  1. Would be great to be able to turn off online payments for specific customers.
    Would also be good to be able to choose which online payment methods we accept or dont accept rather than currently having to take them all or nothing.

  3. It's not possible for customers to update their own email address eg if we send an invoice or statement to an old email address and they want to change it. Would be good if customer could update it and we just verify it. Or some kind of automated form they get to speed updating it.

    Appreciate how enabling your customers to update their own contact information would be helpful and save steps to keep accurate information and interact with your customers.

    We don't have any direct plans around this atm, however we'll continue to track the interest this idea builds through the community and share if there are any updates.

  4. With the new basis period changes coming into effect, some clients may want to change their year-end from 30.09 to 31.03. Currently changing the year-end in Xero will cause previous opening balances to change and most likely mean any working papers produced in Xero will no longer match the accounts.

    It would be a useful tool to have something whereby a previous accounting period end could be locked so a new year-end could be chosen without messing up the old year-end balances.

    Hi team, I can now confirm we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings. 

    Just to recap for anyone new coming across the idea here - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero. 

    • Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings. 
    • The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one, community. We know how important scheduling payslips is for many of you, and we appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain how it could help your workflow.

    We understand being able to set a future send date could make life easier when you’re managing different client paydays, covering for colleagues who are away or avoiding confusion from employees receiving payslips before the money is in their account.

    Right now the workaround is to set a reminder to log in and send payslips on the required day. We know that’s not ideal, and while we don’t have dates to share, we’re committed to improving the payslip experience. This idea is under active consideration and we’ll keep you updated on progress.

  6. We use the search facility when trying to locate a previous invoice from a customer but the search doesn't show a summary of the items ordered (the "description" column) so could you perhaps add the "description" column listing into the search results when the down arrow is pressed that currently only shows the date and payment total. We find we need to go through so many invoices just to find the one which has a certain "product" customer ordered.

  8. Is it possible to change the annual leave or personal leave displayed on the payroll activity details report to be the actually leave dates that the employee has taken. Currently the dates next to the annual leave or personal leave line is the pay date (which for reporting purposes is misleading as the employee didn't have leave on these dates).

  9. Add a "DUE" Column to The new "Customer Invoice Summary" report if it is to replace the "Customer Invoice Report". At the moment the proposed change will remove functionality. We rely on the current Customer Invoice Report to update our cashflow. The proposed "BALANCE" column is not the same as the "DUE" data. "BALANCE" only gives Invoices not paid at end of filtered period rather than what is left to be paid period.
    Alternatively..... DO NOT RETIRE THE CUSTOMER INVOICE REPORT!!!!

  10. On the Gross to Net report, payments before August 2024 have a "posted date" set to the date the report was generated, which is incorrect. See attached example.
    To reduce confusion, either:
    - The Posted Date feature should be backdated so that payments before August 2024 show the correct "posted date"
    - Payments before August 2024 should not state a "posted date" at all.

    Hi team, sorry we have not engaged with this idea before now. I'm pleased to confirm that this idea is already a feature within Xero.

    If a user is in an eInovicing region(AU, NZ or UK) and has registered to receive eInvoices, once you add them as the Contact to your invoice the option to 'Send as an eInvoice' will appear.

    For non-eInvoicing regions the option to send via the Xero network is available and your customer will be able to share their Xero network key with you to send with this option - This option is currently available from the Awaiting Payments list screen, however we're currently developing the ability to send with the Xero Network from within an invoice and you can stay updated on this delivery here.

  13. Summary:
    Allow users to add a dedicated surcharge (e.g. insurance, card fee, handling) that appears as a distinct line below the subtotal on invoices, rather than as a regular line item.
    Current Limitation

    At present, any insurance recovery or surcharge must be entered as a standard line item. This:
    Makes invoices look cluttered when the fee is not tied to specific products or services.
    Can cause confusion for clients, who expect insurance/fees to be displayed separately (similar to how shipping or payment surcharges often appear).
    Requires manual placement and formatting on each invoice, reducing efficiency and consistency.

    Hi Joshua 👋It's really helpful for us to understand having the ability to add a surcharge or insurance line to invoices is a desirable option. We understand not having a dedicated field for surcharges or insurance can make it difficult to clearly communicate these extra costs to your customers. Currently manually adding a line item for the surcharge or using a custom branding theme to include the information are the only options💡Right now, we're not planning to add this as a specific feature, as our current focus is on some other features that will benefit a wider range of our customers, however we will monitor this for votes and comments from other users 📣


  14. Please stop Suppliers Bills from being published in Xero if the bill date is prior to the period lock date!!!!

    I only found out last night that Hubdocs will still publish a supplier bill with a date prior to the Xero lock date, this is crazy and I'm unsure why anyone would want Hubdocs to do this.

    If you could add the option in Hubdocs to stop bills from being published in Xero prior to the lock date that would be awesome as it will ensure the integrity of end of period reports.

  15. Xero should not allow employees to submit Expenses for locked periods. It must have a Posting Date & Document Date to facilitate this. The document date should always be what's on the invoice/receipt

  16. Could we add a feature to enable us to email out service and inspection reminders up to 28 days before it is due.
    This could be done by date only.

  17. The Discuss Tab should have a history trail showing the user and date that a comment was submitted.

    Also registered comments should not be editable or removed once submitted. The ideal situation would be if the tab took on the functionality of a chat system also allowing to tag a user of that particular company in a discussion prompting a notification to the user.

    Once a transaction is processed, the notes should be attached to the transaction in the history and notes section for future reference.

  18. It would be great to have the ability to run a report to show any bank transactions reconciled on a given date i.e any bank transactions that were reconciled on 7 August 2024, rather than clicking into individual transactions to see the audit trail

    Hi Beth, appreciate it's been a little while since you first raised your idea here. This is actually already possible with the History & notes report.

    If you set the date as you need, then in the Search bar type 'Reconciled'. This will quickly group and show you a list of the transactions that have been reconciled for that period, along with a few details of the reconciliation.

  19. Being able to customize each user role is quite important as every person in every company does something different. Giving them access to systems they shouldn't have because the User Role they need to do their job allows them access to these other areas is a security risk in general.

    Putting in Custom Roles will also allow companies to adjust the Users to their Company Policies for controls.

    Appreciate the idea here - Being transparent, developing granular permissions or roles for every feature and action throughout Xero is not in our plans. 


    Understanding more of the permission sets majority of users need, will help understand where the biggest impact could be made. 

    I've slightly adjusted the title to suit the needs of the role you mentioned. We'll get a sense of others that'd like this too. 

  20. It would be great if we could do a bulk recode of due dates for invoices. EG, all May invoices for a particular supplier can be recoded so the due date shows 30 June.
