  1. Turn off rounding in payroll deductions and superannuation in Pay Template. Is it possible to turn off rounding for payroll deductions in pay templates, as we have defined benefit member salary sacrifice percentage rates that are more than two decimals and Xero automatically rounds down or up which creates the designated ATO rate lower or higher than specified. Also payroll deduction amounts for Novated Leasing for pre and post tax amounts are rounding down or up to an amount which then we will have to create a journal later to fix the incorrect amount being direct debited from our bank…

  3. I have different managers responsible for different employee timesheets so therefore I would really like the ability to authorise specific managers to employees. Am still using mostly paper timesheets because of the massive deficiencies in the XeroMe ones (think is one of the many reasons).
I don't think its appropriate that anyone authorised can access all timesheets as it does nothing but create confusion and the potential to authorise the wrong ones. Also unnecessarily time consuming.

Is it possible to please add some tickboxes/controls to remove this hurdle?

  4. Currently you are able to select the tax scale Horticultural/Shearers but there is no default tax rate attached. Apparently if employee falls under this scale you need to select for reporting to ATO which means you have to then manually calculate tax when you do the pays which is not possible if you have multiple employees knowing which employee wants what rate as they all do not use the default. This also leads to errors if not picked up it doesnt calculate automatically. May I suggest that we urgently attention to have the default ATO tax scale rate included with…

  5. The new NZ WorkRide scheme works via a pre-tax deduction re salary sacrifice. Xero Support confirmed that right now there’s no functionality in Xero Payroll to process a pre-tax deduction. We have been advised that we need to manually adjust the tax in the draft pay run to reduce the PAYE withheld. Please enable your customers to comply with the NZ WorkRide scheme without the need for manual PAYE adjustments, by creating the ability to process pre-tax deductions.

  6. When you view a payrun, the breakdown at the top shows: Earnings, Taxes, Superannuation, Net Pay, Status & Payment Date.
When you view the details for any of the employees there is an additional field for Reimbursements at the top of the screen.
It would be great if the reimbursements total was also shown on the pay runs summary screen to quickly review and identify the total.
Especially when the clients run their own payroll and we are just reconciling.

  7. Currently, when super payments bounce, Xero sends us an email letting us know that a payment to a particular super fund from a particular payment batch has failed. Once we've identified whose it was, and got the updated details, we then have to contact Xero to get a re-processing authorised.

All of this takes time, during which the Directors of my clients may become liable for late super payments. I'd like a button to click to speed up at least the contacting Xero for re-processing bit - preferably as part of the process identify the refund received and connect the…

Hi team, sorry we haven't joined in this idea sooner. Earlier this year we released an improvement so now if an auto superannuation payment is returned the authoriser will receive an email including the reason for the return. They will be able to withdraw the payment from the processed batch to reprocess the contributions. We have detailed help for this on Xero Central, but if you run into any snags as always our Xero Support team are available to help. 🙂

  8. Suggestion? Please fix the Salary Sacrifice % of Earnings to include all gross earnings, not just payroll items selected for SGC.

Currently Xero will only apply a Salary Sacrifice % amount to any payroll item that is selected for SGC. If an employee chooses to Salary Sacrifice a % of their gross earrings that may include overtime worked, a manual calculation work around is required.

  9. I'm an experienced chartered accountant relatively new Xero user. I'm flummoxed by the inclusion of payroll transactions in the "bills to pay" section. While the detail is hidden from some users, some personal payroll transactions (related to overpayment) have become viewable by users without payroll access. Even summary transactions should not be viewable by people without payroll access.

All payroll transactions should be in a separate section to avoid confusion and any breach of privacy.

I cannot, for the life of me, see the rationale for including payroll transactions in this area in the first place.

Hi Steve, appreciate it hasn't been too long since I last updated you here. I wanted to round back with an update as we;re making changes to Global Pay Run. Meaning this product will be retired from April 2026.

With no plans for developing Xero payroll specifically for other regions at this time we'll shift your idea to Not planned, however I'd recommend exploring our Xero app store where we have multiple payroll app partners that integrate with Xero and could meet the needs of your business.

  10. It would be great to be able to export a report of all notes on employees contact. We use the notes section to record notes about attendance issues, conversations, warnings given.

Hi Kylie, while there's not a specific employee notes report, you can run the Payroll History with a few filters to get what you need here.

