    the current method of dd-Mmm-yyyy with the first letter of the month being capitalise gets cumbersome for clients

    Thanks for sharing your idea in the forums here, Christopher. There aren't any plans around this right now, but we'll gain a sense of the interest for being able to edit the password for OoA's from your idea here, and share if there's any news.

  2. When creating a new workpaper pack, clients appearing under the Organisation dropdown is taken from XPM (as a one-way sync).

    It isn't possible to delete duplicate clients in Workpapers, even once they've been removed from XPM and the information has been synced again.

    The downside is that the Permanent workpaper isn't brought forward from LY and there's no sync to XPM (as it's connected to the true client record).

    The workaround is to edit the client name in the Settings (by putting a DNU or ZZ in the name), save it, then delete that Workpaper.

    Hi Anthony, thanks for submitting this detailed idea for improving Xero Workpapers.

    We can certainly see how having duplicate clients appear in the organisation list would be frustrating, especially when it prevents permanent files from being brought forward correctly. Your suggestion to have a two-way sync with XPM or the ability to directly archive or delete these duplicates makes a lot of sense.

  3. Currently NZ clients can make payments to a Tax Pooling provider (e.g. Tax Traders or TMNZ) and they will sit in the Tax Pooling Providers account until transferred to IRD.
    In the clients mind they have 'paid this tax' already, but when the tax return is prepared in XPM there is no sign of any tax pooling payments, and it shows the full tax liability.

    It would be great if there was a way to type in how much has been paid to Tax Pooling, and record this on the front page of the tax return so there is a…

    Thank you for this excellent and detailed suggestion regarding NZ tax returns and tax pooling payments.

    We can certainly see how clients would find it confusing when their prepared tax return in XPM doesn't reflect payments they have already made to a provider like TMNZ or Tax Traders. Your idea to add a note or a specific field on the return to record this amount would be a great way to provide clarity and manage client expectations.

  4. In Xero Tax, you can enter "Any other payments or credits on account" to show what a client has already paid towards their tax bill. But you can't enter a negative figure (i.e. a refund already received for a return that is being amended) and there is nowhere to add in any outstanding tax from a previous return etc so that the payments report factors this in.

    It would be good to be able to have some additional boxes to show these please.

  5. Given Xero's push for 'beautiful accounting' I find it very frustrating that the template report codes can't be re-ordered within their groups in the template reports and always revert to alphabetical at the client level, meaning every single client needs their custom reports formatting unnecessarily. Editing reports at every single client level for what I consider to be pretty basic formatting is really disappointing.

    The practice level report template should allow for report codes to be reordered within their groups. I don't want rent, rates and utility costs to be at the bottom of the establishment costs section because they…

  6. On the Employee Contact Details report it would be great to have a column to show the termination date and reason for termination. Being able to sort by termination date range eg last quarter would be beneficial to assist with preparing the long service leave reports. The termination date and reason needs to be included in the report. Having a summary of the information from Xero would be beneficial for all.

  7. When creating custom queries, only the system default workpapers are available to add the query to. So when you are processing the workpapers, you need to manually move each query to its relevant workpaper, if you want it on a custom workpaper. Please add custom workpapers to the custom query creation list.

    Alternatively - if queries were rolled forward from one year to the next, custom queries would only need to be moved in the first year.

  8. Often the first question in a section is a yes/no - it would be good to hide the additional questions that result from the first answer, rather than needing to cover all bases with additional requests for the yes or no question. The shorter the initial list, the more likely the client will answer promptly and correctly.

  9. Revert to standard invoicing until the problems are sorted out. Each entry has a 5 second delay before it is entered. Even this message is doing this. It is currently almost impossible to work with as a bookkeeper. It jumps aaround all over the screen and with the delays one then has to go back and find the field. It is not my computer. Other screens are not a problem. I read somewhere there are going to be changes to payroll. Please test the changes before this happens with this also.

    Hi Pauline, I'm sorry to hear the slowness you're experiencing. I want to be transparent that we will not be bringing back classic invoicing. However, I'd highly recommend raising a case with our team of specialists at Xero Support who can investigate what may be causing this for you.

    As you've also mentioned experiencing slowness when engaging on product ideas here, while you wait for supports response I'd recommend starting with the troubleshooting steps in our article here.

  10. The productivity dashboard does not have the functionality to automatically account for staff start dates. It calculates capacity for the whole year which does not work for staff commencing mid year. There's no functionality to set a historic capacity level. The workaround is to manually adjust the reporting date for the productivity dashboard to account for each staff's start date or use the Time Productivity Report as an alternative. I'd love to see this feature improvement / functionality in the future.

  11. It would be great to have two additional tax return status values, to more efficiently support the typical workflows of busy tax agents.

    1. Waiting on information - return cannot progress until the client provides missing info.

    2. Rejected - return has failed review and requires adjustment before it can be lodged.

  13. Would it be possible to visibly see the Government Gateway currently set up for HMRC submissions for each individual client? At the moment I believe this isn't available, however it would be helpful to be able to view this information via Practice Manager

When moving time to another job in XPM and you start typing the client name that the time is to be transferred to, it appears at the very bottom of the list, So you always have to scroll down the screen to see the job that you want to transfer it to. Could it please appear at the top of the list on the screen?

  15. It would be great if there were the ability to run a report of all business structure type Tax returns (AU, CTR, PTR, SMSF, TRT) with who is tax payable and refundable.

    At the moment, we can do this for some business structure types, but not all and when adding in these columns, it immediately removes all clients.

  16. We have just been advised that we cannot allocate write off/on to jobs rather against individuals or apportioned across those who have charged time to the job. At times, jobs are short quoted for reasons and it's unfair to impact someone's recoverability due to business decisions. There has to be a way to record such write offs without impacting staff or teams time directly rather recoverability of the job.

  17. We occasionally have issues when transferring Xero subscriptions with the notification being missed by the other party. Is it possible for the subscriber to receive an email when the transfer period is due to expire and the other party has not accepted?

  18. In Individual income tax returns, where an individual received a trust distribution, the trust name appears to show the Trust's TFN in the name in the trust distribution income section. It will be great if the hiding TFN feature includes the hiding of TFN in this distribution income section as well.

  19. There should be an arrow on the Date Selection box to load next equal period. If the original period was one month, there should be an arrow to load next month in just one click - and a back arrow. Same for a year selected, or a quarter.
