Hi community, we understand your needs in this feature and want to assure you were taking on board all your feedback.
As many of you accustom to this idea will know, multiple addresses requires a complex solution. It's been something we’ve been moving towards for some time and we’ve done a lot of back end work that will allow us to bring it to you in the future.
We have 12 different products within Xero that rely on contact data, as well as many of our app partners. This means that contacts need to seamlessly flow across technology, products and all connections on Xero. And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on.
One of the reasons we announced the retirement of classic invoicing is because many of the features being asked for, just can’t be brought into classic invoicing. The old technology has too many technology limitations to enable this.…

That then requires custom reports and statements.

Hi everyone, thanks for voting and sharing your feedback here.
From the Contacts page you can already click the quick link to the official ABN lookup page to verify a number yourself. Our product team have reviewed the commentary here and appreciate that the ability to do this from within Xero would enhance the process, however at this stage there are no firm plans or timelines surrounding this. As always we'll be sure to return here if there's more news to share 📢

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

We appreciate wanting to see more rapid movement, everyone. Having done a lot of exploration into this area our team have a good handle on the needs to solve this, however we want to be honest that development will be some time away with the team currently focused on improving bills list views and updating add/edit bill pages. For the time being to keep you up to date we're going to move this idea back to Submitted until more active work takes place for this.
I can assure you this idea is the best place to be leaving feedback for this feature, and Xero Product Ideas as a whole is the best place to be sharing where you'd like to see change across Xero products. As a community team we're advocating on your behalf constantly to see where ideas can be worked on, and this site is where our product…
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commented@Lynn the workaround I've been using is to add the reason why it's in dispute to the bill reference, because that shows up when I'm reviewing a batch payment. Doesn't help if the bill reference is really long, but it's helped save me a few times :-)
(example from a couple of weeks ago: " - query ANZAC Day" because the bill showed a contractor as working on a public holiday, which was outside the scope of the contract)

Hi community, sometime on since my last post we wanted to provide an update for your all here and appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving.
We want to be upfront that at this time focuses for the team are in other areas of bank reconciliation and we don't have any current plans for developing the ability to import and export bank rules from an organisation.
We understand and know this is important to everyone that has voted for the idea and will continue to review and pay close attention to the feedback and votes here. When there is more opportunity for the team to refocus efforts here we will keep you informed of any progress.

Hi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.
As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.
The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward.
Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedMy clients do use credit notes and a retentions receivable asset account or other similar workarounds. Unfortunately, this means creating a separate retentions receivable account for each of their customers and given that there's multiple projects and contracts for each of those customers and the retentions receivable can only be reconciled with the customer's statement on a per-project basis, it's still something that needs my clients to maintain a manual spreadsheet OR create a separate receivables account for each project (which gets very unwieldy very quickly).

An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedI can see that a particular (now ex-)user made changes to transactions, but I cannot see when their access was removed, nor can I see what email address they were using to log in - this means that I can't differentiate easily between work done by users with similar, generic names.

An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedClarification: you're asking for the ability to tax commissions paid every pay period using the regular tax table instead of table 5. They still need to be reported as commissions under STP2, so they can't be reported as an ordinary hours pay item.
That is: if an employee is paid their regular pay monthly, and received commissions relating only to that month, then it is currently being taxed as if they were being paid their regular pay weekly with commissions paid monthly, which is not as per ATO guidelines and therefore can potentially lead to withholding the incorrect amount of tax.

I've had to create separate contacts for each Defence contract manager, because of this. There's a lot of them. Each invoice has to be CC'd to the correct contact when you send it to Defence accounts, and I'm not willing to bet on my ability to not make typos when changing things repeatedly, so multiple unnecessary contacts it is...