When you run the report you can either run it for all employees, or select the specific employees from the drop down. Set the Type to 'Employees' and Apply.

Once run you can then enter 'Notes' in the search to further filter and only show employees notes added to their records in the set date range. If needed you'll also be able to export the report to Excel or PDF.

  11. It would be a great addition to be able to allocate employees to a particular employee group and from this run historical employee summary reports by employee.

At present when setting up tracking categories the tracking in employee reports will only track payruns once the employee groups are setup. Any historical payruns are not included. This makes it difficult to compare periods or look at employee group reports for the year to date.

There should be an ability to apply the employee grouping tracking to all or some of the historical payruns.

  12. Ability to draft future payruns - ie more than 1 darft payrun. Especially at Christmas time. I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

Hi team, we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans for enabling the ability to create multiple draft pay runs in NZ Payroll.

If this is something you'd like to see developed for NZ Payroll please add your vote here and we will continue to get a sense of the overall interest from community, and can share if there are any plans made.

  13. Xero Payroll restricts the payment date to no more than 90 days after the end of the payroll period. This isn't a legal or taxation limitation, but does restrict the occassions where clients are paying payroll in less regular intervals (such as paying their entire salary annually).

Hi team, while we appreciate the request here, considering compliance requirements for payroll in AU we want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing the ability to set the payment date beyond 90 days.

For any employees that you may pay on an annual salary basis, we'd recommend setting the payment date 90 days before the employee's annual pay date.

  14. At present it is impossible to link a payroll item to an Asset Account in GL. This is a limitation that is wrong and should be easy to fix. It is wrong because in some cases the wages are capitalised (for instance when the resources are used in full or in part to construct capital assets). Sure, it is possible to post a journal to move costs from P&L to a Balance Sheet account but it is cumbersome and error prone. I note, a majority of competing products do not have this limitation.

Hi community, while we appreciate you sharing in the idea here we don't have any plans for developing this capability in the global Pay run product. Instead, we'd recommend using a manual journal to record this.

  15. Wish I could remove it from the top row of tabs. Keep it simple.
Previous versions allowed it to be removed by turning off the Payroll Add-on. Cheers Pete

Hey Pete, thanks for sharing this feedback with us.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know that changes like being able to remove the Payroll tab are important for sole traders like yourself who want to keep the interface simple.

We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero. 🙂

  16. STP reporting - Super for employees with OTE above the maximum contribution base. ATO STP guidance allows employers to report EITHER Super Type L (the YTD SUPER liability for each employee) OR Super Type O (The YTD OTE for each employee). For employees earning OTE above the maximum Contribution base the correct STP reporting category to use is Super Type L. I have not been able to find how to set up the Super Category Type L in Xero. This option needs to be available to correctly report YTD super for employees earning above the maximum contribution base. Unfortunately the…

Thanks for submitting your idea, Sandra. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.

We'll begin to monitor and track support your idea receives from the community, and share if there are any updates in product.

You can find out and stay updated with other Xero releases on Xero Central.

When entering information on time sheets for employees, the ability to hit "next" to move onto the next employee once you have approved the time sheet rather than having to go back out to the main timesheet menu, find the appropriate timesheet on the drop down list & go back in to enter the timesheet for the next employee.

  18. IDEA - CIS suffered report to calculate the CIS suffered correctly.

ISSUE - If you apply a credit note to an invoice that has both CIS labour and CIS materials, Xero does not calculate the CIS suffered correctly. Even though the credit note is coded to the correct nominal code, Xero doesn't recognise this. This causes the CIS suffered report to reduce the deduction amount which is incorrect. This means the figure you submit to HMRC is lower than it should be. Meaning less of a refund of CIS suffered than it actually should be.

  19. Please give us the option to make Tracking Groups a mandatory selection on the Employee tab before Xero users can save a new employee. This will stop users from setting up new employees & forgetting to assign the Employee Group tracking group which results in misreporting

Hi team, while we appreciate your feedback and why you'd like to make this field mandatory not all businesses use tracking for payroll. We want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for making the employee groups field mandatory.

Hey all, 👋  thanks for your support on this idea and sorry for the late update. I’m popping in to switch it across to delivered for our AU users!
Just before the end of the year, we rolled out the option for employees to archive their rejected leave requests in Xero Me web.
Thanks again for your feedback 😊

For voters from other regions, if this is still something you’d like to see feel free to make a copy of this idea and pop the region in brackets.
