  1. Please automatically revert to the "Pay Employees" page after a payrun has been filed. At the moment after a payrun is filed with the ATO we are taken back to the "Post Payrun" / "File" page. You then have to click on "Close" to be taken to the "Pay Employees" page. Why the extra step?

  2. Hi Xero team,

    For timesheets with the "Total hours worked" setting, would you be able to create a setting that allows us to set our own default shift duration?

    When we go to add a shift to our timesheet, by default the shift duration is set to 8 hours. For those of us who don't work 8 hour shifts, each time we log a shift we have to click on the duration and change it to the amount of hours we worked.

  4. The feature request is to allow the defining of current liability accounts for pay items with pay types set to Deductions, Payroll Taxes, and Post-tax Deductions. This will enable the tracking of payroll source deductions and taxes necessary for remittance reports to the tax authority (such as EI, CPP and income taxes for T4 and T4 summary completion in Canada).

    There are two ways I believe Xero developers could achieve this goal.

    Thanks for sharing and engaging with Product ideas. While we understand wanting to see improvements to Global Pay Run, however as you may have recently read -

    We’re making some changes to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date. 

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run. 

    With this update we want to be upfront here that we don't have any intentions of further developing Global Pay Run, and will close this idea.

Please please can you sort your system so that when we are bulk importing our annual jobs that it is possible to import the budget also - I have asked for this for many years but to date nothing has changed. I hope that now that you have finally updated the system, after several years of empty promises, perhaps this is now a possiblity. It is far too time consuming to enter the budget manually with over 1000 jobs and would speed up our invoicing if the budget field was imported instead of having to look elsewhere for the fee.…

  7. Number of fields for projects is really poor, I need a tracking category added to projects so for example we can have four different types of projects which I want to categorise in the initial project set up. When costs and revenue are then allocated to this project it's also automatically allocated to the tracking category associated. At the moment I'm having to manually allocate to every transaction. Would be made easier if like sage they had a copy above function but we don't even have that either, so clicky!

  9. Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.

    This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back the default…

  10. Add tracking categories to the find and match function on the bank reconciliation screen. this would make matching payments to invoices easier for my clients as they have payments taken via DD per branch

  12. As you’ve found, right now it’s not possible to submit timesheets using the casual rate during the weekday and then also to be able to submit timesheets for the casual rate that applies on the weekend.

    From your idea it sounds as if you'd like employees to be able to submit timesheets with start & end times and different earnings rates, Nathan? This isn't possible atm.

    However, an option here where you're dealing with multiple earnings rates for an employee is to get them to submit timesheets using the 'Total hours worked'. This'll let them;

    • record the number of hours worked per day, including partial hours
    • record time spent at different earnings rates and tracking categories if used.

    Your employees may need to edit the timesheet setting, by opening Xero Me, going to Timesheets > Settings and selecting 'Total hours worked'.

  14. Reports eg Transaction reports, should be able to be summarised by tracking category. Currently if a bank transaction is spread across a number of tracking categories, the transaction report will report this as 'multiple categories'. This is very unhelpful.

  15. Xero provides for only one ATO Branch code to be recorded for an organisation in Settings / Organisation details. Also, Xero does not require a branch code to be recorded for Single Touch Payroll (STP) which would be resulting in a number of cases where the ATO is contacting clients and practitioners regarding incorrect branch codes for STP and requiring correction of STP filings which is time consuming and complex.

    Some businesses have different branch codes for different ATO reporting obligations. For example, a business may have a branch number of 001 for Single Touch Payroll but 003 for Taxable…

  16. When you have a large number of Tracking category options and you wish to add another, you have to scroll heavily to get to the bottom of the list each time you wish to add another.
    This is not time efficient. The option to add another tracking category option should be at the top of the page for simplicity and time management of the XERO user

    Thanks for your idea here, Rolf. Can't quite confirm the exact date this changed but you should now find the abbreviation for September in Xero Payroll has been changed to the 3 character long version 'Sep'.

    If there is a specific place you're still seeing 'Sept' referenced please do let us know here and I can follow this up with our product team.

  18. Managers who have the ability to approve leave in Xero Me should be able to view historical leave requests they've approved so they can anticipate when staff are away. Currently, they cannot do this unless they have Payroll Admin access and a Xero account on a web browser. Not all managers are finance people and need to have this access.

  19. We have a 2 year old issue where we changed an employee end date then reverted a payrun. HMRC has not recognised the revertion or that the resubmission is the same data so we have a duplicate that we haven't been able to sort out.
    To avoid this pain for others, could there be a pop-up warning if someone tries to revert (or otherwise change) a payrun where an included employee has an end date set? Or if the end date has been changed? The details of how it works can be as is easiest to implement.
