Hi community, thanks for your input and support into this idea for auto updating related journals when an auto-reversing journal is edited.

While the team began to look into work involved, priorities have shifted and this is not something we'll be looking to develop at this time.

We'll move the status back to submitted and keep you informed if there is any movement.

I also have the same question about how editing a manual journal with an auto-reversal could be handled more efficiently. If the original journal is changed after the reversing journal has already been created, having to manually find and update the related reversal seems like an easy place for inconsistencies or simple data-entry mistakes to happen. An option that automatically keeps the reversing journal aligned with changes to the original entry would make the process much easier, particularly when users need to correct dates, amounts, accounts, or other details after posting.

I also think this could be useful from an audit and workflow perspective, since it would reduce the chance of the original and reversing journals becoming out of sync. It would be helpful if such an option could clearly identify which reversal is linked to the original journal and update only that related entry when appropriate. At the same time, I’d be interested to know how others would expect this to work when the reversing journal has already been posted or partially reconciled, since there may need to be some safeguards around automatic changes. Overall, the idea seems like a practical way to save time while reducing manual errors.

Appreciate your feedback on this and good to understand the different ways our partners are often viewing this information, Natascha.

Your feedback here has been shared back with our product team and I'll be sure to loop you in if there are any improvements planned for how the page responds when viewing from a mobile browser.

I also have the same question, especially since the difference between the older XPM pages and the recently updated client screen seems quite noticeable on mobile. If the older pages are still responsive while the newer version becomes distorted or difficult to read, it does seem like something in the updated layout or responsive behavior may have changed. It would be useful to know whether this is affecting all mobile browsers or only certain devices and screen sizes.

I also think mobile usability is important here because having to zoom, scroll sideways, or deal with overlapping elements makes the client screen much harder to use. Hopefully the updated design can be adjusted so the main sections, buttons, and information scale properly on smaller screens without affecting the desktop layout. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has found a temporary workaround or if this is already being tracked as a known issue with the recent XPM updates.

Thanks for your feedback and support here, everyone. We appreciate this is a gap that'd add benefit and save time for our customers.

Being upfront, we don't have any development for this feature planned at this time, but do have eyes on this idea. We'll be sure to update if there's any news.

I also have the same question, because the difference between being able to email monthly CIS statements directly through Xero and then having to manually handle the year-end statements seems like an unnecessary extra step. When there are only a few contractors, downloading each PDF and sending it individually might be manageable, but for a business with a larger number of contractors it can quickly become a repetitive and time-consuming task, particularly at the end of the tax year when there are already plenty of other CIS-related responsibilities to complete. It would be useful if the year-end CIS statement could be treated in the same way as the monthly statements, with Xero generating the appropriate document and allowing it to be emailed to the relevant contractor directly from the system. Since the information is already being held in Xero and the system can clearly produce and send the monthly versions, I am also wondering whether this is simply a missing feature in the year-end workflow rather than a technical limitation.

I would also be interested to know if there is currently any supported workaround that avoids having to download and send every contractor's statement manually. Ideally there would be a bulk emailing option where Xero could use the contractor contact details already stored in the account and send each person their own year-end statement, while still keeping the process secure and ensuring that one contractor can never receive another contractor's document. Even an option to generate all the year-end statements and initiate the emails in one workflow would save a considerable amount of administration. If this functionality is not currently available, I think it would be useful for other users with the same requirement to know whether it has already been raised as a feature request or whether Xero has any plans to extend the existing CIS statement emailing functionality to year-end statements. This seems like a particularly useful improvement for contractors and accountants who have to repeat the same process for many recipients every year. I have also noticed that people often search for unrelated digital resources such as an Astute Beta Server Free Fire, so having clear and organized bulk communication tools is especially helpful when users need to manage a large amount of information without adding unnecessary manual steps. https://theastutebetaservers.com/

I also have the same issue, especially when trying to manage budgets in an organisation where projects, departments, and donors all overlap across different financial years. The tracking-category setup seems like a reasonable way to separate the information, but once there are multiple projects under each department, creating and maintaining budgets can become quite complicated. In the example given, having options such as Marketing Team – School Project and Marketing Team – University Project under the Projects category makes sense for reporting, but it would be much more useful if a single departmental budget could include multiple project options at the same time rather than requiring a separate budget for every individual tracking option. The donor side makes the situation even more complicated because one donor may contribute to several projects, and those contributions may span different financial periods. I am also trying to understand whether the budgeting functionality is intended to support this kind of many-to-many relationship between tracking categories, or whether budgets are currently designed around selecting one tracking option at a time.

