Run IAS without GST accounting method
Currently there’s no functionality in Xero to run an IAS without the GST Accounting Method set up.
Suggest a feature request that allows you to prepare the activity statement regardless of the entity being registered for GST or not.2 votes -
Bills/Invoices - Notes preview
The ability to preview notes added against a bill/invoice from the summary screens, rather than having to open each record to view them. For example a notes icon next to the existing document one, which would display the note when clicked.

Invoicing - Ability for customers to update their email addresses
It's not possible for customers to update their own email address eg if we send an invoice or statement to an old email address and they want to change it. Would be good if customer could update it and we just verify it. Or some kind of automated form they get to speed updating it.

Expenses Report - Ability to view unapproved expense claims
Xero Expenses - Currently there is no report to get information on expense claims needs approving. (by staff member, period etc) It would be useful to have a report which can be filtered rather then logging in to screen and view all. Thanks!

US - W8 Requests for 1042 reporting
Dear Community,
as we now have the W9 Request Feature with the 1099 Reporting, I would please request the same for the W8 Series for the 1042 Reporting. I know the forms are much more complex, but I experience that clients, even though reminded about the importance of gathering the W8s. Many completely disregard the Withholding requirement w/o the form.
Please let me know what you think.
Regards,
Sebastian

Xero: Support for SAF-T and SIE files
SIE files and SAF-T files are international standards for electronic exchange of accounting data and should, as soon as possible, be included in Xero as a digital application.
More information about SAF-T (Standard Audit File - Tax Financial):

AU Payroll - Option to enter withholding tax variation as an additional percentage
The witholding variation should be on top of the existing PAYG calculation not overrides it, as it currently does. If an employee completes a MyGov employee Tax Form and notes they want an additional % amount variation withheld - it should be on top of their existing PAYG tax, not instead of it. There is no other option to put in a percentage amount in XERO.
Or allow the upward variation amount to be a percentage amount - not just a fixed amount.
The screenshot attached shows this employee should be paying tax on the full amount (no threshold claimed) but the pay run only calculated a total of 10% tax.

UK Payroll - Allocate Employers NIC cost to more than one account
A number of my client are service businesses and as such all of the payroll costs should be posted either to a Cost of Sale account for Operational staff or Overhead for support staff. I can achieve this for all costs except for Employer NIC cost, which has to be manually moved. It would be beneficial if the NIC could go to an NIC GL dependent upon the type of basic pay chosen.

UK Payroll - Search bar for finding employees in a pay run
I think it would be really helpful to put a search bar for employees in a pay run. It's really time consuming to scroll down list of employees especially if you have lots of them. It's under employee dropdown. Thanks!

Chart of Accounts: Ability to merge accounts
I would like to be able to merge accounts (of the same type, ie expenses) to one account when there was two or more of the same account created.
Example: Say you've converted from another accounting system, and there were sub-accounts that are all the same account - that you want to merge into one account. To be able to merge the accounts - without doing a Find and recode.
Or, the client opened another expense account for something, and one already existed... to be able to merge the two would be a quicker solution instead of find and recode.
49 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate the interest in this idea we want to be upfront that there are no plans for adding the ability to merge accounts within the Chart of Accounts right now.
Though noted in the original idea here I wanted to confirm that currently if you have the advisor role in the organisation there is the Find & Recode feature that with careful use could enable you to find and recode all transactions from one account to another so you can move all the transactions into one account before archiving or deleting the accounts you don't need.
Alternatively, while it won't suit all use cases in relation to reporting - In financial reports, where you have multiple related accounts you could edit the layout to group these accounts.
We'll continue to gauge the interest in this idea, and if there is any change we'll share with you all through the idea, here.

UK Payroll - Seperate PAYE within Payroll to support Tronc
In UK hospitality, Tronc (tips) systems require a different PAYE to your normal payroll. It would be very useful if Xero could accommodate more than one Payroll, including PAYE reference and employees could have a job with each.
A pay run should be able to be created with each PAYE separately, and each would have its own coding to the balance sheet. e.g. Net Wages, and Net Wages Tronc are different numbers in COA.
As things stand I've had to create a second company, paying for a payroll which does not integrate into our main company in any way so we don't benefit from any journals or banking integrations.

Profit & Loss report - Show columns for all tracking options (incl. ones with nil balances)
For the new format of the Profit and loss report, only show the tracking categories that actually have a balance. Therefore do not show with nil balance.
Currently have to adjust the report to remove the relevant columns which is time & $.The old version did this automatically!

Contacts - Add fields for Primary/Secondary/Other contacts
PRIMARY & SECONDARY/OTHER CONTACTS
Thanks Grace - it would be great rather than editing and reentering information if there was a field titled "Primary Contact" and Secondary Contact for eg where we could just update that field using a drop-down box as opposed to re-entering customer information. It would definitely save a lot of time. Maybe something to add in the future?
PROCESS
I wanted to confirm that if I follow your instructions where I have 2 parties for eg Primary Contact = Grace Wife and other contact = Tom = Grace's Husband. If I wanted to make Tom = Grace's Husband, the primary contact - ie swap them around I would need to:1) Edit Grace and insert her husband's contact details ie Tom's info from scratch
2) Add Grace and her details as another/supplementary contact from scratch
3) Delete Tom's details under other contacts so he won't receive invoices twice. Is this process correct?
EXISTING INVOICES
Also, I wanted to check that the changes would be reflected in existing draft invoices for the clients or would I need to re-set all these up so that they were address to Tom as the new Primary contact? Thanks Suzanne

Invoice Settings - Ability to create multiple numbering sequences
If a business uses more than one branding theme for their sales documents, a feature to apply a separate automatic numbering sequence to each one would be useful.

Report Templates | Copy - Client to practice, or client to client
There are a number of Report Templates available in the Client Reports which once adapted would be good to copy either from one client to another or better still from a Client to the Practice Reports, making them available for all clients and they could then be included in Monthly Management Reports.
Currently you can only copy reports within a client or within the Practice Reports and the facility is not available to copy across from one to another
62 votesHi team, back again to share progress on the idea from my lat update. As mentioned our product team are now in the process of developing a way to make reports that've been customised within a clients org available to include in Adviser packs.
I'll keep you in the loop of this feature and when you can start making use of it, here!

Tax Component Calculation - Xero should be calculating the sum of each tax component rounded for each line item.
Xero calculates tax per line based on the total tax value of all components then rounds this figure. It is later split between tax components.
Xero should be calculating the sum of each tax component rounded for each line item.
Image attached shows how Xero calculates a different value for two equal tax components due to this simplistic method it is using to calculate tax. What is the point in having the ability to set multiple tax components if this is not taken into consideration when calculating the total tax value per item.
2 tax rates, both set at 9% but giving me differing values on the invoice, making this an invalid invoice.

AU Payroll - View Pay Run per Employee
It would be great if there is a way to quickly view all the pay runs for a specific employee, without the need to go through 'Pay employees' under the 'Payroll' section and opening every pay run individually.
