  2. New Invoicing - have the document name of invoice include who it is from.

  3. Move the "add last items" in the invoicing screen. Half the time the Billable items button comes up first in its place, but then moves to a lower point on the screen. The problem is if you click on it before it moves to the lower point on screen or just as it does, you end up with the last invoiced items on the invoice that you don't want.

  4. When adding bills with mixed GST/GST-free items to an invoice as a single line, please preserve the tax attributions (proportions) of the items in the billable expense.

    Example: If I want to invoice a billable expense to a client from a purchase made at Coles Supermarket, the expense will contain some items that attract GST and others that do not.

    These are correctly recorded in the bill (spend money transaction), but when this bill is added to an invoice as a single line, the GST/GST-free portions of the bill are lost. (And tax is applied to the total…

When a client changes their GST taxable periods (e.g. 2-monthly to 6-monthly filing) they often need to file a return for a non-standard number of months to align with their balance date (e.g. 4-month GST return). It would be nice to be able to change the GST period settings in Xero to allow for the non-standard GST return to be filed directly from Xero.

  6. A few things I've noticed that annoy me that I think could be tweaked;

    • Duplicate bills screen is a complete waste of time in its current state. Either change the parameters for what flags as a duplicate (ie - if it's the same amount, it should also be the same date, or check for duplicate reference numbers attached to the same supplier). Also give the option to ignore all duplicates from certain suppliers or if something appears, an option to never remind for this supplier & amount again.
      Also there's a button to provide feedback that doesn't work.

  7. Currently, when filtering expenses by name, the settings reset to default each time an expense is opened and closed.

    Please update it so that the filter settings remain active, eliminating the need to reapply them for each expense viewed.

  10. Its a small change but something that bugs me as i do it at least once, sometimes twice, a day.

    Currently the "trust this device" check box is below the login button. If logging in solely on a keyboard you have to enter 2fa code, tab twice and hit the space bar to check the trust this device box then shift tab to go back up to the login button. So the keystrokes are enter 2fa, tab, tab, space, shift tab, enter

  11. I think being able to connect a barcode scanner to xero to allow users to create a new invoice and scan items to have them appear as line items would be very beneficial to many customers. A lot of people use xero to resell items and if i could create a new invoice and instead of manually type everything, to just scan the UPC and have the item pop up would help prevent human errors

  13. In files, previewing a PDF that has been uploaded or sent to files will not work for many chrome users.

    Upon opening in files, it gives the error "This file can't be previewed with this browser."

    This occurs if the user has google chrome, and has google chrome set to "Download PDFs" instead of "Open PDFs in Chrome."

    Many people have chrome set this way. Other sites have somehow managed to make their PDF preview still work...hopefully Xero can implement this. The current setup makes it very hard to review uploaded files when they are in PDF format, as they…

    Thanks for the detail in your last message, Carlo. We appreciate some users may expect this to work differently, however as you have noted the files preview for PDF's is driven by the browser settings.

    If you're finding your PDF's download rather than being able to view them in your browser we would recommend looking at your browser settings to make sure the option to view in browser has been selected (as per the screenshot you shared).

    Being upfront this is not behavior that we're looking to change in the near future.

  14. Hi,

    I would like to suggest a small but valuable improvement to the Projects section in Xero. Currently, in the "Quotes & Invoices" tab within a project, only the invoice number is displayed, which is useful for tracking. However, for many businesses, including ours, it would be incredibly helpful if both the invoice number and the reference field could be shown simultaneously in the project’s invoice summary view.

    This improvement would enhance visibility and make it easier to track project-specific details without losing sight of important invoice numbers.

  15. I am looking for an alternative to Quickbooks. As a solo consultant, I thought Xero would be the most appropriate fit for my business. Unfortunately, the fact that I need to subscribe to the top pricing plan at $115 per month in order to be able to bill for time is totally unrealistic. I thought Xero promoted itself as being a good fit for small business???? I don't need to track projects, I just need to be able to bill by the hour and invoice my 2 clients on a monthly basis. I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in these…

  16. Xero Payroll restricts the payment date to no more than 90 days after the end of the payroll period. This isn't a legal or taxation limitation, but does restrict the occassions where clients are paying payroll in less regular intervals (such as paying their entire salary annually).

    Hi team, while we appreciate the request here,considering compliance requirements for payroll in AU we want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing the ability to set the payment date beyond 90 days.

    For any employees that you may pay on an annual salary basis, we'd recommend setting the payment date 90 days before the employee's annual pay date.

  17. Have an option in settings to only allow employees to access their payslip and not create. Our employees enter their timesheets into a job management system which is synced to xero for actual payroll and timesheets however on occasion they accidentally create a payslip in xero me and it creates a heap of issues down stream

  18. Bank Reconciliation - Having a Reconciled By column.
    It would be very helpful to have a column in the bank account transactions screen that shows who reconciled the transaction. I have a client who thinks they are helping by reconciling their own transactions only to get most of them wrong. If there was a column showing the reconciler then I would very quickly be able to ascertain the transactions i need to review by running a history and notes report for that period.

  19. When running the GST Transactions Report, each and every line from each invoice is reported separately, creating a ridiculously large report.
    Perhaps there could be one single line per invoice, reporting the total GST for that invoice? Like it used to be?

  20. Xero has removed the ability for casual employees to apply for annual leave if that leave is available to them. Annual leave is part of my casual employees employment contracts. The employees and I have agreed that they will receive annual leave and sick leave.

    These leave types were catered for in the past and the employees were able to apply for them when required. Now, despite still accruing those leave types, they are unable to apply for them.
