XPM - Ability to notify user of a change to a job
When something on a job changes (e.g. information is received from a client) it would be good to be able to automatically notify the staff member the job is assigned to in some way.
1 voteHi! Did you know it's already possible to do this in XPM?
Notifications can be set up by going to Business > Settings > Notifications, for notifications when new documents are added you can complete the 'New Job Document' section.
The Set up practice notifications has more information on setting up custom notifications, but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

transaction list by separate GL
We are currently facing an issue with downloading transaction reports from Xero. Specifically, the reports do not display each transaction in separate lines based on individual General Ledger (GL) entries. For example, when an invoice is posted across multiple GL accounts, the report consolidates it into a single line, rather than showing each GL entry separately. This makes it difficult to analyze and segregate transactions by GL account. Similarly, journal entries are also presented in a single line, even when they involve multiple GL accounts. Ideally, each GL entry should appear on its own line to provide a more detailed…
1 voteHi Rahul 😊thanks for raising this idea, Im happy to say there is the Receivable Invoice detail report that will show each line of the invoice individually! You can also group by invoice number to make it easier to see the detail. You can look at the options here and see how you can filter and customse this report further.

Edit sales tax amounts manually
I would like to be able to edit the sales tax amounts. Sometimes there is no tax on some items and tax on others so the simplified tax calculation creates an inaccurate tax amount.
2 votesThanks for sharing your thoughts on manually editing sales tax amounts.
Good news! You actually have a lot of control over how sales tax is handled. You can choose different tax rates for each item on an invoice or bill, and even set the whole transaction to be Tax Inclusive or Tax Exclusive. If something's tax-free, you can just pick a 0% rate like 'Tax Free' or 'Zero Rated' so it's still included in your reports.
We have a bunch of helpful info on this in Xero Central. Check out the articles below for a deeper dive. If you're still stuck, you can always reach out to our support team for a hand.

Record a refund or return from a vendor
The ability to record a refund for purchases.
1 voteHi
Our usual suggestion for this would be to enter a supplier credit note for the amount that's being refunded.
You can then record a 'payment' against this credit note to the relevant bank account, and this creates the record of the money that's being refunded to you.
To finish, you can then reconcile the bank statement line for the refund, against the payment you recorded.
There's more info on the process in this article: Process a customer or supplier refund
If you'd like to try this out before taking action in your own org, you can use the demo company to test it. 🙂

XPM - Allow multiple customers to be invoiced on one invoice
XPM - add the facility for one invoice to be raised for mulitple customers.
We have one holding company for mulitple companies, that wants only one invoice for them all2 votesHi! Did you know it's already possible to do this in XPM?
To invoice multiple clients under a single holding company, you can set the holding company as the billing client for the other companies and create a single invoice for them all by going to Business > Invoices.
We have a bit of help around this in the Xero Central article Assign and invoice a billing client but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

XPM - Add a Tax return/BAS etc without adding a job
Would be great to be able to add a tax return/BAS etc without adding a job - for firms that don’t use job management in XPM but use XPM for the workpapers.
1 voteYou can already do this in Xero Natalie. We have a bit if help around this in Xero Central, but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Customizable Contact Report
It would be good to be able to run a contacts report that is customizable i.e. to be able to run a report that shows what contacts don't have bank accounts entered or that don't have GST numbers entered. So that we could click into the clients from the report and update them.
1 voteHi Carmelle, this sort of level of detail from a contacts record is not available in a report format, however you could export your contacts from Xero where you'll see all this data and can update details to then re-import into your Xero organisation and update multiple contacts at once.

Account codes printing on journals
Would it be possible to be able to have the account codes on the pdf manual journal report pleasse. Right now its annoying not to know which codes were used without having to print the journal and then review the chart of accounts to write down the codes manually by hand. The only alternative is to use workpaer journal templates which means doing the journals twice.
3 votesExcellent 🙂 - thanks for your confirmation, Tracy. In that case we'll move your post to Existing functionality and this is already possible within Xero.
If you need any help getting the Journal report set up, just raise a case with our specialist through Xero central who can give you a hand.
Once you've got it all set up as you'd like, you could also save as Custom so you can quickly navigate and run this styled report any time.

NZ Tax - Ability to hide tax credits or remove from archived clients
Tax credits of Archived clients show up in reports. It would be great to remove tax credits from them.
3 votesHi Gordon, thanks for your suggestion regarding the ability to hide tax credits for archived clients in your reports.
This is already possible within Xero. While there isn't a specific way to remove tax credits, you can achieve your desired outcome by setting the criteria of the report itself to exclude archived clients. This will hide all archived clients from the report view. 🙂
We acknowledge that this workaround hides the client from the report, but you still cannot entirely remove tax credits from an archived client's record in Xero. If this specific feature is still something you need, please let us know by replying here so we can revisit classifying this as an idea for future consideration.

Contact Notes
This would help a lot!
What :Can the notes section be made available to view from Contacts tab .
Why : You have to click on files to see it
How: If it is there I can see if I have to watch out for anything specific ..i.e rate change or new bank details
Kind Regards Andy1 voteHi team, as noted in my last update - You can already do this in Xero with the Contact additional notes field that is available when editing a contacts record, and visible from the Contact details tab of their contact record. 🙂
