Reports - Keep negative accounts under the same category on balance sheet
I've noticed when an account gets a negative balance (such as an asset) that the balance sheet moves it to liabilities. I also noticed that, although I put "Other Income" at the end of the account list (with a account number of 7000) it still shows up in the income section. Proper accounting reports show "Other Income" and "Other Expense" at the bottom of the balance sheet. Additionally, if an asset account gets a negative balance for some reason it should NOT be moved to liabilities. Please fix this.
Thank you

Payroll: Set a percentage on an employees bank account
Give the ability to set a percentage (i.e) 50% on an employees bank account when paying across more than one bank.
I have an employee who always splits her pay equally between 2 bank accounts, however she is a commission paid rep and therefore each pay amount is different. So the current function is no use to me- which allows a $$ amount to be set only. This is fine for set salaried employees but not for commissioned sales reps.
MYOB had a function where you could set a percentage on how much went to bank account 1, and therefore…21 votes -

AU Payroll - Add 'Save & Next' button to top of employee pay details screen in Pay Run.
In Xero Payroll, it would greatly improve efficiency if the "Save & Next" button appeared at the top of the employee pay details screen, not just at the bottom.
For businesses with detailed pay setups (multiple earnings lines, deductions, reimbursements, etc.), scrolling to the bottom of every employee’s pay screen just to click "Save & Next" is time consuming and disruptive to workflow.
Adding this button to the top would:
Streamline navigation during pay runs
Reduce unnecessary scrolling
Improve accessibility for users reviewing multiple employee pays in one session
This small UI change would make a big difference…

AU Payroll - Warning for missing employee bank details
A warning or prompt should come up when an employee has no bank details recorded - similar to when an employee's bank account is updated when a payroll is posted.
This can be acknowledged by the user and allow them to move on.
When the ABA is exported - this prompt should come up, every time an ABA without bank details is exported - as the payment could fail and the employee will not be paid.

AU Payroll - Monthly calculation based on hours worked in month
Update the monthly payroll to calculate based on the number of work hours in the month, rather than taking the yearly salary / 12 / number work hours. Given that each month has a different number of work days, the pay rate changes every month and this is a compliance issue.

AU Payroll - Subscription for Contractor's Super Only
I would like a subscription option for a "super only" payroll for 20+ contractors. I do not need all the payroll functions as these are contractors who I pay from an invoice, but I do need to pay their super. There is absolutely no need for me to pay for the top tier payroll subscription, when we only have 2 people actually on payroll, but 20+ people who we need to pay super to.

NZ Payroll: Include TOIL leave in Leave Liability report
Payroll - Leave Liability Report to include Time in Lieu or Time Banked. For Companies that choose to offer Time in Lieu to their employees, this will be extremely helpful for reporting purposes. Also if it was available in Excel would be great. Thanks.

Payroll UK: Import annual leave from planday to xero
The ability to import annual leave from Planday to Xero so you are not creating it twice on both platforms.
1 voteHi Chris, thanks for your idea here. Understand you may have completed the process yourself by now, but incase you have other orgs you're looking to set up and for others that may be looking for the same - We've released new Switching Wizard in Payroll for the UK.
This'll make it easier to transition from your current payroll provider to Xero Payroll, reducing errors and saving you time.
As part of the experience, you'll be able to import a Full Payment Summary(FPS) from your current software provider to Xero Payroll. You can get more understanding of how this works on our website and through our short video.

AU Payroll - Do not update historical payslips when new leave balances are added
We recently had an employee which had a leave type reinstated after a period of over 12 months of it not being used. There was a balance sitting in there for the duration of time that it wasn’t active, and therefore not showing on any payslips that were provided to the employee or filed. We are now in a position that we had to reactive this leave type to be in line with STP requirements and showing leave loading on a separate line. When we reactivated this leave type, ALL payslips for the period of over 12 months…
2 votesHey Amy, I know it's been a little while since you started your idea here. Taking another read through the situation you described, there are a couple of options which depend on whether you need a record of the adjustment.
- If you do need a record of the adjustment you'd want to post an unscheduled pay run to reverse out the leave balance for the pay period in which it should have been paid out.
- In the case you don't need a record, you could simply adjust the opening balance for the leave type within the employee's record.
We have help for both of these processes detailed in this article on Xero Central.

AU Payroll - Allow payroll history to be filtered by activity type
Currently in Payroll History you can filter activity by Type and select 'Employees'.
This is too broad to be able to easily pick up bank account changes. eg for 1 month there are 959 entries over 4 pages (which need to be manually clicked to load).
The entries have the type of 'Employee: Bank Accounts'
Features requested ;
1) Add a 'Subtype' filter for Employee events; of which 'Bank Accounts' should be an option.
2) Add ability to Export the report to PDF from initial screen without having to load all the other items.3 votes -
Payroll - Recognise and adjust pay rate based on Timesheets
Given that there is already a link between Pay Runs and Timesheets, it would be very helpful if the Pay run could recognise what days have time entered on the timesheet then it would recognise if an employee worked on a Public Holiday and then by default record 1.5 times and add the lieu day to alternative holidays.
This is something that my clients miss regularly as they expect Xero Payroll to do this for them.12 votes -
Account Transactions Report - Ability to filter Source as 'Payroll Expense Journal'
When reviewing the 'Account Transactions' report in Xero there is an ability to filter by 'Source' type. However, only the 'Select all' option includes Payroll Expense Journals.
Considering I can filter around every other transaction type, I don't see why Payroll Expense Journals can't be added as a source option?
I know exporting to Excel works as a workaround - but considering every other source type is available adding one more shouldn't be difficult?
5 votesHi team, appreciate recent feedback when we recently merged this idea to this one. Understand that there's a bit of a difference in what's being asked between the two ideas, and we've unmerged to continue to track these ideas separately.
Being open there are no current plans to add a filter for Payroll expense journal to Source, however we will continue to get a sense of the interest in this and let you know if any progress is made, here.

AU Payroll - Prompt to enter Leave loading rates
When ticking the "eligible to receive leave loading" box under taxes, have a pop-up to enter the leave loading rate. A lot of clients tick the box, but are not aware they need to manually enter the rate under leave in the payroll settings as well for it to occur.

AU Payroll - List more than 50 employees for timesheet approval
Our business is growing, and now we employ over 60 employees. Is it possible to have more than 50 employees listed on one page for payroll processing?
It looks like '50' is the maximum of line items in the drop-down menue, and I have to go the the second page in order to approve all employees for the payroll.3 votes -
AU Payroll - Ability to hide Payroll accounts from employees with Standard user permissions
It was bought to my attention after using xero for over 2 years that depending on how you pay your staff using multipayment or individually that when you reconcile if your staff have access to contacts then they will see the payments made.
This is a concern for me that they can see the amounts whether your reconcile as a bulk amount and allocate to them or a generic contact - if you use the cash coding area then xero creates a dummy payee called unknown which again can be seen by your staff with standard access.
They can also…

AU Payroll: Automatically add approved expense claims to pay runs
Currently to reimburse employees for expenses you have to add them manually to each pay run for each employee, it would make sense for expenses that have been added using the expenses function to auto add to payroll each month to reduce work and to allow staff to be reimbursed quicker. this would also make the expenses function more worthwhile for the cost.
This would reduce stress for staff putting on employees as expenses that have been approved will automatically be added and marked as paid.
