Reporting - Ability to view transactions including date of transactions & date created
Transactions posted after a period end affecting prior periods
Lock dates had not been set and as a result, there has been a few entries in to the last financial year.
How can I locate these entries?I have tried a transaction report, but there are no parameters that I could enter.
Ideally.Example -
Our year end is 31st August.
I would like a report that looks for transactions entered between dates 1/4/22 - 21/9/22 that have a transaction date up to 31.8.21 (last year end)In other accounting systems, you could take a unique reference number (URN) at the month end and show transactions posted after this URN but up to a certain date.

12 votesHi Kellie, you might find History & notes useful for getting the insight you're after here.
Though it's not possible to filter by the transaction date - You can set a date range like you've mentioned to view activity that has occurred post your orgs year end and ability to filter by Item types so you just view the item types you're interested in.
Keen to hear if this helps.

Xero Me - Notifying employees that they have a new payslip uploaded in Xero Me
I feel it would be very useful that once a payroll is processed and the system uploads payslips into Xero Me that the employees either get an email from the system or the associated app notifies the employee that there is a new payslip available to view.
I understand that Xero can securely email payslips, but I think that it would be useful for Xero had the ability to be able to automatically notify employees of uploads into Xero Me

Profit & Loss Reports - Change variance column for costs
The variance columns in the current P&L reports don't make sense - increased costs show as positive variances, despite the red arrow. The formula is fine for revenue and profit, but needs to be the other way round for costs. Is it possible to have this, or to add a column with different formulae for different sections?
9 votesHi team, to confirm how the Budget Variance report works currently it'll show;
- Green arrows for favourable amounts
- Red arrows for unfavourable amounts
- Increases in the amount from budget will have an upward arrow
- Decreases in amounts from budget will have a downward arrow
We appreciate your feedback here however being open, there are no plans to change the way this logic is applied in the report, or to extend the arrow colouring across the figures/amounts in the report.

Contact | List view - View mobile when no phone number
It would be great if in Blue Xero in the Contacts list the "Mobile number" can be displayed when there is no actual phone number, currently you need to open the contact to see the Mobile Number. a bit frustrating.
8 votesWe've just released a recent improvement to searching contacts where you can now search a contact by any phone, direct dial, mobile or fax number saved in their contact record.
While you won't be able to see a contacts mobile number from the screen, you'll be able to search for a contact by a mobile number that's been saved for them.
We don't have further change planned to add more detail to this screen atm but we'll continue to track the support of the idea here.

Notification - Alert when e-invoice fails
Very very occasionally, sending an e-invoice will fail. When this happens, currently the only way to find out is to follow up with the client about their unpaid invoice, find out they never received it, go into the individual invoice and look at the history. An alert would be very useful.

Invoice Payments: Support for additional GoCardless accounts
Please can we have the functionality to add more than one gocardless account to one organisation? We have a client account where funds are directed to a trust account under one account and then our normal gocardless account and would be great to be able to include both sets of transactions (at the moment we have one linked and the other is updated manually at the end of the month.)

Bank Reconciliation - Show Bank Balance when entering a Spend Money Transaction
When entering a Spend Money Transaction show the Bank Balance

Bills - Copy Repeating Bill
Would love the ability to copy an existing repeating bill instead of having to open another window with all the features that the new repeating bill should have and having to manually add them all.

Expenses Claims Detail Report - Include approver
I would like to be able to run a report on expense claims which shows who has approved them at a glance, like a payable invoice report . At the moment, you have to open each and every claim to see who has approved it.
Thanks,

Global Pay Run: Display employee number on payslip
We allocated a number for each employee and would like to display it in the pay slip. It would be great if xero can allocate a space similar to the existing employee tax number.
4 votesThanks for voting and feeding back through Xero product ideas. You may have heard that we’re making some changes to Global Pay Run that we believe will help our customers manage payroll more effectively;
- From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.
- Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.
With this focus, we want to be upfront that there are no intentions to make improvements to Global Pay Run moving forward, and I'll move any ideas related to this to Not planned.
If you're from a region where we offer dedicated payroll products (AU, NZ and UK) specifically designed for your regions unique requirements, you could explore transitioning to Xero Payroll. On the other hand, there are multiple app partners that integrate with Xero that you can review on our Xero app store. Thanks

Subscription - 24 hour cancellation period
When purchasing a subscription, there should be a 24 hour cancellation period. On many occasions I have purchased subscriptions that were not correct or not necessary. I upgraded a few of my clients to the Early Plan from the Partner Plan as we needed Hubdoc. Then we found out that Cash Coding was not included and was not stated in the plan description. At that point, I was stuck waiting for 30 days before I could correct it.

Bank Reconciliation Find & Match - search for multiple invoices
Find & Match function under Bank Reconciliation only allows to search for individual invoices to then pick invoices one by one. Please introduce the option to enter multiple invoices in the search field using a delimiter to then pick multiple invoices to reconcile. This would improve the reconciliation process materially.

Timesheets AU - Add "Skip" function to timesheets for non-work days
It would be helpful to have a "Skip" timesheet option for part-time staff to indicate that it's a non-work day (rather than assuming they've just forgotten to complete their timesheet). E.g. a checkbox above each day on the weekly timesheet that if checked would grey-out the relevant day. Rough example attached.

Projects | Task - Dropdown list
A drop-down list when adding a Task under a project for an Estimated expense or an Expense. We only see a list when we type something. What if we want to see the items in alphabettical order starting with the 1st item?

Batch Payment | PDF - Print invoices in logical order
When you print a batch payment to PDF it currently prints the invoices in a random order (not by supplier name, not by date, not by amount, not by invoice number, not by Details -- completely random by the looks of it).
It would be great if the invoices on this PDF could be sorted in the following order to make the PDF easier to read:
Supplier Name
Invoice Date
Due Date
Invoice NumberIf you are trying to use this report to check all invoices from a statement have been included, its currently very difficult/waste of time.

Reconciliation - Option for spend money transaction date to default to last entered date
My client uses personal funds for large part of expenses. I have to enter them manually (using Spend Money) and after each entry the screen defaults back to today's date.
Would be useful if Xero defaults to the last entered transaction date, when using Spend Money, instead to today's date.4 votes -
Reporting |Credit Notes - Date allocated
When allocating a credit note to a customer invoice we need to be able to report on this event and no date is stored at the point of allocation.
In the current system you can see credit notes allocated against invoices only when in the documents as a credit note displays similarly to a bank payment. You can to an extent identify credit notes allocated against invoices by running reports against the Accounts Receivable ledger, filtered by source 'credit note allocation' but you cannot filter this in any way to see recent events. The date of the allocation is deemed to be the credit note creation date which isn't reflective of reality. Credit notes are issued to customers but they may be allocated at a much later date to an invoice and to a different invoice than the one expected - this is often the customer's control depending on their remittance information.
Xero should at the very least store the date that the credit note was allocated to an invoice so we can report and review those allocations based on the event date. It is impossible to review these otherwise. For example my team have allocated a credit note today from 3 months ago as the customer has finally confirmed which invoice they will net this off against. But I can't see this anywhere as an event in any reports as it is now buried as a transaction from 3 months ago!

User roles: Restrict access to Invoice Settings
For internal control reasons the 'invoice settings' section should be only accessible for certain access types. Anyone with Xero access (excl read only) can go and adjust the bank account manually entered on the invoices sent to customers.
It would be great to have this locked the same way bank account admin is for supplier payments.
