Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Have a few options so a basic user can cut down on the noise and just have bank accounts and the profit graph, for a new user this would be overwelming.
Hi everyone, we appreciate the attention this idea has been getting. It's really good to hear how we can continue to improve the Homepage for our differing customers needs. We understand not all the widgets maybe useful to every user, and the 'Customise' button will let you add or remove widgets to reduce what you see on the Homepage.
Taking on board feedback we're looking at the sizing of widgets and you'll find the 'Chart of Accounts' and 'Cash in and out' widgets are now smaller by default with an option to 'Make larger' - You can follow further updates for this on the idea here.
We have plans to dig deeper into possible 'view' options (like the different levels of views being asked here) in the new year and I'll share further updates here when this gets picked up. 🙂

Just let us keep the current/old home page and this will all be solved. Please listen to the hundreds of users who have taken the time to comment, which surely represents many hundreds more, and stop making changes no one wants and makes our user experience worse.

@Kelly Munro, the resize options (on chart of accounts and cashin/cash out) is a joke, to be brutally honest.
All it does is effectively double the width of the widget and give you no more information...it is literally the same level of info, just spaced out to twice the width. You are still forced to scroll, especially in the chart of accounts, to see all the info.
This is not an improvement or an expanding the level of customisation...to call it otherwise, is nothing short of insulting.
DO BETTER!

The point is, Kellie and xero it's not about needing to improve the homepage but about whether you should or not. Frankly, the new page is horrendous, hard to use, difficult to navigate, and the majority of us want to stay with the current version and object to that being removed from us. This forced change is not good customer service, and it is for me the final tipping point for a product that has become more and more expensive and does not cater for lite users like myself but slug us the same fee for features we don't need, want or use

I tried to hide some widgets and watched the "how to" video on the homepage which told me to click on "customise". Would help if I had a customise button on my homepage! Had to work out how to do it another way. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Please allow us to change the font size, I work in a small office and now our financial information is being blasted to staff that don't need to see it.

Please let us keep the old "classic" look. This is a car crash.

Just been forced to the 'new' and pathetic home page. I now have to remove all widgets, have nothing on the homepage, then go find everything. As all widgets and their XXXL font are now a confidential issue. All our tradies can now see how much the company has or owes! Anyone got suggestions for another accounting package?

I feel the new Dashboard is too busy, overdone and unnecessary. let us decide if we would like maintain the old look (More modern and efficient than the new one). why can't we the user decide ?

Change the bank accounts page to use the old bank widgets with charts. Bank accounts page is pretty useless for companies with lots of accounts, like mine, 50+

You can get inspiration from HomeAssistant, where you can resize a widget to show more of less controls or just to make the widget informational only"
A widget can have a default action even when it's informational only, for example a bank account widget will lead to the reconciliation page. This would allow displaying tiny widget for bank accounts for example instead of the unnecessarily large ones we have today.

It would have been better for the new layout to pick up the order of the boxes from the old version so users would not have to re arrange them.
As an accountant in public practice, we have 4 employees who access Xero files and several hundred Xero files. Multiply this and we have hundreds of home pages that need to be re arranged.
We obtain our efficiencies by knowing where to look, in a simple way, not by having to spend time looking for things. -

I would suggest removing the white strip under the blue menu tabs along the top which has the company name and last logged in time in it. We dont need the company name listed as that is always showing in the top left corner in the blue menu. This would free up a little more screen space.

For a basic business, the old dashboard was perfect. The new dashboard is not only overcrowded with the number of widgets, but even the widgets that essentially do the same thing, are not easy to identify. Users should be allowed to select what they want to see and what they don't want to see. For users who want more indepth graphs etc, there should be a button that takes them to another dashboard where they can see analysis etc. For those who want task, it is a great idea, but it should be a button that takes them to that area. In my opinion, the old dashboard design worked i.e. layout, font, spacing etc provided great essentials. The new dashboard is not userfriendly, over crowded and a nightmare on a laptop. It is great you have expanded useability by offering quick analysis/depth etc via the new widgets, but in my opinion, one should 'get to them' via a button along the top, bottom or side taking the user to a different dashboard where the user can select/hide/resize the various new widgets.

Agreed. The main things we need to see easily and quickly in the dashboard are now hidden, messy or unclear.
Totally unnecessary update in my opinion.

Thanks to the inability of Xero to understand or respect their client's needs, my inbox is full of comments/ideas/suggestions/complaints and I'm having to unfollow all things related to the homepage.
When will Xero ever start to understand their client base? -

I agree with the many comments below. The new homepage looks busy and outdated. I customized to remove most the widgets except those related to bank accounts and billing/invoicing, but it still feels like information overload. The old view was much more streamlined and easier on the eyes. It also looked more modern before.

Far too much going on with the new home page. Very confusing for clients with multiple bank accounts. If I need analytics that can be on a separate page.

Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Great Idea, Admin can maybe suggest what to indicate within each level?
Ex. "Advanced" - Profitability Ratios (Or any other - Liquidity Ratios, Solvency Ratios) at a glance perhaps? This will help with identifying any irregular issues much quicker and where to start investigating.
Side note - If this is included with an upgraded package or was mentioned before or discussed, apologies and please refer me.
