  1. A function whereby we can either toggle hide/unhide on workpapers that are 'N/A - not applicable' would be very useful. Or at least the ability to amend the workpaper codes so 'N/A - not applicable' workpapers can be custom sorted to the bottom of the pack, out of the way

    Hi team, thanks for your feedback on new Workpapers here. Over the last few months we've released a few changes to help hide or minimise N/A Workpapers:

    • When moving between worksheets N/A ones are automatically skipped
    • We've updated the colour tag status across new Workpapers and Not applicable is now grey to further minimise these
    • Admin are able to change the Workpaper code at practice level, which will change the order in which these appear

  2. In new workpapers there is no ability to see which "notes" (Client Query, Review Point) has been resolved 😭

  3. In the bank reconciliation, it would be great to be able to enter the closing balance per the bank statement, and the workpaper shows any variance.

    It would also be great if the bank name and a partial account number could be pulled through to help identify accounts where a client has many bank accounts.

    Hi team, returning to this idea we wanted to let you know we've now released an update to include a supporting balance column in all worksheets (not just bank reconciliation).

    If the supporting balance matches the Xero balance then there is a green tick confirming it and this is also visible in the variance column. 🙂

    We appreciate there's a secondary request in this thread that some maybe interested in for pulling through the bank name and account number and I've created another idea for this so we can track and keep you updated for this. Please do add your vote there if this is of interest to you. Thanks

  4. Within a specific workpaper we have the ability to add a note and select the account code that the note applies to. Can we add the account name in there as well?

    Hi community, we'd like to provide an update as this feature has now been released!

    Account names are now shown as part of the selection when creating a new note, along with being shown in the posted note and in the export.🥳

  5. Currently we can refresh workpapers from the workpapers, working trial balance, manual journals and settings screen, but when we open a specific workpaper that button is no longer available. Can we have this when working in a specific workpaper. This will save us having to click back when we are making adjustments

    Hiya team, the option to refresh all data across a pack from within an individual Workpaper is now live!😊

    You'll see the option to refresh in the top right of a workpaper. Thanks again for your feedback through the forums here.

  6. I would like a supporting balance column for each workpaper so we can enter manually the balance from the supporting document so we can see immediately the variance to the CY balance if any.

    Hi everyone, happy to update that we've released this change! There is now a 'Supporting balance' column, the previous 'Variance' column has been updated to 'Change' and we've added a new 'Variance' column where we updated the formula for to be the delta between the supporting balance column and the current reporting period 😊 Thanks for all your insight here and sharing the difference this would make for you.

  7. It would be a good idea for all documents to have a document upload date so the reviewer can see if this is a new attachment or something that existed at first review. Also to have a tick box so you can say you review the attachment not just the workpaper as some jobs would have multiple attachments.

  8. Workpapers by default calculates negative tax when there is a loss. This is wrong.

  9. Ability to edit the checklist item. Currently we can only delete and re-type a checklist item not edit anything that is existing

  10. Can we have a "Xero Hotlink" next to each account (similar to old Wp's) - The reason why is that the reviewer does not want to spend much time reviewing, this would help speed the process & for Processors we can see what is within the account, not just the "adjustment"

    Hi everyone, thank you for your input and interest in this idea. We've released an update so now from the Working trial balance view you'll see an icon on the far right of the table next to each account where you can go directly to the report. 😊

  11. We use the standard chart of accounts in Xero (so I don't believe it is a coding issue ?) but the company working papers I prepared does not allow you to adjust the net profit/loss (accounting) and it is picking up post tax and dividends which is frustrating.

    Hi team, this has now been released! You'll find Net profit has been updated to be pre-dividends, and can be manually overridden, and you'll get a warning when it's been overridden. 😊

  12. This workpaper exists in the NZ classic workpapers and is a requirement for IR4J returns and keeping a record of Imputation Credits on Retained earnings for dividend prep. Bring it back.

  13. I have been testing the company tax return import. I have accounts with negative balances - the bank overdraft for example, doesn't get posted to the current liabilities section of the tax return as a positive amount. It is posted as a negative.

    I can see that the integration has the ability to exclude from integration but this is counter-intuitive to reducing manual data entry. The ability to post as a positive figure is available in the Xero import function.

    Good news everyone! We recently released updates to our Tax integration. This included a change to fix the signage (negative/positive balances) when sending amounts from Workpapers to Xero Tax which solves for the pain point raised here.

  14. It would be very handy to have an option to draft a journal from within a specific workpaper. For example, the client has a number of investments and a slight out of balance. Instead of navigating to the separate Manual Journals or the main workpapers page (to add from the dropdown), it would be handy to have the link within the workpaper.

    Excellent to see you've already noticed the update, Bradley! This has just been released today.

    You can now work the way you like with visibility over adjustments and adjusted balance directly inside the individual workpapers and the Working trial balance.

    You're also now able to add journals from both the working trial balance and inside individual workpapers. 😁

  15. Mak the button to notify preparer / reviewer more prominent. The notifications are buried in a menu make them more prominent so the reviewer and preparer can notify each other when tasks have been completed

    Heya team! I'd like to share that we've made a change to the workflow to notify a preparer or a reviewer.

    This is now visible as a button on both the Working Trial tab as well as the Workpapers tab. 😊

  16. It's bad enough that new Workpapers only show "Variance" for CY vs LY rather than CY vs supporting Workpapers (the whole point of workpapers).

    This is not a Variance... it is a Change or Movement.

    Variance is defined as:
    - the fact or quality of being different, divergent, or inconsistent
    - the state or fact of disagreeing or quarrelling
    - a discrepancy between two statements or documents

    You'll notice that these all suggest a variance is not good (it's a difference of facts, quality, disagreement, discrepancy).

    Hi everyone, as mentioned in my last update I'm happy to share that we've now made this update and introduced a 'Supporting balance' column and updated the column previously known as 'Variance' to now be named 'Change'.

    We've also added a new 'Variance' column that shows the difference between the supporting balance figure the and the current reporting period. 😊

  17. Ability to apply a change of Reviewer to multiple pages in the Workpaper pack.

    We have a pool of reviewers so do not know at the time a Workpaper pack is created who is going to review the job. A "generic" reviewer is selected on initial set up.
    When a reviewer picks up the job they change the settings to their name. This does not automatically update each page in the workpaper so you then have to change it for each tab you go into. Would be great to have the option of bulk updating all the pages at once.

    Hi team, thanks for feeding back to us on new Workpapers here. While this was existing functionality, we appreciate it was a little harder to find.

    We've made a recent change where you now have the ability to update staff assigned in bulk (whether that's Preparer, Reviewer or Final reviewer) directly from the Worksheet table. 🙂

  18. Can we swop the LY and CY columns in the working trial balance so that it is consistent with what we see in the workpapers tab (CY first and then LY)

    Good news, team. This update has now been rolled out. You'll find the column ordering in the Working trial balance view now shows the CY column before LY column. 🙂

  19. Accounts labelled with Finance Lease (non-current) are not shown on the Workpaper trial balance, nor they are in any workpaper, e.g. Loan, non-current liabilities. They disappear in the new workpaper.

  20. Can more users be allowed to view the new Xero Workpapers other than the usual 3 users?

    Requiring an Admin staff member to kick people off or add people on to have a quick look at the Xero workpapers is quite tedious, so having an option to add a user as "Read only" and not occupy a preparer, reviewer or final reviewer slot could be handy.
