Homepage - Simplify layout
The beta version of the new Xero layout. updated interface feels overly busy and cluttered, which makes navigation more difficult—particularly for clients who manage multiple bank accounts.
I believe users should have the choice to switch to the new layout when they’re ready, rather than being automatically transitioned.
Additionally, clients pay for Xero to streamline their financial management, not to have advertising pushed at them.The current design detracts from the user experience and makes it harder to find and complete tasks efficiently.
798 votesHi everyone, thanks for your continued feedback and we appreciate you sharing your sentiment here. We’re continuing to evolve the Homepage experience to better meet more of our customers’ needs, and your input is a big part of shaping those improvements.
One of the strongest themes in the feedback has been widget sizing. We’ve now released resize options for the Tasks, Invoices owed to you, Bills to pay, and Net profit and loss widgets, in addition to the Chart of accounts watchlist and Cash in and out widgets.
For the small size Invoices owed to you and Bills to pay widgets, once you’ve saved your Homepage, you’ll also see an option to toggle the chart on or off if you’d prefer to focus just on the figures.

Homepage - Ability to cap / fix the number of columns
I have a wide screen (normal width for a monitor, but wide compared to a tablet or laptop) which facilitates 4 widgets horizontally (the limit, after some testing).
The widgets take up the entire space horizontally, leaving no space either side, and feels cramped as a result. This is a break from a pretty long-standing web-design principle to which even the page I'm typing this suggestion into adheres (having about 10-15% margin/padding either side of your main content where space allows).

187 votesHi everyone, we appreciate and want to thank everyone for feedback on the responsiveness of the new Homepage. This has been shared back with our product teams as they continue to develop this experience.
At this stage, there are no plans to fix the number of columns when using the Homepage. However, our team will continue to monitor usage on this closely.
One recent change we’ve introduced is that the Homepage layout can be saved at each screen size.
For example, if you set up and save the Homepage layout for your laptop and then move to a larger monitor you’ll see this adapt. However, if you ‘edit’ the Homepage and save the layout separately from your monitor Xero will remember the layout for each screen size. You should only need to do this once for each screen you use.

Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Have a few options so a basic user can cut down on the noise and just have bank accounts and the profit graph, for a new user this would be overwelming.
406 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the attention this idea has been getting. It's really good to hear how we can continue to improve the Homepage for our differing customers needs. We understand not all the widgets maybe useful to every user, and the 'Edit homepage' button will let you add or remove widgets to reduce what you see on the Homepage.
Taking on board feedback we're looking at the sizing of widgets and you'll find the 'Chart of Accounts' and 'Cash in and out' widgets are now smaller by default with an option to 'Make larger' - You can follow further updates for this on the idea here.
We have plans to dig deeper into possible 'view' options (like the different levels of views being asked here) in the new year and I'll share further updates here when this gets picked up. 🙂

Homepage - Bank balance widget chart
The new homepage layout removed the 6-month historic bank account balance chart, so now we're only left with a 1-month view in the bank accounts tab.
Can you consider having an option to display the balance history chart on the home page widget once again, or make the chart on the bank accounts tab configurable to display the previous 1/3/6/12 months? It might also be worth considering an option to project the next 1 month balance based upon known income and expenses.

I’ve categorized this as Gaining Support. While we don't roll back to previous versions of the homepage, I’ve refined your idea to focus on making the balance charts configurable (1, 3, 6, or 12 months).
This covers your need for historical data while allowing for future flexibility.
Since our forum works best with one idea per post, I've focused on the chart visibility first. I’d recommend raising the "balance projection" as a separate suggestion so it can be voted on individually!

Home page - Add Tasks and reminders to take action on
Tasks. We would love to be able to manually add a task or reminder so that the next time we logged into a clients Xero we can see the reminder to check or do something.

Homepage - Lines/border around widgets
I would like lines around the widgets as I find it confusing to see where each one starts and finishes. When I use the edit homepage option the lines are good.

We appreciate further context of your needs here and want you to know this is something our team have still been looking into.
We now have a piece of work underway that when released will show borders around widgets on the homepage 🙂 Though I can't give timeframes for this as yet, I'll keep you looped in on further updates for this here.

Homepage - More Flexibility in Widget Placement
It would be great to be able to place the widgets wherever you want (like before). I would prefer to have all my bank accounts in a column, as opposed to having to have them horizontal

As mentioned in our last update, once you Edit Homepage and Save the layout this will be saved for that screen size. If you change screens a prompt is also surfaced to explain that you may want to reset and save your layout.
While we don’t have plans to allow vertical stacking at this stage, we're improving the edit experience. This will make it easier to see how changing a widget's position shifts other items on your screen. I’ll let you know as soon as this is released.

