  1. When entering an email address in the pop up box when sending an invoice or quote. It automatically saves that address to the contact used in the invoice or quote.

  3. Invoicing - Awaiting Payment list - Display average number of days they pay in

    When looking at the Invoices Awaiting Payment list, it would be very helpful to see the average number of days that customer pays in – so I know if it’s time to start chasing them.

    Purpose: There’s no point in chasing an overdue invoice if I can see that it’ll likely be paid tomorrow. As it is, it takes 3 clicks to find that stat.

    Thanks for sharing this idea 😊. We can see why having the average number of days a customer usually takes to pay visible directly in the Awaiting Payment list would be helpful.

    At the moment, this information is available on an individual contact record rather than in the invoice list view. We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers would like to see this surfaced more directly in the invoicing workflow.

    We’ll continue to keep an eye on the feedback and update you here if there’s any news to share.

  4. Serious limitation in Xero is TB period control. Currently the TB is created using transaction date, so late bills effect prior period instead of falling into the current account period. This is a key feature of any accounting system and a major limitation of Xero for SMEs.

    To make this work it feels like a very simple change is required:

    • ability to select period when entering a bill, sales invoice or journal (drop down field)
    • ability to produce TB by either date (current set up) or period (field referenced above)

  6. Use buy/sell exchange rates instead of mid-rate when generating invoice items from bill items that have been assigned to a customer.

    Currently when entering a bill in foreign currency you have ability to assign the expense to a customer.

    When generating a corresponding invoice the mid-rate from XE.com is used to convert the bill item FX amount into home currency. The mid-rate is always inherently wrong, as nobody has the ability to buy or sell currency at that rate.

    This means that we have to manually find the correct buy exchange rate, do a calculation and then change the amount…

  7. The New Invoice Template looks good but when you get stuck into it, it isn't.

    Why does Xero always introduced a half-baked "upgrades" that are not fully functional?

    In the UK I do not want to see the phrase "Tax Invoice" - here it is just an Invoice, the old template I could delete the unnecessary word but not in the new template! Why?

    I tried to set up a new Standard template but we get warning messages about it every time an invoice is entered, again why? If something is missing then tell me what - even support was…

  8. I love using the template to upload invoices, it's a great function to bridge between other data software with the accounting software.

    It would be good to have a way to set up the due date of each line of invoice based on the client's default payment terms set up in contacts. So if there's a certain value or left blank for due date in the template, then once upload, Xero can default the due date based on the payment terms that would be cool.

  9. It would be very helpful to be able to see the availability of inventory items when raising an invoice or quote.
    I know this is possible once an item has been selected but it would be even better to see availability of all the items on the suggestions list, in order to select only available items.

Xero’s unique “email to bills” address is only shown in the web version, this is bizarre as I will often have PDF attachments come through on my mobile email platform and I need to forward them to the relevant Xero account (we have 30+), I have to physically log into a laptop to get the unique email address, why can I not get this on my Xero / Xero me app? Can you add this, it should be very simple

    Hi Damien, thanks for taking the time to suggest this. Being able to access the "Email to bills" address from the Xero mobile app could make it easier to forward bills and receipts while you're away from your desk.

    For now, you can log into Xero browser edition from your mobile devices, or save the 'Email to bills' address separately so you can refer to it on the go.

    I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this is something you'd like to see, please keep voting and share how having access to the address in the mobile app would support your workflow.

  11. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 Level AA need to be correctly implemented into all areas of Xero, including payroll, invoices and quoting, purchases, accounting and all other areas. Auditing of the solution needs to be done using professional auditors with lived experience. many areas of Xero do not meet the guidelines.

  12. The ability to apply multiple credit notes to invoices at an account level. We deal with accounts that are invoiced and credited quite a bit throughout the month, it's not convenient to allocate each time this is processed but would be more efficient at month end (or periodically) to be able to go account by account and offset oldest credit note to to oldest invoice to leave any balance on the lastest invoice or even at a system level to do this for all accounts at once?

  13. After 1 October 2026, businesses will no longer be able to add card payment surcharges when customers pay through Stripe. Many customers will therefore switch to paying with Stripe, when they previously paid by EFT. This will hugely increase the costs to my business.

    To avoid penalising clients who are happy to pay by EFT, I'd like to offer a discount for payments made by EFT.

    I want Xero to have a setting to allow me to offer this; and then to accurately automatically reconcile payments which take advantage of this discount method.

    I do not want to manually fiddle…

    Hi Julianne, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand why having the option to start the calendar on a Sunday could make date entry feel more natural for some.

    At the moment, the calendar picker follows a fixed layout and there isn’t a setting to change the start day. We appreciate that even small layout changes can make a difference when you’re entering lots of transactions and moving quickly through your workflow.

  15. I'd like to see both the VAT inclusive and exclusive values listed in the transactions list shown in a clients account. Some clients discuss VAT exclusive figures and others inclusive, so it would be much easier to have the selection to show both values side by side, especially if you're looking for something by value.

    Hi Emma, appreciate you submitting this through. We understand that having both Gross and Net figure visible together could make reviewing transactions easier.

    The good news is this is already available in the Account Transactions report. You can customise the report columns by opening the Columns dropdown and selecting the fields you need, including Gross, Net, and VAT. You can also save the layout as a custom report for future use. Alternatively, you can also run the Receivable Invoice Detail report.

  16. Currently, there is no path to follow to an overpayments origin. We need to be able to see which transaction this overpayment came from when there is disputes over the account.

  17. Currently Prepayments can only be posted directly to the bank line and so the actual payment must be processed manually in your online banking. We use Batch Processing for our supplier payments, so being able to add it to Accounts Payable instead would make things a lot easier for this saving both time and the risk of a mis-type for bank details. I appreciate this means both sides of a transaction would be in Accounts Payable (for a short while) but it would only be until the Batch Payment process has selected the relevant invoices for payment.   19. Being able to add a video to the attachments on an invoice so when sending an invoice, you can send a 5-10 second video of a repair or service or what was fixed or item you are invoicing over. Photos are good, but sometimes video is better.

    Thanks so much for sharing this idea 🎥 — we can see how being able to attach a short video to an invoice could be really useful, especially when a quick clip can show a repair, service, or completed work more clearly than a photo.

  20. The rational of display Tax ID Display Name under the client contact doesn't sounds right as this is the column where we should key in our own company information.

    When we using the standard template of Xero for AR Invoice, if there is tax id keyed under client's name, the field of "Tax ID Display Name" will be display under the client name. this sounds weird when I was told to amend the "Tax ID Display Name" which can be found under Financial Setting to something called "TIN Number" or "Tax ID Number" to make the display right.

    In the meantime, there is a workaround available using an advanced invoice template (custom DOCX template). This gives you more control over the invoice format, so you can customise how the invoice displays outside of the standard template.
