Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Have a few options so a basic user can cut down on the noise and just have bank accounts and the profit graph, for a new user this would be overwelming.
Hi everyone, we appreciate the attention this idea has been getting. It's really good to hear how we can continue to improve the Homepage for our differing customers needs. We understand not all the widgets maybe useful to every user, and the 'Customise' button will let you add or remove widgets to reduce what you see on the Homepage.
Taking on board feedback we're looking at the sizing of widgets and you'll find the 'Chart of Accounts' and 'Cash in and out' widgets are now smaller by default with an option to 'Make larger' - You can follow further updates for this on the idea here.
We have plans to dig deeper into possible 'view' options (like the different levels of views being asked here) in the new year and I'll share further updates here when this gets picked up. 🙂

Far too much going on with the new home page. Very confusing for clients with multiple bank accounts. If I need analytics that can be on a separate page.

Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Great Idea, Admin can maybe suggest what to indicate within each level?
Ex. "Advanced" - Profitability Ratios (Or any other - Liquidity Ratios, Solvency Ratios) at a glance perhaps? This will help with identifying any irregular issues much quicker and where to start investigating.
Side note - If this is included with an upgraded package or was mentioned before or discussed, apologies and please refer me.

I don't like the new homepage at all. Too complicated and difficult to use. Also the bills page now is extremely inconvenient to use. Why did the bills stop appearing in the "all" folder? Now to find the right bill I need to search in different folders.

Terrible, overly complicated, way too busy and difficult to use, those are the terms we hear regarding this new homepage. I do hope Xero wises up and starts listening to their clients at some point, but I doubt it.
We're moving clients (away) to other solutions as this may just be that proverbial last drop.

Can you make it a choice of dashboard either the old classic or this? It is way too busy and overwhelming to look at. It is overkill for most and looks like you can do a switch between for now so why not just keep that option to those who refer the better old dashboard. I don't want to switch back for a short time I want to switch back most times as it is a cleaner view.

I dont like the new homepage at all. Whoever designed it obviolusly doesn't use it everyday. I do not need in your face huge wigets. I dont need to know who 'Paid invoies recently'. The old page was great compared to this. All my bank accounts neatly down one side. My invoices and bills to be paid neatly on the right. The Account to watch in a place where my accountant and I put them. Any reports I needed only a click away. Now I have this abomination of a screen that I didn't ask for and in a few weeks won't be able to change. I don't aprrove of my monthly fees being used for unnecessary changes just to justify someones position.

The new layout is far too busy. We operate 18 different bank accounts so the new widgets are terrible to look at. The previous layout was perfectly fine. Having a Task Bar that lists the accounts for reconciliation seems a little pointless when the accounts are visible on screen.
One thing I would like to add is a widget for common reports that we could customise the reports we use and have a single click to for them.

I absolutely hate the new homepage layout!
It looks like boxes have just been vomited out onto the page in a huge jumble.
It's all very well being able to remove them from the screen, but the remaining ones can't be resized to fit the page properly leaving it looking almost as awful.@Xero if you want to change it up so much so we can customise it ourselves, how about letting us actually do that by allowing resizing of widgets, including widgets for all functions and features not just the basic ones that were already on the old screen and allowing them to be grouped and minimised.
In its current iteration, it's also a huge privacy issue. Having all the detail just vomited over the screen in such large text and graphics makes it impossible to remain discreet when working in a shared office setting.
Please at least allow us to keep the old settings until you've fixed these very important issues! -

I want all my bank accounts in a neat row on the left, as before, but the space only fits two on top of each other, so then the rest of the space is untidy. There is no unity in the layout of what I need. There is no option to resize the boxes, as per the video, so I can't totally customise how I want the page to look. To be honest it was better before. What a mess.

Just dont get it, in the widget "Net Profit or Loss" its reporting "Last Month, Last Quarter, Last Financil year, and year to date" options.
Why have this displayed when the data is static.
Its superfluous to have this static data on the main dashboard for the whole finiancial year. Its simply compairing nothing.

Just stop wasting resources on changing a homepage that worked fine before. Stop filling half the page with your advertising! When I log in - I am there for WORK - NOT SHOPPING! If I was interested in some other function you offer, I would google it!!!

This is an improvement on the 1997 former dashboard.
Please add an additional element - collapsible groups.
I'd like to be able to add a number of bank accounts to a group and be able to collapse them down but without affecting the layout of the other widgets.
I'd also like to be able to define the max number of widgets on a row to reduce these moving about too much on different viewports

What I think would be an improvement:
1. Perhaps be able to combine certain widgets in a group so you can minimise them and expand by choice
2. I want my tax widget back - or is it somewhere that I haven't been able to figure out yet?
3. I wish there was a way to add shortcuts on the dashboard - for e.g. I quick button to General Journals, or a favourite report, etc. -

I agree - please cut down on all the 'noise' or at least make a lot of it optional. No, I am not interested in switching back to the old home page so take that banner down and, likewise, I am not interested in auto-reconciling items so let me remove that banner from the bank reconcilation pages. Neither am in interested in the "Deeper visual insights with Analytics powered by Syft, now included in your plan." so, again, please remove this from the home pages. There is too much self-promotion out there for Xero which just clogs up work flow.

The new system is incredibly annoying
I move a box like "Invoices due" to where I want it, then move another box into the place I want it.... all of a sudden everything has moved. This should be UX 101 but no, you have done something incredibly annoying

I agree with most comments on here, too busy, all blurs into one even with widgets removed. Would be good to have the option to keep the old view

Far to busy, like an untidy desktop which I hate. Keep in the old format or as some have suggested give us the choice which to use

Why do we need change something that was already so functional. This is overwhelming for me an ive been a Bookkeeper for over 25 years! Seriously XERO give us the option to stay on the old version at least then people can choose what they want to use. Way too busy for me !! Keep it Simple..

The New Homepage. Wow - not in a good way! Did the person designing this not have their glasses on? It is so busy and so XXXXL Large!
The widgets and font are very large, which makes the screen visually overwhelming and difficult to work with for extended periods. From a practical standpoint, this also creates a confidentiality issue — financial information is now easily visible to anyone passing by in the office, which was not the case with the previous homepage. While I understand the need for change, this design would benefit from being toned down. Allowing users to customise widget sizes, font size, and layout would make a significant difference. A two-column layout instead of three. The old homepage was cleaner, less harsh, and far more comfortable for those of us who spend all day analysing figures. The current design increases eye strain and reduces privacy, both of which are serious concerns. A huge red flag concerning Privacy issue and must be looked at.
