NZ Payroll - Support for voluntary employer Kiwisaver contributions
With the current financial climate, employees are suspending their KiwiSaver contributions. The Inland Revenue (IR) allows the Employer to continue with the company's contribution voluntarily.
At this stage, it is not 'officially' possible for the employer to contribute to KiwiSaver if the employee is on a Savings Suspension in Xero. The employee is on a Savings suspension, then the company cannot contribute either. Also, when on a savings suspension Xero requires an expiry date, IR does not always provide a date; instead, advising us when to recommence the KiwiSaver.
If the employee's KiwiSaver is kept active their contribution cannot be changed to 0%
The only workaround is adding a new pay type for Superannuation to the Pay Template, with a % of Taxable Earnings for the Calculation Type. However, when the Payroll is processed this will not get automatically disclosed to IR, therefore it has to be updated manually with IR with each time.
I suggest adding another choice in the Contribution Option; ‘Employer only contributions’. This option will lock the employee contributions fields at 0% and keep the employer fields active.

Short-Term Cash Flow - Split payments on Bills
Hi
Client is wondering whether there is a way to split bills in the cash flow prediction to show half the bill being paid on this day and the remainder on another day. Currently you can tell it that we estimate to pay the bill in full on this day but can't see an option to split the bill.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Dashboard - Add a quarter to date (QTD) column to the Accounts Watchlist
Please can a QTD column be added on the Accounts Watchlist rather than This Month? A quarterly client is requesting this as they view the Dashboard regularly and this would be extremely useful to them.

Repeating Invoices - Widen the display Column
In Repeating Transactions, you have a column width for Reference which is fairly decent, but then the data in that is truncated to the extreme. It takes up less than half the column width??????
Has it not occurred to your programmers to use the full width of the column and only suffix with ... if it still proves too small to display all the data22 votes -
Invoice - Ability to move "Pay Now" button to custom part of email body
Invoice - Ability to move "Pay Now" button to custom part of email body.
Currently as first part of email, "PAY NOW £***" is displayed in the message preview in quite a confronting manner. Ability to move it to any part of the email body would make our organisation seem friendlier.

Xero Expenses - Create receipt from body of email
I would like to be able to forward receipts I have received via email which are NOT attachments, but are inline / html receipts, and have Xero read them, like Expensify can.
I waste so much time receiving emailed receipts (BPME for example) which I then have to save as a PDF and forward / upload.
15 votesHi James, to clarify would this be when using Xero Expenses app to submit receipts or when emailing bills to your organisation? Thanks

User Permissions | Projects - Read only access to Bills & Invoices of a project
We have assigned users to specific projects but in order for them to see the invoices and bills against this project the settings must be changed so that they can access all bills, invoices and contacts to amend.
I would like a feature so that someone assigned to the project can have read only access to the invoices and bills ONLY associated with this project. Allowing them to still run reports and view profitability on their project but they cannot amend invoices and bills or cannot access others that are not their projects.

Invoicing - partially copy invoice
Hi Community, we need to have the option to copy part of the invoice when we are doing it, and then, copy that on the same invoice we are working, many times we need to invoice the same things to the same client but separate it by levels or offices into the same invoice, we can save a lot of time with this function when we are writing a big invoice.

Projects - Keep timer on all pages
Hi - could the Timer appear on other Xero pages, not just the Projects page? So when the timer is started, it stays on the screen when we move between Dashboard, Business, Accounting etc. That would be great. Thanks.

User role - Permission to create Spend or Receive monies
The Receive Money function should be made available to users who do nothing else except literally receive money - ie sales people. This is especially relevant in small countries where cash is king and non electronic transactions are still in majority. I have one user who only needs to receive cash but I can't give them that function without making them an Adviser.

Activity Statements - Ability to generate comparatives for BAS and IAS
Are you able to generate comparatives button on the BAS's and IAS's for the previous period and the same period last year, like there is for tax returns? This would be a handy tool to use when reviewing.

Account Transactions report - Add Transaction number
I exported the Detailed Account Transaction Report. Additional column I need is the transaction number so I could group or filter the specific transaction/s that I want to conduct further analysis.
Thank you.
6 votesJust to check, when you say Transaction number would this be the journal ID or the transactions reference number, Archie?

Contact - Add field for payment terms (e.g cash on delivery, late payer)
I want to be able to flag COD clients, so the sales team know to collect payment at the point of sale.
8 votesHi Sharon, recently we released a new feature in Contacts that will enable you to add a note for a contact that can be visible from a contacts record - Right hand panel meaning you could add any detail about contacts that you receive payment from at the time goods & services are supplied in this field.
Is this enough to solve your needs here? 🙂

Custom Report - Ability to Hide/Unhide Columns
Currently we create a budget for each tracking category (department).
I have created a custom report which includes the budget for each category. I then use the formula function to sum the budgets together.
I only want to see the formula column in the report outputted. (I realise that columns can be hidden when data is exported to Excel)
I understand that there is not a way to show a formula column without all the individual budget columns.
Enhancement suggestion: include a radio button for each column to hide/reveal that column in the report

NZ Payroll - Automatically calculate four-weekly ordinary hours
At the moment Xero Payroll calculates OWE by using information from the pay template only. Xero Payroll also recommends use of minimum hours as best practice, and allowing the hourly rate to lift if the average is higher than minimum hours. Works well. However, many employees have minimum hours and work more hours regularly, but they don't always work the same number, they might have periods of more work, and other periods of less. This means they don't actually have Standard Hours, and according to the legislation, OWE should be calculated from a 4 week average, not just taking "Standard Hours". By Xero Payroll not having the ability to look at a 4 week average, it is quite conceivable that an employee will not be paid out Annual Leave correctly. This would happen if the employee has worked a high number of hours in the most recent 4 weeks before taking AL, but the 52 week average is lower, and the standard hours are only set to minimum. There is currently no warning I can find about this, and even if there was a warning it would mean the payroll officer having to check work patterns every time AL is taken, and manually calculating if the 4 week average is higher than Standard Hours, or 52 week average. This is clearly not compliant with NZ legislation. I suggest there should be an option to tick a box where Standard Hours are not in fact standard - to request that Xero compares the standard template hours to 4 week average earnings. Not for all employees as some do have recognised Standard Hours.

Xero Files - Ability to restore deleted files
A 'Deleted' folder in Files that captures deleted files.
Once I have uploaded a receipt to the files folder, I always dispose of the original.
If you accidentally attach it too, and then delete it from the transaction, it is gone forever. You have no ability to reload it from the files folder.
The original uploaded file is gone, so you have to source another copy of the receipt from the supplier.
Surely this deleted uploaded file has gone somewhere?
Can we have it directed to a folder?

Files - Automatic transaction creation for uploaded files
After uploading or emailing files to Xero, have it perform some sort of OCR and create a transaction, or spend money or something. It's almost like opening a beer and not drinking it. Please Xero at least 'take a sip'. Just left MYOB ofter 10 years, this is automatic in MYOB! I think the idea here is to make the computers do more work and we do less......right?
2 votesHi Scott, returning to your idea here I wanted to share a few different options depending on your needs that could help. As you may be aware we have Xero Expenses that has a capture element that will read your receipts that are uploaded to transcribe into the expense claim receipt, alternatively there is the ability to email to bills to capture and create a draft bill in your organisation, and we also have a new feature in bills that'll be rolled out to everyone soon where you can upload a file directly from your device to create a draft bill using the detail of your upload.
