through the conversation and votes on this idea. If there's any change we will let you know!

I’ve seen that too Neil. Sadly schedule in that article basically means a table or list (eg. Schedule of fixed assets and depreciation, schedule of shareholders, etc) rather than a timeline of when reports will be generated.

It’s about time Xero added this feature!

Hello everyone, appreciate all your feedback here. To be upfront, we don’t have any plans to develop the ability to reconcile clearing, control and non-bank accounts in the near future.

Some of the technology improvements going on across Xero will create more opportunities for us to explore extending some of the more complex functionality from one part of Xero to another. However, we are some way off from this yet.

That being said, there is the Account transaction report that could be handy in providing a view of both sides of a transaction in Xero. You can include the related account as a column in the report - See more in our help article on this.

Alternatively, if you’re using an external system, you could look into the Xero App store

Appreciate there are also lots of ways others are using Xero’s to fit their needs - If you…
