Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

New invoicing is not a good UX. The product code pop-up is all invasive and I had trouble getting the cursor into the correct box. Switching back to classic was instantly easier.
It needs work before switching off classic.

Not being able to use Tracking categories on the new invoicing will be detrimental to business

Can't view a file in the invoice easily, it opens up in a new tab, making it much more time consuming to check small details. Auto-save would be useful if it worked. The only good part of new invoicing is being able to see the billing and delivery address under the contact on the invoice, where the addresses are different. Add this to the classic invoicing.

New invoicing is not yet fit for purpose.
At a minimum the following changes would be required:
1) History and notes need to be available on screen for quick access
2) There should be a fast option to add extra lines
3) Approve and email should either not be default option, or should be a choice for the individual user
4) There should be an option to add attachments -

The new invoicing isnt fit for purpose! Please bring back classic invoicing. On the new one you cant do the following (as far as I can see?) - add in a payment, - add in an expected date of payment, - see notes at a glance, - add in tracking categories, - create a credit note (it creates a duplicate invoice if you use the create and allocate credit), - copy using the same contact, - drop down to just approve, - see who an invoice was sent to, - change the date easily without having to click loads of options to get the calender view, and I am sure there are other things that i havent come across yet! PLEASE keep classic inovicing!!!

Your new Invoicing is awful. The layout is horrible the account & GST are under the Item/Description column which looks confusing. The "copy" button no longer copies to the contact which means more data entry which kind of defeats the purpose of copying the darn invoice. The fact you now have to use a dropdown to just "approve" or save the invoice is also stupid. The whole thing is hideous

You need to keep the history and notes that show the date, time and email address the invoice was sent to.
In some cases the original email used is no longer valid and you don't get notified by the company itself that there's been a change to the contact.
Even more important when chasing overdue invoices when they are likely to be filed for Debt Collection as this give the ability to show you have been chasing up the debt and the contact/s you sent these too as proof before you can even write them off as a bad debt. I have used this when I have had to file for Debt Collection of unpaid invoices and they like as much info as possible.I also often get people saying they didn't receive the invoice and I can check that and then tell them exactly when I sent it including the time it was sent.
Sometimes I think they just use the "I didn't get it" excuse as their reason for late payment and nine times out of 10 when I've replied with the details we then get payment unless the sent from Xero email address is seen as spam which has also happened in the past. You need to start listening to your customers instead of doing what you want with all these so called improvements.
You can't even get the due date on your Xero Subscriptions invoices correct e.g issued 27th Jan due 27th Jan yet a message pops up that it will show as overdue on our account but isn't so if you can't get that correct then why force all these useless/time consuming changes to invoicing on your customers.
That is terrible from an accounts perspective as the invoice isn't overdue yet it comes through to my side like that so I change the due date to the Direct Debit date so it's not reflecting as over due on my end for reports etc.

Very important! I need to be able to use an existing invoice and copy all the details to a Purchase Order, not just another invoice. The invoice details are long, so this is going to become VERY time consuming if I can't just copy it all to a Purchase Order.
Also, I have noticed that when I copy to another invoice when using the exact invoice from the previous week it doesn't bring the contact name across. Annoying!!

The new invoicing system is absolute rubbish. Don't change something that works perfectly. It might be good for Xero but not for the customer who come first.

You don't seem to be able to attach a file from the library any more.

Really dislike ‘approve & email’ as first button. Why can’t we just ‘approve’ in one click like before. Not use a drop down.

I agree that the Classic Invoicing format was much better, especially that fact that you can increase the number of lines to 5, 10, or 20. Now I have to enter the first line and press tab to have a new line appear. That is not convenient for my invoicing to our big clients.

The new invoicing system is not an improvement - it takes longer and is less efficient and user friendly. Rub it out and start again. It takes longer, and having to scroll down the drop down button to avoid "approve and email" is a nuisance if I am not ready to send it right away. Classic invoicing wasn't perfect, but it worked. And bring back Xero to Xero. I can't believe you abandoned this time-saving measure.

Please stick to the Classic Invoicing. Many of us like to view the invoice to check for errors before it is emailed so the approve and email is not a good idea.
Also, I often need to check when the invoice has been emailed to the customer - now the note says - generated through xero. We need to know when it was physically emailed to the customer. -

No button to add another invoice if you are not quick enough to click on the pop up.
No address search on new customer addresses
The whole look of it is clunky -

In the new invoicing when using auto sales tax lookup you have to enter the delivery address every time which is something you don't need selling at a brick and motor location without the delivery. Some sales are delivered and some are not so it would be nice if it would hold the store location address in as a saved address for quick entry. In classic you don't have to enter a delivery address at all but you have to use manual sales tax.

OS platform. Totally agree, there is no button for next invoice and print PDF does not auto download, creating even more windows.

This new invoicing is very clunky please keep the classic invoicing....
You have no option to amend the attention field within the invoice - this can only be done within the contact.
A zoom out feature is required as the new layout is too blown up resulting in me having to minimise the invoice screen which in turn minimises the rest of the functions and makes them so small I have to zoom in again!!!
