Petition for Xero Executives Regarding Alleged "Improvements"
Petition for Xero Executives Regarding Alleged "Improvements"
I encourage Xero Subscribers and other customers to start commenting and upvoting so we can show the Executives that these "improvements" are NOT improvements!
So, if you have had problems with any of the alleged improvements, some I have listed below, they include any sub issues associated with the changes.
Please add only "I agree" in comments. This will help our overall numbers into a louder and bigger voice.
- New Bills View
- New Contacts View
- New Invoice View
- Retiring of classic invoice layout
- Xero Support Staff Gaslighting you
Unfortunately, there are so many ideas and comments that I cant list them all, but there is slightly different wording and multiple threads, that Xero staff either close or merge, and muddy the issue actually diluting the bigger problem, that customers are not being consulted, nor are we being heard.
Stop treating us like "users" - we are your customers.

Hi community, I’d like to share the new Xero Central page for new invoicing that we noted was coming.
Along with updates to individual ideas on the site here, this page will become the one source for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Remember, you can keep switching between the two products between now and September. Thanks

Well done Xero on getting an astounding 10 out of 10 for the gas lighting at least....keep up the "good" work.

Xero learns nothing with each ‘new improvement’ it pushes out. The same condescending attitudes are trotted out and users are told to suck it up. The amount of time I waste trying to use new ‘views’, ‘reports’, etc. when Xero still hasn’t fixed any issues with even basics like sort employees by last name as default. How lucky we are, now we can watch even more of their stupid, useless videos, they are as useful as the help functions. Why give me a generic payroll warning for something Xero does not allow to be deleted? I don’t have a clue who the moron end user is that wants to use an accounting product marketing itself as ‘beautiful business’, I want functional and useful, I could not care less if the interface is ‘pretty’ I just don’t have time to constantly update our users on why Xero has made more changes no one wanted because the backend is old and Xero wants to operate in other countries. That should have remained a Xero problem and not mine.

New Invoicing! GRRRR
Just made the switch and you can no longer attach documents from xero files - what an utter, utter, backward step!
My clients upload supporting paperwork to files for me to attach to the records in xero - so Im supposed to download it to my laptop and then upload via drop and drag?
Also if I go into files and pick option to add to new invoice - it doesnt work either (not that I like this method as it leaves the document in files rather than clearing it out of there).
It was bad enough when we lost the ability to add documents (contracts, bank statments etc) to contact records from files but this is now becoming unworkable software where every update is a backwards step.
Xero you are ruining your own product. -

Moved to 'Not Planned' to prevent any further voting on the issue, save your embarrassment? Wish you would comment on other issues that have been raised for years so quickly!!

It appears that the so-called UI professionals at Xero don't grasp the concept of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." And are you seriously suggesting that it would take months to integrate some functionalities from the old invoice? It's 2024; it should only take a few days to program those features unless they're coding in Cobalt language.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for missing the point of the complaint and then replying in such a condescending tone...it is so much appreciated as one of Xero's customers. /sarcasm
For the record, we don't have an issue with good and sensible changes; we don't have an issue with updating the platform.
We do have issues with changes being made to take away functionality that we use and updates being made that look like nothing more than cosmetic alterations.
Take the invoicing system changes for instance...if the new interface had the same functionality but just a different look, then no one would be complaining. The issue is you have both changed the layout AND taken away functionality and then replaced it with functionality that we do not use and a more annoying and less useful interface.
The point of using Xero is that it is meant to increase our productivity and decrease the time we have to spend doing various aspects...not increase the time/clicks and aggravation we feel trying to run our already time-poor businesses and lives.
If the old version is based on old tech then fine, update the tech and give it a coat of paint, but don't mess around with functionality that till now has worked perfectly fine.
Additionally, I couldn't care less about what Xero needs to do for customers in the US, Europe, the UK, etc. I run my business in Australia under Australian Tax and Business law. If that means that Xero needs to make multiple system templates for invoicing to service different countries' needs, then so be it! You extract enough of a subscription fee each month that you should be able to sort it out.
I respectfully suggest that you guys get with the program or you're going to start losing customers.

Wow! Basically you need to make new invoicing more like classic invoicing but using the new technology, and not tell your users you think they are inflexible "We know that learning new product features can be a challenge when you have established ways of working"- frankly rude!
I hope you use practicing accountants to test it this this time. -

Part payments, Approve and email buttons, exchange rates on the old system were user friendly.

Totally agree.
"Improvements"?
I wouldn't call improvements any of the below, just to name a few:
Price increases
Adding more steps to certain functionalities
Ignoring us completely for years ( Especially about the delete option for contacts - which is still not there )Ridiculous all together.
I'll give them minus 10 stars if I could.

Functionality is far more important than looking pretty.
If you want to keep your clients, you need to listen to what they are saying.Once they leave, you have lost them for good.

I think we should be making shareholders aware as well as attempting to target Xero managers:

I agree.
Don't know who the product testers are but they are not accountants, doubt they are real users.
Xero needs to realise that the further they go down the "software for idiots" route that takes away from the actual functionality of the product accountants will start leaving in droves. Product too expensive to be poor quality.
Sure a disruptor will be around soon that will actually understand what their market needs and will start taking customers in droves.
Beautiful isn't a desirable asperation. You should be going for functional.
