Xero Tax (UK) - Make available to businesses, not only to Partners
Ability to have Xero Tax for businesses, not only for Partners

Hi community, we appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving. While our team will continue to review this idea, Xero Tax remains a Partner only product with tools and capabilities that help Xero Partners serve their clients with ease, and we don't have immediate intentions of changing this. Again, we'd like to encourage that if you're not currently connected to a Xero Partner you can find one that can serve your advisor needs through our Advisor Directory. If there is any change planned we will update you of this, here.
Also to note, our current position on Xero Tax does not relate to our MTD IT program and we'll be providing further information for this separately on this idea. Thanks

We can already do it for VAT, why not annual accounts ? The liability is on us anyway.

Come on Xero, make this Xero Tax available to all Xero users...there is a huge demand. We want to submit our own tax. We'll pay for it, juts make it an option!

We have our own inhouse accountants for all of our small companies, we should be able to access this to produce our stat accounts instead of paying have SAPA and doing it that way.

for very small businesses just starting or restarting after the pandemy filing micro entity accounts this would be a great help

I love the xero Hubdoc , and friendly use. It seems very popular software in the market but It's a shame we can not submit the account and tax to HMRC and companies directly with the software. so we have to look for different software...

This is going to cause us to move to a different tool from Xero.

I agree I am a qualified chartered accountant who works for a small company but we have to pay a large fee to an accountant to take our figures and put them into a statutory format

I thought I would be able to file the accounts and tax return for my family micro business without needing to incur the cost of a Xero Partner. I am an accountant but not a Xero Partner. I agree with the comments below.

I signed up to Xero because I thought I would be able to work out my earnings and tax information so this could go strait to tax office

I agree that Xero for business should have the Xero Tax functionality. As a lot of SME companies have inhouse accountants who won't be Xero partners. So these companies need to source another software to file CT return which adds money and time to these companies. Xero is an excellent system but this might be pushing factor to move to different system.

I agree, shouldn't gate keep things that are completely fine for non- bookkeeper/accountants to complete.
Also, what if a larger company employs a bookkeeper/accountant rather than using a partner!?

I completely agree with this suggestion.

I think users should be able to use the personal tax element of Xero Tax, so that when MTD ITSA comes into play they are able to submit their own returns. for some clients, we do their company accounts, but they do their own self assessment and if they will be affected personally by MTD ITSA then this will be necessary.

I think this should be open to all users. The small businesses can benefit immensely with this.

Our business is small, we don't need any accountant to File Accounts for us we can do it on our own so atleast Xero must need to give an access to small businesses regardless of Xero partner so that they can easily file their accounts with HMRC smoothly.

I am a growing business and being able to track investment and tax allowances is crucial. I need to be able to understand the importance of things like annual investment allowances, first year allowances and zero emissions vehicle corporation tax allowances in advance, as they drive my business model.

I am doing my Xero accounts and tax myself (I do have the necessary training and experience) so Xero Tax would be a welcome addition to the subscription (even if it were an additional (annual) fee).
I don't see a reason for having to go through a partner as indeed already mentioned by others they just charge a significant fee for something that is already available. Equally I am responsible for signing in the end my company income tax either done by myself or the Xero Partner and therefore in my case the Xero Partner does not add any value for me. -

I would love to be able to have Xero Tax for the business I work for. Happy to register as a partner, but don't want to have to make up a company I don't have, for one "client" who is my employer. I'm a chartered accountant, so fully qualified to do the tax returns, just hindered by the software.

Of course that for someone like Simon Jones, who is a Xero Partner, it would be better to defend their end than to suggest better ideas to develop what Xero is already doing.
Considering I have contacted several Xero Partners to do the accounts for my small company, and their quotes, even though most of their work is already done in Xero, are similar to any other accountant that does not work with Xero.
And I can say this comfortably, as I have another company with an accountant (not Xero Partner) working for me.So their quotes are simply ridiculous and they are taking advantage of both Xero and small companies.
Also, according to your comment, then doing VAT returns would be a nightmare, which is not.

Interesting commercial challenge! I can see how this would work well for companies with capable finance departments, but a number of my clients would "want to have a go" and then stuff it up, as to complete the CT600 properly for anything but the most basic company a reasonable level of detailed tax knowledge is needed and doing year end accounts "correctly" requires a certain minimum level of knowledge too. As a Xero Partner I'd probably bill more helping clients sort out their filing issues than from just doing it for them!
