ability to edit including remove header from invoice cover note
The ability to edit including remove header from invoice cover note (that is company name, invoice amount, due date and invoice number).
2 votesHi Jacqui, when you refer to the Invoice Cover note would this be the email that is sent to the customer or within the attached invoice (online or PDF). If the latter you can use Invoice templates to customise the look of an invoice to your customer.

QR Code recognition of scanned receipts and invoices in Hubdoc
For scanned receipts containing a QR code, it would be very useful if the system could automatically read the code and populate it into a "Notes" field or the Invoice Reference field. This would streamline data entry and reduce manual work.
1 voteHi Sebastian, so just checking you're idea here are you saying you'd like this data to be entered within Reference field of the invoice that's created when you publish a document from Hubdoc to Xero?

New invoicing - Use persons name from Contact record (rather than contact name)
We would like to see customers contact person's name appearing on the invoice we send. One customer can have different people/contacts for different projects/invoices. Currently we can only pull out the PRIMARY contact's name to the invoice, which means if we would like to add a different name, we have to REMERMBER to edit customer's primary contact to a different person. It is very time consuming and easy to forget too.
Is there any ways we could simply add a contact person against each invoice instead of against each customer? It could be any extra fields we can use, even…8 votes -
Invoice Reminders: Ability to select that reminders only go to original recipient/s
Here's a copy of my note to Xero Support & their response below:
Hi,
I prefer to check 'include in emails' for all contacts in an organisation, as the quote & invoice recipient/s often vary & I find it simpler to delete unnecessary recipients from the list on each quote or invoice than to add them. I've only just accidentally realised (after years of use) that invoice reminders go out to every email address in an organisation that is 'included in emails' & not just the email recipient/s of the original invoice - I've been unintentionally sending reminders to multiple…7 votes -
UK Payroll - Timesheets for employees on Annual Salary
Overtime needs to be recorded on Timesheets and be included in pay runs for employees on a fixed annual salary.
We've been using Xero for 5+ years. It's brilliant in so many ways, and this basic functionality is missing, or rather, I expect is poorly coded.
We have a number of employees on a fixed, 5 day per week, annual salary, which is divided by 12 to generate their pay every month. However, it's not uncommon for them to work overtime: additional hours here and there and sometimes whole extra days.
Currently, the flaw (I really think this is a…

Unable to add credit note to invoice in new system - it doesn't add name
Unable to add credit note to an existing invoice in the new system.
You can choose from the click down box - Create and Apply credit -
- the next screen is the credit note with all the details from the invoice, But .. it doesn't add the name of the company/person to credit note
- when you click on approve it can't save it as there is no name.
- I can't see where you can add the name. You have to create a new credit note, and manually transfer the details over from the invoice to the new…
2 votesThis is unusual, Michelle. Thanks for the screenshots.
While you could try clearing your browsers cache and cookies as a start, I'd recommend touching base with our team of specialists at Xero Support to dig into this. They have tools that we don't have here in community to be able to get better insight and investigate what's going on here.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
Xero currently fails the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This means that people with accessibility needs are locked out of being able to use Xero effectively.
https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/quickref/
A quick scroll through shows that Xero fails a number of criteria, such as:
- 2.1 Keyboard Accessible (for example, on the new bills page, tabbing through the page includes tabbing through the search bar, and when you tab through the date fields this causes today's date to be included as a filter, which cannot be immediately undone using the keyboard without tabbing through to another field)
- 2.4.7 Focus visible (if you…4 votes -
Email to Bill - Auto attach copy of source email as a file when creating bill
When a client emails bills into Xero files, they often include a note saying APPROVED or POST TO DIRECT COSTS and even- PLEASE PAY TOMORROW. At the moment I have to open the email, take a copy, email it back into Xero files and then attach that to the bill along with the original bill. Can a copy of the email be automatically attached to the bill when it is processed from files? It would save a lot of time.

Budget manager - Archive tracking budget if tracking is archived
Budget Manager - Ability to Archive old budgets that relate to archived tracking categories.
At present the budgets still appear within budget manager even though linked to an archived tracking category. It would be great that when you archive a tracking category that the budget is archived along with it or just the ability to archive old budgets in budget manager. At present you can only delete so you lose that history.1 vote -
New invoicing - Warning when 'Invoice was unable to be sent'
Recently half of the emails I thought I had sent were 'unable to be sent'. I had no idea until I became worried why my usually reliable clients had not paid me on time. After looking I saw this message on the 'History' trail.
My suggestion is that where an error occurs like this there is a significant error message signal e.g. a box comes up or things are highlighted in red and bold.
Cashflow is the lifeblood of any business and if the system is unable to send an invoice this could have serious ramifications for Xero…