It would be helpful if someone could clarify what the recommended structure is for this type of setup, particularly when the goal is to have one budget for a department that covers several projects while still retaining the ability to report expenditure by individual project and donor. I would not want to restructure the tracking categories in a way that makes the detailed reporting harder just to make the budgeting process easier. If multiple tracking options can be selected when creating a budget, knowing exactly where that selection is made would solve the question, but if that is not supported, it would be useful to know whether there is another approach such as separate budgets, departmental grouping, or a different tracking-category structure. Since the projects can run across different years and donor contributions can overlap those periods, the ideal solution would need to preserve both the project-level detail and the broader department-level budget view. I am also hoping someone with experience managing NPO budgets with multiple tracking categories can explain how they have handled this without creating a large number of separate budgets that become difficult to maintain. A similar idea comes to mind when using something like a Starbucks calorie calculator, where different selections can be combined while still keeping the individual values visible. https://starbuckscaloriecalculate.us/

Hi everyone, thanks for all your support and feedback of how changes in navigation could help your use of Xero. While not across all areas of the product there are some updates in Bills that we wanted to share and may help the needs of some in the idea here.

We've launched Bills quick view where there's now an eye icon within the line of the bills list. From here you'll find more ease in viewing, and more recently being able to edit bills from this view without having to leave the list, meaning you can simply make adjustments and move from one bill to the next.

We'll continue to explore and develop solutions like this to help our customers get more out of Xero on the go. I'll keep you informed of other updates that could enhance your experience, here.

I also have the same question because this kind of navigation can become a little frustrating when you are working through several transactions one after another. After opening or editing a transaction, having to manually find your way back to the exact screen you were previously working on adds unnecessary steps, especially when you are reviewing a long list or working with multiple entries. A simple way to return to the previous screen would make the workflow feel much smoother.

I think keeping the user’s previous location and returning them there after saving or closing a transaction would be a very useful improvement. It would be even better if the system remembered things like the previous page, filters, or list position, so users could continue exactly where they left off instead of starting over. This seems like a small navigation change, but it could make everyday transaction management much more efficient. This kind of simple, predictable navigation is also useful when moving between different apps and tools, such as when opening CapCut APK for quick editing tasks and then returning to the previous screen or project. Hi there and thanks for your feedback.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can gather input from other users, and updated the title to reflect the request for separate buttons.

We appreciate you sharing how this change is affecting your workflow.

I also have the same question, because while combining the payment workflow may be convenient in theory, having both the ABA download and superannuation approval take you away from the wages screen can make the process feel less straightforward in practice. When processing payroll, I often want to complete the wage payment first and then deal with superannuation as a separate step, so having to navigate away and then find my way back to continue the workflow adds unnecessary clicks and makes it easier to lose track of where I was. The two payments are related to payroll, but they are still separate processes with different destinations and approval requirements. Having clearly separated buttons such as “Pay Wages” and “Pay Super” would make the workflow much easier to understand and would give users more control over the order in which they complete each step.

I’d also like to know whether there is currently a setting or alternative workflow that allows these actions to be accessed separately, because the new combined button doesn't seem ideal for every payroll process. In particular, smaller businesses or people handling payroll manually may want to download the bank file, verify everything, and return to the payroll screen before dealing with superannuation approval. Keeping both actions visible as separate options would also make it immediately clear what has already been completed and what still needs attention. I have the same question about whether Xero plans to provide separate controls for these actions, or if there is already a way to customize the payroll screen so the wage and super payment processes can be handled independently. The combined workflow is understandable, but having the choice between combined and separate actions would probably make it work better for a wider range of payroll workflows. For anyone separately checking salary calculations or comparing payroll figures, a wages calculator Germany could also be useful as an independent reference, although that would be separate from the actual payment workflow in Xero. Hi team, thanks for feeding back on my last update, it's good to hear how the contrasting has or hasn't helped solve needs for differing users.

