Xero Tax(UK) - Ability to have Xero Tax for businesses
Ability to have Xero Tax for businesses, not only for Partners

This was definitely the turning point that lost a migration of a group company to Xero because the inability to do these returns. They went to the competition, although not as user friendly, they able to do their returns without the need of having to pay extra for a Partner to give them access. The Companies have qualified accountants that are able to do these returns. Why allow the VAT return to HMRC but no allow corporate returns? Big loss for Xero as competing software are right there ready to accept what Xero lacks.

I had not realised I would still have to pay an accountant to do year end statutory accounts and the corporation tax return, which makes this a very expensive product so unless Xero are going to change their stance in the very near future I too will be moving away from it.

+1 on Michael Hoy's comment. Yes, accountants need to have tools, but I don't need/want an accountant for this business I can do it all myself but I can't generate any of the documentation I need for year-end accounts filing, but I can for VAT. Seems rather arbitrary. Additionally, it feels like they are propping up an industry that the market doesn't want to use. But if Xero makes its money from accountants not SMEs directly it makes sense why this isn't enabled.

I agree with everyone’s comments below. I understand that Xero would want to support its partners with an income stream, but for micro / small companies that can’t file using HMRC offering (eg investment companies) or startups with minimal income, it seems unfair to have to employ external bookkeepers or accountants who may even be less qualified than an in-house accountant. The liability for the return’s accuracy rests with the target anyway (who has to approve it) so it seems a potentially unnecessary step. By all means include a disclaimer in the software, but please let us be the judge of whether we know what we are doing!

I am a certified accountant working in industry who prepares their own accounts. I love Xero, but to have to use different software to prepare the accounts is not efficient.
Other software has the ability to file accounts and tax returns without using an accountant, why not Xero.

Very surprised that this cannot be added for qualified accountants who work in industry. This is a MUST have feature. Its clearly available to be used.
Competent Finance People should not have to pay for a Xero Partner to be able to use this feature -

This is essential. I am a Chartered Accountant, I just happen to work in industry, but it means I am quite competent to handle tax affairs without needing to "reach out to a Xero Partner", to quote Xero's current unhelpful response. Most accountants work in industry of one sort or another, very few stay in practice.

We can already do it for VAT, why not annual accounts ? The liability is on us anyway.

Come on Xero, make this Xero Tax available to all Xero users...there is a huge demand. We want to submit our own tax. We'll pay for it, juts make it an option!

We have our own inhouse accountants for all of our small companies, we should be able to access this to produce our stat accounts instead of paying have SAPA and doing it that way.

I love the xero Hubdoc , and friendly use. It seems very popular software in the market but It's a shame we can not submit the account and tax to HMRC and companies directly with the software. so we have to look for different software...

This is going to cause us to move to a different tool from Xero.

I agree I am a qualified chartered accountant who works for a small company but we have to pay a large fee to an accountant to take our figures and put them into a statutory format

I thought I would be able to file the accounts and tax return for my family micro business without needing to incur the cost of a Xero Partner. I am an accountant but not a Xero Partner. I agree with the comments below.

I signed up to Xero because I thought I would be able to work out my earnings and tax information so this could go strait to tax office

I agree that Xero for business should have the Xero Tax functionality. As a lot of SME companies have inhouse accountants who won't be Xero partners. So these companies need to source another software to file CT return which adds money and time to these companies. Xero is an excellent system but this might be pushing factor to move to different system.

I agree, shouldn't gate keep things that are completely fine for non- bookkeeper/accountants to complete.
Also, what if a larger company employs a bookkeeper/accountant rather than using a partner!?

I completely agree with this suggestion.

I think users should be able to use the personal tax element of Xero Tax, so that when MTD ITSA comes into play they are able to submit their own returns. for some clients, we do their company accounts, but they do their own self assessment and if they will be affected personally by MTD ITSA then this will be necessary.
