  1. Would it be useful to have separate fields for Legal Name and Trading Name? This would separate the Legal Name as registered with ABN and the Trading Name used with Customers?

  2. Bookkeepers and accountants often manage multiple clients, with each client having multiple Xero organisations (e.g. trading entity, trust, SMSF, property entity, or separate business divisions).

    Currently, all Xero organisations are displayed in a single flat list within My Xero, making it difficult to quickly locate the correct organisation for a particular client.

    Proposed Feature

    Introduce the ability to create Client Groups (Folders) within My Xero that allow users to organise multiple Xero organisations under a single client.

  3. Your documentation describes Prepayments as "taxable". A "prepayment" in the US (assuming accrual basis) is considered a "deposit" for some future work. The deposit is not a taxable event until the "future work" is completely or partially invoiced, when the sales tax is applied to the amount invoiced. The "deposit" (the "prepayment") paid is merely an amount waiting to be applied as a payment against the invoiced work, in full or in part, and is not in itself a taxable transaction - unless the organization is on the cash basis of accounting.   4. IR have recently posted an advisory regarding instances of scammers gaining access to customer’s IR accounts and re-directing refunds to their own bank accounts.

    There are a few improvements that Xero could make to improve protection for clients:
    - add a bank account field to XPM GST returns. The bank account number does not appear on XPM GST returns so there is no check for clients when signing a GST return. A refund GST return filed directly through IR includes a screen to check the refund bank account.

    Appreciate the feedback on how we could improve these forums for your use, Vince. It'd be great to get more understanding of how being able to filter by vote would help you.

    Right now, form within a forum or category there are a few sort options including Hot ideas, Top or New.

    Top will sort all ideas within that forum or category by most to least amount of votes. Appreciate, there is no way to do this from search atm though.

  6. Remove the ability from certain users to delete bank line transactions.

    We need clients to update bank login details etc however we don't want them to have the ability to delete line transactions.

    Hi Zak, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand how having more granular user permissions to prevent specific users from deleting bank transactions could help strengthen internal controls while still allowing users to complete their task.

    I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this permission would be valuable for your business, we'd love to hear more about how you manage bank permission across your team.

  7. If a user has access to Invoices and Purchases and they have the ability to change Customer detail the role or an additional role should be to be able to export customer lists details as well as a seperate roll to access the age receivables.

    This would give the Debtos managment role full access to follow up on all debtors and be able to update details for customers in bulk.

    Hi Rozane, thanks for raising this idea. We can see how being able to export contacts with Invoice Only permissions could help businesses delegate tasks to team members without giving extra permission.

  8. I would like to see these across payroll, invoicing, etc. - all of Xero. It would be so helpful if admins could add tooltips to things to provide directions/instructions to staff. For example, a tooltip next to the "label" field in expense claims could tell staff what information this company wants in there to make that useful. Integrating tooltips could be a way to log compliance or chosen procedures/use across the platform. For example, putting a tooltip next to the options to add projects in expenses/invoices would help someone log guidance on when a project needs to be associated. Putting…

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand why having the ability to add tooltips, directions, or instructional notes within workflows could be useful, especially when training teams or guiding users through data entry processes.

    The idea is to allow users to add custom guidance alongside fields, helping provide context at the point of entry and reducing the need for separate instructions or follow-ups.

  9. In the Chart of Account Watchlist we are wanting to track in year categories that have opening balances. We're changing the Chart of Accounts to make this fit but a toggle to include or exclude opening balances would be really handy so you can choose to see only true in year transactions

    Hi everyone, thanks for raising this idea. We understand why having the option to exclude opening balances from the Chart of Accounts Watchlist widget could be useful, especially when using the dashboard to monitor current-period activity.

    The idea is to allow users to filter out opening balances from the Watchlist view, making it easier to focus on in-year movements and get a clearer picture of current account performance.

  10. Advisor role should be higher authority than standard, ie to be able to override locked period transaction without opening the period. Able to build new/custom report, submit BAS.

    Hi Dina, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand why having the Advisor role provide broader capabilities than the Standard role could be valuable for practices managing client files and completing higher-level accounting tasks.

    Currently, some actions still require additional steps outside of the Advisor role, such as making adjustments to locked periods, creating custom reports, or completing certain compliance-related tasks. Having these capabilities available within the Advisor role could help reduce unnecessary workflow interruptions and better reflect the level of access expected from an Advisor user.

    We appreciate the examples shared around how this impacts day-to-day practice workflows. I’ve updated the status of this post to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking feedback and gathering more votes.

    Hi Douglas, appreciate you sharing how Xero could be a more powerful tool for you. We understand that a Progressive Web App (PWA) experience could be useful for those looking for a more app-like desktop workflow with quicker access and a dedicated workspace.

    Xero is currently designed to run through your web browser, alongside our mobile apps, and a full PWA version is not currently on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can create a desktop shortcut using Chrome or Edge to open Xero in its own window, which can help keep your workflow separate from other browser tabs.

    I’ve updated this post to Gaining Support as we are keen to continue tracking feedback and gather more insight from the community on how this would support their workflows.

  13. Find and Recode should not be able to change tax type without fair warnings in Sales Invoices.

    This is a risky feature to be used without warning. I have noticed that it doesn't change the sales invoice, which it shouldn't. But surprise was it could change any invoices selected no matter if those were already issued/ paid/ closed etc.

  14. Since its introduction, the Xero app has had a significantly positive impact on my clients, enhancing their overall accounting experience and improving efficiency in managing their finances. I greatly appreciate the value the platform continues to provide.

    However, I would like to raise a concern regarding the absence of the demo company feature on the Xero mobile application. Currently, the demo company is only accessible via the web-based platform, which presents a challenge when demonstrating the app’s capabilities to prospective clients using mobile devices.

  15. I would like a link to the Xero portal where tax documents are sent for e-signing. Rather than having to find an email with the link to the Xero portal to e-sign tax documents, it would be helpful for clients to be able to simply click a link within Xero to go back to the Xero portal and see past signed documents or anything that is waiting to be signed.

I am going through a bad divorce and I have to give my ex wife read only access to my company file however i am going against court orders and not giving her access as i know she will take invoices, purchase orders and product sell and buy prices to my competitors once our settlement is complete.

    I need xero to create a read only service that does not show invoices, purchase orders, bills, inventory and also removes the report tab. pretty much just allow her to see bank accounts and where money is getting allocated.

Xero’s current roles (including Read only) are intentionally broad, but we know they’re often too ‘all or nothing’. We can’t give a timeline for specific changes to Read only yet, but the direction is definitely toward more configurable roles and tighter control over what view-only users can see.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having a quicker way to return to recent searches could help when moving between clients, transactions, and reports.

    The suggestion is to add a recent search history dropdown in the global search bar, making it easier to revisit previous searches without re-entering the same details.

    For now, opening commonly used items in separate browser tabs can help you move between workflows without losing your place. We’ll continue tracking this idea here so the community can share feedback and use cases to help shape future improvements.

  20. I am a Xero user (not Practice Hub/XeroHQ) with user access to 33 Xero files. Each day I need to go into each individual Xero file if I want to check what Bills are coming due or outstanding sales invoices. Would it be possible to improve the My Xero screen which shows all the Xero files I have access to to be more like a dashboard showing what is outstanding/due and what tasks are needed across all Xero files. Thanks :)