Credit note - Explanation
Credit note - please do not change any unit price after a partial credit has been raised
For example, we have invoiced (tax exclusive)

2/…1 voteHi Cargo Plus, it's a bit hard to confirm the scenario you've noted here - although do appreciate the detail you've given.
I'd recommend coming into Xero Support by raising a case through Xero Central where one of our specialists can dig into the detail to help explain and provide understanding of the best way to handle these situations with your clients. -
Adviser year-end template automation
Adviser year-end account templates - it would be great if when allocating account codes to categories in the P&L/BS, they also updated in automatically in the cash flow statements and the notes 1-4.
This would both save time and also remove the chance of human error - there is always the possibility of accidentally allocating differently.

AU Payroll - Support for prorated salary
I had a situation recently where we increased an employees salary but they wanted to reduce their working hours by 80%. The salary is based on 1 FTE. There is no way to actually do this in Xero Payroll. If I put the FTE salary in (to recognise the actual approved salary increase) and set working hours to 8 hours a day 4 days per week the 1 FTE salary is paid out in full over the year. But it should only be 80% of that. So I had to enter 80% of FTE and reduce the actual work hours…

Report templates - Annual accounts templates up to do date and in line with legislation
The Trust - Annual Accounts Xero SPFR template for trusts > Notes to the Financial Statements > 1. Reporting Entity states "Legal or Trading Name is a trust established by a trust deed dated [insert field: trust deed date], and subject to the Trustees Act 1956." this is incorrect as the Trusts Act 2019 passed on 30 July 2019 has replaced the Trustee Act 1956. Xero have advised "While the team is aware the templates may need updating given current focus being on the expiration of old reports they do not have the capacity to give it a priority at…
2 votesHi team, templates have now been updated to refer to the new legislation. Thanks for your contribution and sharing in product ideas, here.

New invoicing | Send - show amount owed rather than invoice total
When emailing a sales invoice which has a credit note applied, the basic email template text should quote the amount owed MINUS the amount of the credit note. The email is incorrect with regard to the amount owed, and customers often erroneously overpay.

Credit Note - Option to 'Approve and email'
Currently when you create and apply a credit note to a sales invoice, as soon as you hit approve it'll take you back to the invoice, so I then have to click back into the credit note.
I'd like to have a dropdown option to approve & email the credit note to the customer if possible.1 vote -
Batch Payments - Export file in a Santander-compatible format
The repsonse to my support case was to be told to post the bug here... seems a weird request, but sure...
"The best way to get our product team to consider this would be to create a new product Idea on this, which is submitted to our product team who then go ahead and make changed based in priority."The santander batch file does not follow the santander format. In the past Santander used to accept the file anyway but they have now started rejecting it.
Bills > Make Payment > Pay from (santander), Method = Create Payment File

Allocate invoices against overpayments or credits
At present, the only way to allocate an overpayment or a credit note against an invoice is to open the overpayment or credit, and click on "allocate payment" which brings up a list of invoices. If there are a large number of small credits, this can be very time consuming. It would be helpful to add an "allocate overpayment or credit" option to the invoice payment drop down, so that you could open an invoice, and allocate the required credits or overpayments against it at once.
5 votesHi Heather, if there is unallocated credit in your organisation for a contact, you'll be prompted if you'd like to allocate this next time you raise an invoice for them.
This prompt appears for an overpayment, prepayment or credit note - See detail in our help here, and I've attached an pic of what the prompt should look like in new invoicing 🙂

Reporting - Restrict user access to the Edit Layout button in financial statements
We have spent a significant amount of time creating our financial statement templates using the report codes to ensure consistency and quality. Using Edit Layout can cause significant issues, including notes not matching the numbers in the balance sheet. As a result, we require the ability to remove access to the Edit Layout function for selected users.
This is a significant quality and risk issue.1 vote -
Reporting - Supplier Transaction & Payment Report
It would be really useful to view supplier invoices and payments on the same report like a Supplier Ledger. Currently I need to view the Expenses by Contact report for invoice history and then go into Bank Account Transactions and search for payments for a particular supplier, and there seems to be no option to print or export out once you search. In other systems this is a standard report and is very handy when checking inter-company transaction history across a group of related entities. Does anyone have a better workaround?
1 voteTotally appreciate continued interest in being able to see more in your supplier interactions. Now in Oct 2021, we've been continuing to improve & evolve Xero reports.
Along with the series of Contact Transactions reports, there are our Payable Invoice reports, and a fresh Income & Expenses report which can easily be run for just Expenses.
You'll also find the Account Transactions report can be filtered by 'Description' containing contact name, and a filter for 'Source' so you can select the specific transaction types you'd like to view data for.