We appreciate further context of your needs here and want you to know this is something our team have still been looking into.

We now have a piece of work underway that when released will show borders around widgets on the homepage 🙂 Though I can't give timeframes for this as yet, I'll keep you looped in on further updates for this here.

I also have the same question, because I find it much easier to understand the layout when there is some kind of visible border or line separating the individual widgets. When everything blends into the same background on the normal homepage, it can be difficult to tell where one widget ends and the next one begins, especially when several widgets are placed close together or contain similar types of information. The fact that the boundaries are already visible when using the edit homepage option makes it seem like the interface already has a way of identifying those sections, so it would be really useful if the same visual separation could remain when viewing the actual homepage. Even a subtle border, divider, or outline around each widget would make the page feel much easier to scan without necessarily changing the overall design.

I’d also be interested to know whether there is currently a setting, theme option, CSS customization, or accessibility-related preference that can be used to make those widget boundaries visible on the regular homepage. I have the same issue where the editing view gives a much clearer indication of the different sections, but once the page is saved and viewed normally, those visual boundaries disappear. If there is already a supported way to enable borders around individual widgets, it would be helpful to know where that option is located. Otherwise, I think adding a simple “show widget borders” or similar setting would be a useful improvement, particularly for users who find it easier to navigate the homepage when each component has a clearly defined area. This is similar to how visual separation can make content-heavy interfaces easier to navigate in games such as Actions and Stuff Minecraft, where clearly defined visual elements help distinguish different parts of the interface. I also had the same question, because the situation described here seems like a fairly common use case for employees who have predictable standard working hours but need to add exceptions such as overtime, travel time, or overnight allowances. Timesheet templates make a lot of sense for reducing repetitive data entry, but if employees are primarily submitting their timesheets from a mobile device while working remotely, having to switch to a desktop just to apply a template defeats much of the convenience of the mobile application. A default template that is automatically associated with an employee, project, or timesheet type could be particularly useful, since it would allow the standard hours to be populated immediately while still leaving the employee free to add additional entries when something unusual occurs.

I’d also be interested to know whether there is already a recommended workaround for this, such as assigning a default timesheet configuration to users or having the standard hours automatically generated when a new timesheet is created. Ideally, the mobile workflow would provide the same basic functionality as the web version for recurring timesheets, especially for employees who rarely have access to a computer during their working day. I also had the same question about whether template uploads themselves are technically difficult to support on mobile, or whether the better long-term solution would be to allow administrators to define a default template that the app automatically applies. Even a simple option such as “Create new timesheet from default template” would remove a lot of repetitive work and make the mobile experience considerably more practical. I’ve found the same idea useful when organizing other recurring digital tasks, including managing Minecraft-related project files such as Jenny Minecraft resources, where having predefined settings can save unnecessary repetitive steps. Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this. We appreciate you sharing how the number indicators for Tax Returns and Notes helped streamline your workflow in XPM.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

I completely agree, and I have the same question. Those indicators were a really useful visual cue for quickly spotting whether a client had outstanding tax return work or important notes attached. Since the updates, I've found myself having to click into the tabs much more often just to check whether anything is there, which adds unnecessary steps to routine client reviews.

I also have the same question about why this functionality was removed when similar indicators are still present for Jobs and Invoices. From a usability and consistency standpoint, it would make sense to have the same behavior across all client tabs. The notes indicator in particular was incredibly helpful for making sure important client information wasn't overlooked. Hopefully this can be restored in a future update. It almost feels like using a Morse code translator without the visual indicators—you can still retrieve the information, but you first have to dig for the signal instead of recognizing it instantly. Those small cues made it much easier to identify which clients needed attention at a glance. You can visit here https://themorsecodetranslator.net/
