New Invoicing - Add Payment details on invoice screen
When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.

the pop up box and having top open a calender pop up to select the date instead of just tabbing and typing are slowing my processes down. I have 100s of payments to add which takes several hours normally and this new style has doubled the time it takes. Not cost effective to me or my clients!

When allocating payments you struggle to see the original invoice date and they default the payment date to todays date. Also the struggle with the credits calculating as you type and not calculating after the value has been entered is so annoying.

This is one more unneccesary click, one more time, I have to reach for the mouse, one more time ... blahblahblah.
Tell me for whom this is benefical? Is there any situation in which this way of doing it provides benefit to the user????????
If it doesn't - remove it.
And I am saying this again on this thread.
I am quite angry that you are using your customers as guinea pigs without asking. You could have run a focus group, a beta test, what have you ...something that real developers use before they release the results of their unbridled creativity into the wild. But you don't ... that's what's really making me mad.

After creating an invoice there is a box on the right hand side that says Make Payment. After checking this box a box pops up on the screen to fill in the payment details. This box obscures the invoice number on the invoice behind it. This is very annoying. Can't you make the box pop up in a way that allows me to still see the invoice number in the invoice relating to the payment?

I'm a bookkeeper and this is crucial to some of my clients who have customers who pay their bills in several instalments from different sources. Using the new style it took three times the amount of time that it takes in classic invoicing which not only impinges on my time but on my client's budget paying for my time - what used to take me 3 hours a week would potentially now take 9 hours with the new invoicing layout - which means it can't be done in one day and this will affect my time in his office around other staff and my other clients as I need to 'find' more time to complete his work just because the system is slower.

This is very important to me, I don't want to be clicking around different screens to process a customer payment. I'd like to see the payment part remain at the bottom of the invoice like it was in the classic invoicing, so invoicing and payment are both completed at the same time meaning less going backwards and forwards to complete the invoice. It is NOT an improvement removing this handy feature, will it be put back into the new invoicing system being forced upon us? In the meantime I will keep using classic invoicing for as long as I can

Agree - yet another click added here. Why are Xero adding time to our processes? Keep it at the bottom of the invoice please!

This is impetrative that this is put back like in the classic invoicing. The extra step will double the amount of time I spend allocating customer payments for some of my customers due to how their customer payments are received.
The classic system was quick and efficient.
Nothing in the new invoicing system is efficient.

I agree.
Ideally I would like to be able to add several different payments in the invoice screen

+1 Absolutely Agree. Payment fields are a critical functionality of the software.

Removing the option to enter in payment details is nuts! Please, Xero, put this basic, useful feature back in (it should never have been removed in the first place)

The Add Payment button with it's silly pop up is much more time consuming than just having the fields ready to go at the bottom like Bills and Classic (working) invoicing

We use the payment fields on the invoice daily for multiple invoices. Please do not take this feature away.

I totally agree, adding the payment needs to be on the invoice screen and very visible as it has been, and still is in the classic model.

Previously, in Sales Invoices, selecting a payment would remain in the same window. Now each time this is selected, a new tab opens (we use this to remove/redo).
Please could this revert back to the old way, so no new tabs open. It is really inconvenient when you have many to do.
Thank you

Add Payment - Another click added to view this, when it was already in processing sequence and without extra clicks? Also, when selecting ‘Add payment’ and selecting a bank account with a different currency to the invoice, I get the error message ‘Custom rate for this date couldn’t load. Please try again.’ The xe.com rate display was extremely helpful, if not the correct rate it was at least a guide ensuring the conversion was the correct way around or as a comparison to highlight a possible error eg. USD 1.00 = EUR 0.927591 vs EUR 1.00 = USD 1.07806.
Additional Suggestion … add an option with the payment data entry to go directly to ‘Bills to pay’ for ease of Batch payment once all bills processed.

Totally agree, we need the ability to record a payment at the same time as creating the invoice. Our business is an online store where almost every customer pre-pays using their credit card. We just switched from MYOB which has this feature and the invoicing process with their software is much much quicker.

In the new version of invoicing, you click on add payment and then cursor is in date box and you have to use the mouse to select the date, you can then tab to the bank account, but you can't type say RBS and the bank is selected you have to use the mouse to select the bank and then you can tab and type in the amount and then you can't tab to the reference box, you have to use the mouse to open the option.
We are all basically data processors and use key strokes to input data as quickly as possible.
That is so much quicker with left hand using the tab key and the right putting in the required data.
I have read your comments and tried them out and see that the enter function does open some of the boxes, but I am still having to use the mouse to select most of the data.
I am a bookkeeper and therefore I am not usually posting a transaction that happened in the last few days, more likely in the last quarter and I can no longer type say 07/11/23, but instead have to click back through several months to get to the date I want.
In the classic version, I just used the mouse to press add payment, all the rest of the data was added using the tab on the left hand and typing with the right. -

100% agree. I don't want to click around different screens and menus.
Even with the hideous new layout, if it had a payment fields at the bottom of the invoice (the same as classic view) and you could tab between these fields using the keyboard, I could probably get this to work.
In its current state however, I’m looking at other software options.
