Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.
Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.
We've recently optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.
Our decision remains that we won’t be adding an option to turn off autosave on invoices. However, we hope this change improves your experience with autosave in draft invoices over time. Thanks again for your feedback.

I can't understand the dumb logic of the coding behind the need for autosave after every word in a description cell; therefore, there is a delay in completing a simple task. Common sense would tell you to await the end of the full row before initiating autosave.
Presumably, the lag is down to the AI learning processes you are trying to utilise?

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.
We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.
In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:
- Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
- Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
- Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

My workaround is to add "DO NOT PAY" after the invoice number as that shows up in the report I run off.
Similarly, I add one of the following after the Supplier name "- DD/SO/CARD" to make sure those aren't paid manually.

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Keep classic invoicing until all its functionality is transferred to the new invoicing.
It is childish to break the functionality of classic invoicing while you are still telling us to use it to resolve the bugs in the programming of the new invoicing.

As a follow-up to my last comment, to maybe further explain how I managed to get to speak to a support supervisor and, therefore get the screen share session where you can show them how you use xero and then can show how it currently works in classic compared to not working in new.
Once you raise a support case, you then have a case where you can then give them feedback, or as I did copy and paste my comment about the new fault I found into the support case thread, and that got the response that they had escalated it to a support specialist. During the session, she was checking it against the list they have and what status that was at currently being worked on or to get working on or to add to the list.
As proof that they are working on things, they have already addressed the oft reported Invoice address missing problem.
If you want to be productive, give them all the info you can by getting screen share sessions with support specialists via the above method and continue posting the faults to the community forum.
Just posting comments that they haven't fixed things yesterday will just get you angrier without helping them or us get it resolved.
Yes, their handling of this has been dumb and no doubt they will lose subscribers which still might include the group of companies I work for if the functionality isn't sorted before their cutoff date.An error occurred while saving the comment Paul Rosser commented
As I have managed to speak to a Support Specialist after reporting bugs, I have been assured that they are taking note and the intention is to get all the current functionality from classic invoicing transferred to the new invoicing.
They have asked me to keep reporting the bugs and trying to grab screenshots to send in especially if you get error messages. Be aware that the popup error message will most likely appear in the bottom left-hand window of your screen, especially if you are looking at the top right-hand button on a large monitor, another issue I raised, is that the message only appears for several seconds, is not the familiar in-page highlighted error message. My recommendation is to raise a fault report with support, and also post the problem in one of these community threads. Hopefully, more people will get the chance to show the problem via screen share and talk through the problems with a bookkeeping-trained support specialist.

Appreciate your feedback here, and I've shared this back with our teams at Xero. We want to be upfront that as we continue to develop Xero products and features and update technology, this will ultimately result in some change to designs, actions and flows.
Product ideas here is a great place to share what improvements we can make in specific features or how we could develop new features that would enable you to grow your businesses.
As we make decisions around new experiences we're keeping customers front of mind. Our product teams regularly review feedback and consider asks from our community in product ideas. We also do thorough testing before changes are released, to try and make transitions as smooth as possible for our customers.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your support for part disposal of Fixed Assets in Xero. Being transparent - current work for the team requires focus on upgrades to Fixed Asset technology.
However, we’re thinking of what comes next and partial disposal of an asset figures strongly in this. Please continue to detail your particular use cases here in Product Ideas.
As we continue forming the future of Fixed Assets in Xero insights from Product Ideas here will feed into the team's plans.Paul Rosser supported this idea ·

Hi community, we’ve just released some new keyboard shortcuts to new invoicing, that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with some simple keyboard entry options.
There’s a range of different shortcuts that you can explore, and in particular a few that I wanted to call out for ‘Approve’ options that I know will be of most interest to you, here;
- Approve (Ctrl-Alt-A OR Cmd-Opt-A on a Mac)
- Approve & add another (Ctrl-Alt-O OR Cmd-Opt-O on a Mac)
- Approve & print PDF (Ctrl-Alt-R OR Cmd-Opt-R on a Mac)
- Approve & email / send eInvoice (Ctrl-Alt-E OR Cmd-Opt-E on a Mac)
While you get used to the combinations of shortcuts our product team have added small prompts to highlight these in the product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can see them all on Xero Central.

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

Thanks for your continued engagement and valuable feedback on this long-standing idea, everyone. We've been carefully reviewing your comments and want to acknowledge the clear sentiment of frustration regarding the current limitations around managing multiple addresses for contacts, particularly for invoicing and delivery purposes, and that this is a critical feature to many of you.
We want to share an update on our progress here - We're pleased to confirm that the foundational work for handling multiple addresses has been completed within the Contacts area of Xero. This was a crucial first step. Building on this, now that all customers are on the new invoicing experience our product team has moved into the discovery phase for adding multiple addresses directly within invoicing. This means they are actively exploring the best way to implement this functionality to meet your needs effectively.
We appreciate your patience as we work through the complexities…

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

Thanks everyone for your feedback on the invoice print option. We know how much our customers value efficient workflows, and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how the current "Print PDF" button works.
For those of you looking for a smoother printing experience, a helpful workaround is to set your browser to automatically open PDFs in your preferred viewer after downloading. This can save you a few clicks in the process.
In the interest of transparency, a direct print PDF functionality that go through the download step isn't in our development plans.
You can continue to vote on this idea so if our position changes in the future we will update you all, here.

Thanks for your continued engagement with us through this idea, team. As mentioned in my last update this idea spans different areas that you see defaults automating and improving efficiencies in how you invoice with Xero.
Since my last update, we've released some keyboard shortcuts to help with navigation and entry in some areas of invoicing, and we delivered the ability to invoice to your contact groups within the new experience.
As mentioned while we don't have plans for changing the behaviour of the select options when sending an invoice, these are driven by your last selection, using web browser settings.
Recently, we made a slight change to the way defaults are applied when you copy and invoice for a contact. So, now when you copy and invoice to the same contact defaults from their contact will be applied to the draft invoice, which aligns with the way this worked…

Hi everyone, we want to share that we've released a change to history for each time an invoice is sent.
Invoice history will now show the primary recipient email whenever an invoice is sent. This includes the initial and any subsequent send of an invoice.
We appreciate this has been a pain point for everyone that's joined in the idea here and hope this visibility improves your experience in invoicing.
We'd like to confirm how this works;
- This record is only applicable from here on in, there are no updates to any historical entries for sending.
- History will show the email of the initial recipient entered in the 'To' field any emails that you include as a CC or BCC option will not be shown.
We do want to highlight, that while the email will be recorded in majority of cases, there are a few scenarios our team have picked…

514 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't…Paul Rosser supported this idea ·

Hi team, appreciate wanting an update - I'm pleased to share the beta went well and we've now launched international bill payments for our UK customers, making it easier to pay overseas suppliers.
Using open banking, UK businesses can now securely send money to 180+ countries including Europe (EUR), America (USD) and Australia (AUD). So you don't have to juggle multiple platforms or hidden fees. Whether you're paying a single bill or multiple bills at once, you can authorise payments prepared by your team and easily track which suppliers have been paid.
We’re committed to new ways to expand our bill payments feature for small businesses and their advisors in other regions by leveraging new technologies, where available. I'll keep you updated of any further developments for this, here.

Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to.
We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.
We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land.

Do not mess up bills with autosave like you have with new invoicing.
In this type of situation, provide a large pop-up window that people can't miss to give them the option to save the changes before leaving the page, like so many other websites do.
If you were a company that cares about its longstanding customers, you would implement this feature for invoicing as well, negating the autosave mess
