Invoicing - Add customer VAT Number when creating invoiceUnder the 'New Invoice' creation page, it would be great to add a contact's VAT number as you are creating the contact, on the invoice page. Just add one line under the address. Then one would not have to navigate to the Contacts page to add the VAT number 5 votes

Find and Recode - Sort on Find and Recode by descriptionbeing able to sort by description on find and recode 141 votesHi everyone, we're grateful for your feedback on improving Find and Recode, and recognise how sorting by description could enhance your ability to review and recode transactions. While not a direct solution, you could filter by Contact and then in the browser Ctrl + F to search highlight keywords in descriptions and find the right transactions. We know it's not perfect, but might help narrow things down. To be transparent and provide some clarity here, there are no planned changes to change the functionality within Find & recode right now. We will share if our position around this changes and there are any updates for you all here.

Contacts - Show Payment Terms by ContactRight now, we see average days we pay or receive payment. It would be good if we can have another row that shows us the payment terms we have with the contact so we can benchmark against performance that way. The data is already in Xero, just need to show it. 14 votes

Reports - Fix report header formatting for reports longer than 1 pageWhen a report runs over a single page, the header formatting does not pull through to pages 2 forward. It pulls through the report name in small writing at the top of the page and leaves a large spacing at the top of page, as the attached screenshot shows. This product idea is to fix this bug so that either the report name header formatting pulls through to all pages within the report (preferable), or at least the empty space is removed. For example with the accounting policies section of the accounts, we would want the data shown in the 'Accounting Policies 2' screenshot showing at the top of each page namely - name of report, client name and financial year. I have redacted the client name for confidentiality. When a report runs over a single page, the header formatting does not pull through to pages 2 forward. Xero Projects - Custom report builderAbility to be able to create your own custom project report in Projects. For example being able to create a report using the fields in both the Project Details report and the Project Financials report. Also the ability to ability to amend the current reports in the format you want and then to save them to customs reports as you can do with other reporting. 56 votes

VAT Return - Exclude adjusted rounding VAT transactions of 0.01On VAT returns, there are "ADJUSTED" columns. This is a good idea as it can highlight mistakes, but it also picks up any auto-rounding error created by Xero itself, always of £0.01. This is annoying as it means each of these "Adjusted" entries needs to be checked.
My proposal is to not include any rounding errors of £0.01
It will save a lot of time having to go through every "adjusted" item, as it would whittle them down to only ones with real error.4 votes

Timesheet detail report - Include timesheet notesWhen clients use Xero Me they use the notes section on the timesheet to communicate and for some staff advise their managers what tasks they have completed on that day. Xero help confirmed today these notes are no longer visible once the timesheet is approved meaning we have lost visibility of this information. My client is very unhappy that I did not advise them of this issue, unfortunately as this is a new way of completing the timesheets I wasn't aware this was going to happen, previously my clients were sending me a spreadsheet each fortnight and I was manually entering the times. Could we please have the option to print the timesheet detail report to include these notes. Project Financial Report - include Account CodeInclude account code as a field on all Project Reports to filter/summarise/group by. Currently, all 'expenses' are clumped together under one project item type. To manage a project properly, it is important to see the costs for individual elements such as 'labour' 'materials' 'travel expenses' sub-contractor costs' etc (or however account codes are set for the business' In the Construction Industry especially we always refer to other projects when pricing up for similar ones, and in Xero there is no way to see this breakdown. Invoices - Automatically send invoice reminders for all overdue invoicesSeems a lapse in the system that you cannot send invoice reminders for over 60 days + for outstanding invoices
We have clients that still owe us money after 60 days and we have to manually review and resend, rather than the system just picking up that any invoice is outstanding / overdue and sending a reminder automatically
Would be nice if the system could just send an invoice reminder to any overdue invoice.15 votes

Invoices - invoice a percentage of a taskHaving the ability to invoice a percentage of each task in a project.
Our company invoices as a job progresses e.g 20% of one task is completed the first month, and then 50% has been completed the following month.
At this stage, I am only able to apply a 'discount' to alter the amount invoiced (while still maintaining the full contract amount on the invoice as a reference to clients). When doing this, it also marks that task as invoiced and I am unable to further invoice. The only alternative to this, is invoicing for a project amount and still applying the discount.
This is a very convoluted way to invoice and causes messy reporting.
Is this something we cna look at adopting in XERO projects?Having the ability to invoice a percentage of each task in a project.

Fixed Assets | General Pool Write OffUnder current simplified depreciation rules, small businesses deduct the balance of the small business pool at the end of the income year if the balance at that time (before applying the depreciation deductions) is less than the instant asset write-off threshold. Currently Xero's pool does not apply this rule & continues depreciating at 30%. It would be great to have a product update so the correct application of current tax rules applys to the pooling system in Xero. 132 votesAppreciate the traction this idea's gained - Thanks for your support, everyone. Our Fixed Asset product team are working on upgrades to Fixed Assets platform and updating technology - Read more on this broader work on Xero Central We understand how having an automated control to recognise and apply a write-off for general pooled assets where the balance is beneath the threshold would be useful, this is not in our roadmap right now. That said, they have a close eye on ideas for Fixed Assets for when the time's right - we'll share any change on the idea, here.

Projects - Ability to add a budget that integrates with the overall budget- Create a budget for each project and then integrate the budgets to the company's overall budget.
- Provide variance report for each project
- Provide variance report for all the projects together
54 votesUnderstand you'd like to level up to the Overall budget in an org, Sherry - Just in case you hadn't come across you may find the estimates within a Project useful for now. We'll track the interest of this here.

UK Payroll - Change payroll journal dateThe Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated. Every month all of our P&L figures are wrong because of this. Nobody wants to have to waste time doing loads of manual journals every month, which have the potential for mistakes, when Xero has created a system which is supposed to automate this process. Others have raised it but Xero never replied, see link at the bottom below. The solution is: Create "Payroll Journal Date" as a configurable field in payroll settings, so that organisations can choose this for themselves. It should default to the period end date for that payroll, because as long as it's paid by the 5th of the month, it is fine from a tax perspective. OR if creating a new field is too much effort, simply change the journal date to always be the period end date, not the payment date. Probably Payroll was developed to create journals on the payment date because nobody had considered hourly paid industries - most salaried jobs pay within the month. But for many industries this is impossible, so this should be standard functionality and we should not be left with messed up P&L. https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D53m00007ptAKyCAM/can-i-change-the-date-of-the-payroll-journal The Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated.
