  1. A note of outstanding, unreconciled statement lines before completing a VAT return.

    Currently you click review and can see the VAT return; however, it would be useful to have a box that would flag if there any unreconciled transactions within the VAT period.

    This would help to ensure no transactions are missed when completing a VAT return.

  3. Bill pdf – to have a print function to print a Payment Voucher for Bill created via a template which user can customize and must contain bank payment details
    of supplier which is input in the Notes under supplier contact (see 1a above). This is to allow us to send the payment voucher manually to boss for boss to do the manual payment to supplier.

When bringing a company on board, and you need past invoice history of the invoices outstanding, it would be far quicker to type them into the journal than to have to capture the document individually. it would be better to be able to do a journal for the AR and AP once you have captured the company. time does matter, and this method which is currently there is very time-consuming. Other accounting packages have this function and it would be nice to see it being done here for the Advisors.

    Appreciate ease when coming across from another software. Conversion balances and the way Xero works is quite critical to how outstanding invoices and bills are entered.

    Xero makes sure your accounts receivable and payable are in balance to the transactions that have been entered.

    While we will track the interest around this here I do want to be upfront that we don't have any plans to change the way in which these are entered.

  5. Currently after we assigned billable expenses to a customer and subsequently when we create a new invoice with the billable expenses, noted that the tracking category named Projects as well as account code are not auto-fill. We need to fill in manually which is time-consuming, imagine there are 100 items in the invoice.

    It will be very helpful and save time if the account and project code will be auto-fill in the invoice. We really appreciate your support and looking forward this can be implemented. Thank you!

  6. Add the ability to Xero / Xero Me for multiple time sheet entries per day.
    For staff who work across multiple sites having the ability to add multiple time entries per day and either select a client to associate those entries against, or add a note for each time sheet entry would be fantastic.
    Ultimately you would allow up to 6 time entries per day.

    Example

    Monday
    Time Entry1= 8:00 - 11:30am (note= site 1)
    Time Entry2= 12:00 - 3:30pm (note= site 2)
    Time Entry3= 3:30pm - 5:00pm (note = site 3)

    Doing this would improve the functionality and uptake…

  7. For scanned receipts containing a QR code, it would be very useful if the system could automatically read the code and populate it into a "Notes" field or the Invoice Reference field. This would streamline data entry and reduce manual work.

  10. Hi all!

    I'm a one man band IT business, and I've just started being put on retainer by a company which is great, however I'm finding accounting for the retainer to be a bit burdensome.

    Currently, my plan is it add the retainer's ammount as a credit note at the beginning of the month, and then somehow nullify any remaining credit at the end. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a way of managing retainers separately and more efficiently from credit?

    Or even just having the option to add an expiry date to a credit…

    Great to hear how you're currently using Xero with Credit Notes to manage this process for yourself, Joseph. I've slightly amended your idea for being able to set an expiry for a credit note as it's quite unlikely that we'll look to create a completely new feature for managing retainers. 

    Having a quick look at some of the other ideas raised in community, it looks like some people maybe using SimPro as a means to manage these, alternatively you could explore apps in the ecosystem that may meet your needs. 🙂

  11. Unable to add credit note to an existing invoice in the new system.

    You can choose from the click down box - Create and Apply credit -
    - the next screen is the credit note with all the details from the invoice, But .. it doesn't add the name of the company/person to credit note
    - when you click on approve it can't save it as there is no name.
    - I can't see where you can add the name.

  12. I note there are repeating (aka recurring) invoices and bills.
    I would like repeating quotes as well because every year, we issue a quote to some of our clients for maintenance agreements or hosting agreements. It is basically the same quote every year except that the amounts are adjusted for CPI

  13. We would like to see customers contact person's name appearing on the invoice we send. One customer can have different people/contacts for different projects/invoices. Currently we can only pull out the PRIMARY contact's name to the invoice, which means if we would like to add a different name, we have to REMERMBER to edit customer's primary contact to a different person. It is very time consuming and easy to forget too.

  14. It would be great to have a status on quotes for when you have chased a quote. We can add a date of this and details of what has happened in notes, however if it could show as chased on the first screen under status, this would make more user friendly.

  15. Xero currently fails the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This means that people with accessibility needs are locked out of being able to use Xero effectively.

  17. Budget Manager - Ability to Archive old budgets that relate to archived tracking categories.
    At present the budgets still appear within budget manager even though linked to an archived tracking category. It would be great that when you archive a tracking category that the budget is archived along with it or just the ability to archive old budgets in budget manager. At present you can only delete so you lose that history.

  18. When a client emails bills into Xero files, they often include a note saying APPROVED or POST TO DIRECT COSTS and even- PLEASE PAY TOMORROW. At the moment I have to open the email, take a copy, email it back into Xero files and then attach that to the bill along with the original bill. Can a copy of the email be automatically attached to the bill when it is processed from files? It would save a lot of time.

  19. Overtime needs to be recorded on Timesheets and be included in pay runs for employees on a fixed annual salary.

    We've been using Xero for 5+ years. It's brilliant in so many ways, and this basic functionality is missing, or rather, I expect is poorly coded.

    We have a number of employees on a fixed, 5 day per week, annual salary, which is divided by 12 to generate their pay every month. However, it's not uncommon for them to work overtime: additional hours here and there and sometimes whole extra days.

  20. I had a situation recently where we increased an employees salary but they wanted to reduce their working hours by 80%. The salary is based on 1 FTE. There is no way to actually do this in Xero Payroll. If I put the FTE salary in (to recognise the actual approved salary increase) and set working hours to 8 hours a day 4 days per week the 1 FTE salary is paid out in full over the year. But it should only be 80% of that. So I had to enter 80% of FTE and reduce the actual work hours…
