Customer Statements - Option to remove links to invoices
Have the option to remove links to invoices on Customer Statements
Hi community, thanks for continuing to share your feedback on this idea.
We appreciate wanting to hear more on where this is at and we'd like to update that we're just beginning to explore the future of Statements within Xero.
We understand the need for more control over what’s included in statements, particularly when invoice links or related actions don’t reflect the way your business work, or cause confusion for the customers receiving them.
This is something our team will be taking into careful consideration as that work develops.
We’ll keep you updated here as discovery progresses.

This is a critical function that needs to be addressed. We will be spending wasted time printing the pdf of statements without the links and then sending them one by one outside of xero. We dont us the pay and review. So while we were able to remove the link on the pdf, the pay and review button sends you back to the statement with the links. So its pointless. This really needs to be addressed.

After two years, has this function been fixed now? I can't email customer statements directly from Xero.

Xero, can you please put this on a PRIORITY list to be fixed as it is still an issue and your last admin response was over two years ago.
We also invoice from a different platform and will often personalise the invoice before sending to a PDF, then forwarding to our client. The invoice we send to our client therefore differs from Xero.
The work around given is so time consuming, when it should be a quick few button clicks to send out reminders. -

I support Michelle's comment below - regarding invoice reminders. I have de-selected all the tick boxes, as like many others we invoice out of a different platform. However, all invoice reminders sent from Xero still include a 'Download PDF' link in the reminder email which doesn't work and confuses our clients. If I allow the link, they get the same invoice amount but in a different format from the original. It is very annoying!

We experience the same problem but with invoice reminders. I have de-selected 'Include a link to the invoice PDF' as we invoice out of Workflow Max not Xero. However, all invoice reminders sent from Xero still include a 'Download PDF' link in the reminder email. The link itself doesn't work (and we don't want it to because we invoice out of WFM) but because the wording and the link is there in the reminder email our clients try to click on it, receive an error message and then email us complaining the link doesn't work. We are then continually apologising and explaining yes the link doesn't work, etc. I've raised this with support months ago but they have advised it is a low priority for the product team and can't give any timeframe for resolution. Dissappointing.

Unfortunately this is an issue for us as well.... Invoices are sent via Fergus and I agree with Susan that the Invoice links on the Customer Statements NEEDS to be made optional please?

Unfortunately, this has arisen again as an issue for my client. The links included on debtor statements are not relevant for our use, as we send invoices via WorkflowMax.
It would be extremely helpful to have the option to disable or remove these links. It should have been made optional years ago. -

Whilst this post is about wanting to remove hyperlinks to invoices, my need is to include them on a custom branded statement which it seems is not available. We have resorted to custom branding theme for statements because it allows us to detail an overdue balance separately in red. We lost the links to invoices. It would be very useful if any option on a statement (overdue amount, hyperlinks....) could be made available regardless of whether you are using the standard invoice or a custom branding theme. From a usability perspective, the current approac to allowing flexibility is very restrictive not to mention outdated.

Please add a tick box option to 'turn off' invoice links.
Many Xero users generate their invoicing outside of Xero but still need to send statements from Xero. -

I am finding that if you send an activity statement to the client
the pdf is correct but the statement that you get when you click view shows outstanding. Sometimes these can look very different and also do not show any company logos or other information. If I select activity I want both to be the same. I am also finding the red Overdue account and amount that automatically pops up on the body of the email definately not suitable for some of our clients - they will take offence. It is also sometimes showing as outstanding IN RED in some cases where the actual customer balance is in credit, but has not yet been allocated against the correct invoice. This is definitely not what I want clients seeing. It should be a option only.
We like others use another invoicing system which then send information into xero. Basically I almost can't send out the statements, for fear of them being incorrect. What a bad idea from Xero. It sounds as if lots of people are upset with this option and even suggested that in the trials.
Not good Xero. This weirdly has just occurred for us now, but I note that the new dashboard has also just changed for us. Xero have told me it happened last year but not for us. Possibly it is a staggered change over. -

Hi Cassie - I managed to get the link removed by raising a ticket on Xero Central. Ask the Xero team to contact the product development team. They should be able to deactivate this for you.

arah! we need the review and pay link removed from our statement emails sent. We have a customised set up for our statements as we use a stand alone system for our customer invoices and do not want them clicking onto an invoice link.

The custom branding theme link you posted doesn’t work. I understand that Xero doesn’t allow any customization of statements at all.
I now have to print each one to a PDF program, manually remove all the hyperlinks, and then send it to the client. This is a huge issue when you have dozens (or even hundreds) of debtors. A solution to this is urgently needed.

Diane - thank you for the heads up. This new "feature" isn't appearing in our instance yet, but now we know to keep an eye out for it.
We've already had to stop using the invoice reminder functions in Xero because they can't (or won't) stop including links to non-existent invoice PDFs. Now it seems we'll have to stop sending statements as well!
Xero have absolutely no interest in helping customers who don't use their invoicing - it's a disgrace.

This week, a new "Pay & Review" button appeared on the emails that accompany statements that are emailed to customers directly from Xero. I only found this out because I emailed myself a test statement and discovered the new button within the body of the email that I received. (You won't see it when you are setting up the statement to send, only your customer will see the new button when they received the email)
Like many of you below, I had removed the invoice links from the statement. This new button, cannot be removed. If your customer clicks on the button they will be taken to a screen where they can see all outstanding invoices, and the detail behind the invoices.
I don't know if this new feature has been launched on all versions of Xero, so I would suggest you email a test statement to yourself to check.
Xero, can you please make this feature optional and make it something we can opt out of using.

I'd really like an option to remove the clickable invoice links from customer statements.
Right now, when I send a statement from Xero, the invoice numbers are clickable, and clients can open them directly. This doesn’t work well for how we manage our accounts receivable, and I don’t want clients to be able to access the invoices that way.
It would be great if we could turn off those links or have more control over the layout of the statements — similar to how invoice templates work.