Homepage | Invoice payments widget - Summary of key outstanding invoices
Unpaid invoices summary or ability to have a customer 'watchlist' on the homepage.
Recent invoice payments is useful, but I care less about the detail of invoices that have already been paid - that money is in my account. I want to know the detail of what remains unpaid so I can follow up with those customers. It would be great to have a watchlist of customers, their total overdue balance, & average payment days, to be able to monitor on the dashboard. This could be enabled via a simple check button in the customer profile, similar to the CoA…

Being closely engaged and feeding back with our product teams I can confirm your feedback's been taken onboard, however at this time there are no plans for developing a widget of this nature.

Homepage - Add the ability to group widgets together
With many accounts on the homepage (for example multiple currency accounts), it would be great to be able to drop the widgets into a group. Almost like the iPhones home screen. The difference would be that I could have the ability to resize the group to display the widgets in the group so they could be seen all at one (if desired). e.g. A collapsable view. e.g. All my EUR accounts grouped together.
Rather than making the group resizable to any size, it would be limited to a 3x1 or a 1x3 arrangement, Or some other practical variation
61 votesHi everyone, it makes a lot of sense to want a cleaner way to organise dashboard widgets. When related items like bank accounts or invoice summaries are grouped together, it’s easier to find what you need without much scrolling..
For now, you can use the Edit dashboard button at the bottom of the page to reorder widgets—move your most-used ones to the top and hide the rest.
This idea is now Gaining Support, so we can see how many others would like more control over dashboard layout. We’d love to hear how you’d group your widgets—keep the votes and comments coming!

New Homepage - Toggle to blur sensitive information on homepage
Homepage PRIVACY - If could could please add a button, close to the top of the page, that allowed for sensitive data to be blurred with one toggle on/off. Sometimes you may still want to login and use something in a more public space, or perhaps show someone something in the system, but you do not want all your figures on display. I think this is quite an important one.

Homepage - Automatically update the Widgets
Automatically update the Widgets on the New Homepage instead of refreshing each one individually. This will significantly save time and ensure up to date accuracy
25 votesHi team, we appreciate the feedback we've received around the need to manually refresh widgets on the homepage for organisations with higher volumes of data.
Our product teams have been paying close attention and monitoring usage and we have recently released an update that will improve the experience for these larger organisations - Reducing the automatic update from 24 hours to 1 hour. Meaning your data is more recent and up to date, and saving you from having to manually refresh as often. 🙂
To reconfirm the rationale and how this works - To help the homepage load efficiently, some widgets in these organisations show data from the last 1 hour by default.
- These widgets are designed to automatically update with the latest figures from the last 1 hour when you log in.

Homepage - Ability to control what messages and adverts appear
The Dashboard has been used as an advertising medium lately as well as a messaging medium informing users about Xero's latest acquisition or some new feature they want users to know about.
The dashboard is a useful feature but distractions on the dashboard kill my productivity. Also, Xero have existing ways to communicate with users (email, xero messages/notifications, community forum, Xero blog etc etc) - they should leave the Dashboard for business use.

Homepage - Ability to customize
It would be great for those that have various type of color blindness to be able to change the color, say the user has an issue with the color red or green, being able to change the color would be beneficial.

Improve product update communication with rollout windows and a "What's Changing This Week" partner update
As a Xero Partner, keeping up with product changes has become increasingly difficult. We support multiple clients and need time to update internal procedures, workpapers, templates, training documents and client instructions before changes appear in their files.
At the moment, product information is spread across multiple places, including Product Releases, Learning Central and Xero Product Ideas/Innovations. It is easy to miss changes, and partners often don't know a feature has rolled out until clients start asking questions.

On the Sales menu, I would like a sub-menu/fly-out to the right of Invoices with links to the Draft, Awaiting Approval, Awaiting Payment, Paid, and Repeating tabs on the Invoices page. This would enable me to go directly to the tab I want, saving a click or two, and reduce page load time instead of always landing on the default tab then having to click the one I actually want. Clicking Invoices should still go to the All tab. Same could be done on the Purchases menu for Bills.

Homepage - Search for bank accounts widgets
To have the search function look up bank accounts by name or number. As we have approx 80 bank accounts in one Xero dashboard scrolling to find the correct one is very time consuming, so a search function would be very handy.

Homepage - Display the Current Lock Date
Add an optional setting to display the current lock date clearly on the Xero home page so it is visible at all times.
