    Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
    We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.

    Just want to add that it's only possible for adviser or standard + reports roles to view, edit or post Manual Journals.

    This would be great especially for those of us who have multiple companies in Xero and the changing across entities is confusing because you can't have more than 1 entity open at a time either. Something that should be considered as nice as well

    This would be great especially if you have multiple companies that you do books for. It would be great for colour and also to have multiple companies open in different windows at a 1 time to toggle between them as we are always having to switch

    Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
    We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers.     This is a big thing that needs to be changed. Most accounting packages have a check list of what you want your users to see because it can get quite complicated. I think in terms of entry level staff and restrictions this is maybe a good idea.

    I don't want users to be able to create contacts at all and this to be a finance thing but there is no restriction to this

    Xero doesn't have the ability to combine reports from multiple entities from the same Group. Currently we need to have an add on Product. One of the best Xero features is that is can be used for your whole organization, if Xero could add on a feature just for the Adviser role where we could create a custom report across multiple companies. Also if there could be a way to add a column in where you type your own amounts just for the purpose of some exercises where you could combine the books with other items in the form of excel but more formal in the books. Also because Xero doesn't function on a sub item level it would be nice to single out some items and include them in reporting. Management like to see items on different levels with out having to many items on their chart of accounts. Some thoughts for reporting that would be great

    Hi Megan, when your talk about the training and events could you explain a bit more of your business flow when using Projects? 

    Atm, you can create bills and invoices for different contacts and associated these transactions with a single project.

    Happy that multiple contacts in terms of supplier can be used but it doesn't allow for multiple customers. This single customer contact is fine for our in house project and training but not in terms of public training. In a public training we could have 5 different customers or 6. But Xero only allows for 1. I hope this makes sense.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting the ability to assign files to the project itself. While this isn't something we have planned right now we'll keep tracking the interest through the idea here. 


    To highlight, though not currently available on the Project directly, it's possible to attach files to the individual transactions within a project e.g a Bill, Invoice, Spend money or Expense. i

    Along with this, you may also find it useful to create folders within your Files library where you can collect all files related to a specific project for ease of reference. 

    Understand this isn't the ideal solution, but may help some for now 🙂
