CIS - Registered users UTR number for verification for partnerships
Include the option to enter the Registered User's UTR number in CIS verifications as well as the Organisations UTR number which will allow partnerships to be verified - HMRC need both to verify a partnership.

Contacts - Compact view to reduce white space
In the new contact view, everything is spread out, with lots of wasted white space (similar to the bills list without 'compact view' toggled, or the list of repeating bills (which doesn't have the ability to be compact in view). I can deal with the info I need to pick a transaction to open being on complete opposite sides of a widescreen by pulling the contact into a new window and reducing the width of that window until it's readable without excessive twisting of the head (a poor workaround for an ergonomics risk, but it's the only one I could find) but there's more space between the text lines I'm comparing than the text itself takes up. The ideal spacing between lines of text is 130-150% of the height of the font, and Xero has chosen a little over 300%.
It's very pretty, but it's not ergonomic nor user-friendly. There's so much white space that it doesn't meet Web Accessibility guidelines, because Xero has used it to, in effect, separate lines within a paragraph instead of separating paragraphs from each other. It's not prose, it's a table. The data is MEANT to be compared to each other, not separated by what feels like an infinite void - and since we cannot readily adjust the spacing of either columns or lines to meet our personal requirements, it fails at Accessibility there too.

Reporting - Rollover current/GST account codes to Opening Balance account
Would like to see Current Account codes rollover each year to an Opening Current Account Balance (same with GST codes, Tax codes, HP's, Bank loans) - like P&L items do to Retained Earnings code. And show the Opening Balance on the Trial Balance.
Currently Xero Trial Balance shows Current Account codes (& all of the above codes) with accumulated Opening Balance & current year movement.
However the report formatting in the advisor standard reports appears to be driven off movements in the current year (so we can't journal the closing balances from last year to an opening balance code - because that is considered movement)
Jump forward a few years and these current accounts & GST codes etc will show millions and millions in the YTD column on the Trial Balance as are accumulating - ideally want to see just the movement in each code for the year, with an opening balance - rolled over account for each of these codes.
Report formatting is currently an issue because of how Xero is picking up the eg Current Account/GST codes. If the P&L codes can roll to the Retained Earnings code, could the Current Account codes roll to an Opening Balance code please (likewise with other above codes).

Accounting Data - Option to select what to export
General Ledger export from Xero file. Currently when you export the general ledger transactions from Xero and import into MYOB (which we use MYOB AO for our year end Financials) the transactions are the full audit history of the Xero transactions not just what shows in a general ledger report. If transactions have been edited in any way this creates multiple additional entries and reversals to sift through in MYOB. It would be great to have the option to exclude the audit history transactions and just have what shows in the general ledger report.

Projects - Assign bills to closed Projects
As an event company, we often receive bills months after the original project is "complete". I wish I could assign costs to "complete" projects the same way that I can assign invoices to "complete" projects.
38 votesHi Leah, when you've closed/completed a project it is still possible to add Bills and new Expense tasks to it.
From the bill you'll be able to look up and assign lines of your Bill, or within the project you can simply add an expense. The only transactions you can no longer add once closed are Billable expenses, Spend monies and time entries.
Is there a specific reason you need to enter the expense as one of these type of items?

UK Payroll - Pension file to display gross earnings
PAPDIS file download to include total Gross Salary and not just the Salary with the £520 not pensionable deducted and the pension provider we use (Creative) expects this in their upload. EVery month I have to edit Gross Pensionable Pay for all employees to add the £520 on the PAPDIS CSV I download.

UK CIS - Audit history of emails sent out from CIS Contractor
It would be really useful to be able to view the email content/date/time/recipient, etc of the emails sent to CIS Subcontractors when we send the monthly CIS Statements via Xero to them.

Quotes - Automatically add attachments when emailing
We have to disclose certain information when issuing quotes and it would be very helpful if we could choose a template that automatically adds documents to our quotes as instead we have to; create the quote; process it; go back into the quote; attach the files and then send this out to the client. We only have 1 business manager and this is very time consuming for them as their time could be spent elsewhere.

Projects - Create more tabs for Projects
in Projects, you only have 3 options as tabs, Draft, in progress or closed, it would be great if i could create more tabs. (on proof to customer, waiting on customer artwork, etc)

Reconciliation - Foreign payment from foreign currency (different)
It would be useful to be able to reconcile a payment from one foreign bank account (eg USD) for another foreign currency.
We tend to have predominately USD customers and a lot of EUR suppliers, so we find that quite often we make a payment to our EUR supplier out of our USD bank account.
When reconciling this in the bank we have to post a payment to a manual clearing account to then be able to post the payment to the EUR Supplier account to clear the invoices.
It would be useful if the feature shown when reconciling (show only GBP Items - which is our base currency) were to show all items and Xero would be able to match the payment to the bill using the exchange rates in the system.

Xero Me - Change Expense claimant on Xero Me app
Change Expense Claimant in Expense Claims.
I have a delegate who adds most all of my expenses using XeroMe.They are not an employee rather a bookeeper at the accountant. At present using XeroMe all expeneses are created in their name and in Xero, it states them as an Employee and after saving or submitting you cannot change whom it is for.
In Xero on a laptop, you can change who a claim is for, why is this greyed out in XeroMe?
It should be the same.Also, it would be good to enhance Xero, where you can change the submitter if needed to direct funds to the right person.
Hope many people agree, as it seems the Omni-Experience here has been overlooked and does not become mobile first if all receipts should be loaded via a computer. :)

General Ledger (detailed) - Quantity column
Hi there, would be awesome to be able to have a column in the detailed general ledger which has the quantities from what you entered in the quantity column when you reconcile the transactions. This is especially important when figured is used with Xero. As it takes a lot of time to go into each transaction and see what the stock quantities are to get the group total.

You could group by Item name, include Expense, Inventory & Revenue accounts, as well as QoH movement to view the total # of units sold in the period you're running the report for.

Invoicing - Auto send receipt when payment applied to invoice
Allow XERO to automatically send a receipt to a client when an invoice is paid in part or in full.
101 votesThanks for all the feedback and detail on your needs in the idea here. As you'll see from each others comments there are different points at which businesses would want to be automating this process. Not really a one size fits all approach.
As noted in recent comments, we recently made a change for new invoicing flow where (like classic) you can now choose to Send receipt from the payment confirmation that's shown once you apply a payment to an invoice.
At this time we don't have plans for automating this flow however we're still attuned to the idea here and will be sure to share if there are any plans made toward this in the future.

Xero Me - Clock in and clock out on timesheets
Xero Me - Needs spot in App to input the Earnings Rate and Tracking Category for the employee. Needs a start/stop button for clocking in/out so that when the employee starts the day they simply press start and the app records the time started. When they press stop it records the stop time until the start time is pressed again. This can be used for breaks and for start and finish of the day - these can be edited if someone forgets. Currently you have to type in times and this can only be done at the end of the day or any day but you cant put a start time without entering an end time which isnt good as people can make errors or lie about their start times.

I am trying to add a list of inventory items to a project quickly, to estimate cost, is there an easy way to upload an excel sheet with all the inventory items & quantities?
I need to add multiple items like over 60 each with their own quantity... Can I upload a list? Instead of individual listing?

Reporting- Contact Cash Activity Report to show all contacts
Contact Cash Activity Report that shows all contacts and can show both individual transactions or a summary (total).
It would be more efficient than having to select each contact individually
