Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

I agree with most of these comments. Too many to read. We're a small self-employed business and Classic works just fine! Why does it need to be retired why can't we have the option as to what to choose? For what we are charged per month we should have the right to choose what works for our business. We don't use half the features as they aren't needed e.g. payroll.

The new invoicing does not work with my business we need to attach job sheets and satisfaction notes and we start with raising an invoice from the files we have uploaded into files and this function is now not available and without the preview of the files we have uploaded on the left hand side of the screen it’s not a workable option and makes other softwares more desirable. I love xero and have used it for years now on other businesses and advised others to use your product all working the same kind of way and now the features we need to run our businesses are being taken away!! Keep the functions of the current invoicing and just update the look if that’s what you’re going for but you needs to keep functionality or it’s pointless and unworkable

Need to be able to view inventory. It is futile to track items without being able to see the inventory balance when keying an invoice. This is a deal breaker for us. When I sent an enquiry I was advised to switch back to "classic" - I won't be able to do this in September. Also the size is way too big. We have approximately 50 lines an invoice. When you can only view 3-4 lines per screen this means the invoice is many pages long. You need to consider it from the perspective of data entry, not just aesthetics', it would be like having a Excel spreadsheet buy only being able to view a dozen or so cells at a time. It was one of the attractions of Xero in the first place. Very disappointed.

Please include the option to attach files from the Xero File Folder. I have all documents emailed to the file folder for ease of filing and attaching. Having to download onto a local computer is not a secure way to handle to docs when bookkeepers are located in a remote situation.
Please return the save and approve buttons to the bottom of the page.
I like to be able to tab across to each field and use the mouse as little as possible. -

I've only had a trial in the demo company. But it appears as though "Overpayments are not supported"
What happens when my boss pays an invoice but looks at the wrong figure an accidentally pays too much?
(Maybe there is a work around but it was straight forward in Classic) -

New invoicing format isn't a workable replacement for Classic format. There are too many features that I use daily that aren't included.

The new invoicing is terrible to use. It has features not included, moved and/or made harder to access. Please do not force us to use this new system. The classic format is user friendly.

Keep ALL of the Classic invoicing functions in the new interface.

I have no idea who was in charge of the UAT or who their test panel were but they need firing! Absolutely shocking piece of software design with absolutely no thought for the end users.

The new invoicing is horrible, way to big and way too much white space. This is what you would expect at the beginning when Xero came out and first started when designing invoicing. Classic works fine and maybe just the odd tweak in some things but to drop a lot of what is in Classic for a so called updated version that requires way more effort to use is backwards. I don't ever recall seeing requests to basically change the whole invoicing layout etc. Are these developers or whoever just changing things to justify their jobs because there's other things that have been asked for over the years and have not even been considered or else it's quite technical. Well this new invoicing must be quite technical to the point it's not even user friendly on purpose.

New invoicing - Option to toggle off "Include quick link to online invoice and detail summary"
Details of the content/items on the Invoice should not be shown on the body of the email, to which the Invoice is attached.

Keep Classic Invoicing please. I would like to save the invoice without having to exit the invoice as the new version does.

I tried the new invoicing now that we are being forced to. I strongly DISLIKE.
1. Not smooth moving from field to field (tab worked great for speed in Classic, not great in new format)
2. Date picking fields cumbersome and time consuming to enter.
3. Remove default of "Approve and Email" as I want to review the invoice before sending. In fact, I want to add a payment to the invoice first before sending so that the customer doesn't freak out that they got an invoice when they already gave me a cheque and that it should be zero dollars.
4. Adding a payment - it took me a bit to figure out adding a payment until I saw the button in the top right.
5. Emailing the invoice once a payment is added - I couldn't find the email button as it is buried with other pull down options.
6. When I add a payment, classic closes the invoice and says payment added, and asks if I want to send a receipt - which I always do. Now I had to go back to the invoice, click on the payment, which goes to the payment screen, then click the pull down to send receipt. SO SLOW.
7. Full invoice doesn't fit on the screen. I couldn't see the full G/L account name, so I only see "Registration Fees" - well I have multiple accounts starting with "Registration Fees" - is it for programs? tournaments? event? Had to press approve in order to see it in the description. At least let me see the account number if there isn't enough space! The time it took me to enter and process payment on one invoice under new format, I could have done 4 in the classic mode.
Terrible. This needs more refinement before releasing.

Another thing missing on new invoicing - when viewing a sent invoice, there is no where to update the expected payment date.
@xero - so may issues - surely you're not actually going to go live with this and turn off classic

Agree with all the comments, ideas regarding the new invoicing. Adding on with the invoice link is not direct as classic invoicing where we have to copy and paste to a new web page instead of ONE click to open up the link.
Please keep the classic invoicing!

Why is payment not in the same position on New invoicing as on the new billing page.
At the bottom of the invoice, it is easy to enter rather than click up the top and then click again to see the reference field, which could easily be displayed as there is plenty of room to do so.
