Email Settings - Specify date/time to send transactions
Ability to specify date/time when users’ want to send emails from Xero.
Purpose: So clients/customers can receive the email during the working hours and not at random time.
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to share that we're moving forward with the ability to schedule the send of an invoice from Xero.
We're in the early phase of releasing our new invoicing scheduler to customers, and appreciating the direct interest you've all shown here we've included everyone that's voted on this idea in our initial rollout!
You'll see a tool tip on the invoice page for email scheduling, and be able to choose the right date/time when you go to email an invoice (from the send email dropdown). 😊
We're really keen to hear your feedback.
We appreciate there are asks within this idea for being able to schedule the send of other document type such as payslips and want to be upfront that this isn't in the roadmap at present. However, once our invoice scheduler is out to all, we'll be monitoring it's use closely and consider how this feature may be expanded to other features overtime.
I'll be back to let you all know when the invoice scheduler is live to everyone.

I would like to be able to draft and approve invoices and have this set to email to a customer on a specific day.
For example, if I can prep invoices on a friday, but all invoices are to be emailed on Mondays, I would like to be able to prep and schedule these on the friday so i don't have to log in on the monday again to send the emails to customers -

Great to hear that this is finally in development. I hope repeating invoices are being included in this development.

@AR or anyone else looking for it - you have to press the Email function on your approved invoice, go as far as the email dialogue where you edit the email body you're sending with the invoice, in the bottom right corner the Send has Send and then a V arrow next to it - that gives you a suggested alternative time or build your own custom time.

To Add to whats not there. The Date / time function is NOT on the Sales Overview -> Invoices Screen (awaiting Payment / Paid Tabs), so Bulk sends cannot be delayed, only each individual invoice.
Not sure what happens if you send an invoice on Scheduled time, and then resend it ?? -

Thank you for adding this and letting us test it.
- I see the "Schedule Email" options in the 🔽 dropdown.
- I don't see any "tool tip on the invoice page".
- I don't see any option to set the scheduled time for Repeating Invoices.
- Is the date/time for the recipient or the sender's time zone? (Ideally this could be chosen, but it should, at least, be explained in the dialog.) -

I can not believe the day has finally come. Not even James Cameron leave you hanging for this long. Game changer!

Will there be any planned functionality to do the same/similar via API? i.e. you make the request to send an invoice via email, with one or more additional parameters flagging that you want it scheduled?

This would be an amazing addition.

It would be very handy if the function to email invoices included a schedule send option. I create invoices on weekends for our small business due to other commitments during the week, however it is best for our clients to receive their invoice emails on a business day. Because there is no function to schedule the send for another time I need to log in again just to send the invoices.

Schedule Send
Would be great if there was a Schedule Send option on invoices instead of having to log into XERO.

Being able to set the date and time the sales invoice is sent to the customer/client. Just like we can with our emails and now with our text messages.

Please make this happen - I asked of this back in 2016. For small companies where you may do some book keeping on the weekend or out of hours, delayed send is a must have - so we continue to look professional.
This feature cannot be generic - it needs to be on a PER E-MAIL basis or (if a global setting) it needs to be able to be overridden when a mail must go out at a certain time.
One other amazing feature for emails would be the ability to copy ( cc: ) one or more people to bulk e-mail sends without having to add the cc: to each individual address box. Easiest way would be to add the additional cc:s in a box near the "copy me" check box

Any progress? This is wasting a lot of time for us having to send invoices manually, all the while getting regular big price hikes from Xero.

This is a major pain point from clients getting invoices from us at midnight. Makes us look like ********.

+1 for this. It’s a very simple dev add on surely?!

+1 for this, I'm going to have to log in specially over the summer holidays to send invoices because there's remarkably no way to schedule a send!

This needs to apply to repeating invoices too. Our repeating invoices get sent out at about 2am which is very unprofessional. We simply want them to be sent during waking or working hours.

Is there anywhere that we, as customers that aren't been listened to, can escalate this?
Scheduling invoices, like at least 656 of us know, is a basic feature. And while Xero have been busy with bells and whistles that most of us don't want, this rudimentary function of creating an invoice and being able to send at a later date, requires the very smart people at Xero to [dig] "into the work needed to develop a solution, and figure out the best way to make this happen".
This is a basic programming task, and one user below has even offered his services to Xero to do said task.
